Wanting to go up to ride with my friend who lives in Renfrew. Was thinking instead of trailering all that way, drop trailer/truck off at another friends place and we ride by sled to Renfrew. Can this be done sensibly in 1 day and has any one done this ride and can tell me the approximate mileage and timeframe and maybe some of the better trails to take? Thanks in advance.

Looking at the Top Trail Guide that the OFSC puts out, there is a graph that maps out mileage between towns. Now Renfrew isn't on this graph, but Arnprior is, which is about 35km further. Now, Bracebridge isn't on this graph either, but Orillia is listed, and Orillia and Bracebridge look to be about the same distance from the B & D trail junction. So, that being said, Arnprior to Orillia is marked at being 485km, minus the approximate 35km, is about 450km....that's a long haul imo.
So, if you are traveling at an average speed of 50kph, you would arrive in Renfrew in approximately....9 hours of driving...yikes!
Stick to the top trails too, the club trails will usually be slower and twistier and bumpier.
If you do this, let me know how long it really does take, I'm very curious.
By car, Bracebridege to Renfrew is less than 4 hours.

Grimm- Thanks, well I think after hearing from you and a couple others who are familiar with the trails in that are, have decided to stop in Bracebridge and pick up my friend and proceed to Renfrew via truck/trailer as some said its over 300 miles and as you say- a longgggggggggg haul! Thanks again.

Grimm- well we didnt ride the sleds from bracebridge as planned, not becuase it was so far as the 2nd day in Renfrew we did a 342 mile that day-longg but great as the trails were in perfect condition-as they were all week until yesterday! I am glad we didnt ride the sleds as when we got up this morning in Renfrew-it was pouring down freezing rain and we drove all the way back to Bracebridge in the rain and couldnt beleive how much snow was lost in 1 day up there.Hopefully it will not be the end of riding but its defintely not looking good for now! Again thanks for the help but next year this ride will be in the plans again, but by sled.
