[size=2][b]First off, I'm not mechanical what so ever, so if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about...it's because I don't.
I know and have seen many discussions on this and I'm going to make some mad by bringing this up, but I'm trying to learn.
I've got an '02 MXZ 700 (trail), only about 3500 miles on it (lack of snow etc.), and I bought it new in '02. It has 144 picks and a Goodwin clutch kit in it (and C&A Pro's and bar riser fyi). I'm putting off buying a new sled for a while due to trying to buy a new house, etc, etc, etc, and this one has plenty of life left in it, so no REV for a year or two. THIS IS WHERE I DON'T WANT TO GET BASHED TO HARD....I'm looking to enhance this sled without going broke.
1st) I don't have rebuildable shocks and have never been too impressed with the suspention on my sled from the start. Is there shocks that I can go with that will help the ride, but not cost me $300 per shock?
2nd) I thought that buying vforc 3's would give me more h.p. but after reading what alot of people are saying, not worth the money?? If I replace reeds with doo reeds or boysen should or can I put spacers in to get me that 1 or 2 extra hp? Is that how the spacers work? I was going to have my jetting checked too.
3rd) Is having the porting cleaned upand cleaning the heads a performance enhancer? I've been trying to read up on this, but I'm still not sure on this subject.
4th) Gearing...Can I change the gearing to get both a little bit on the top end as well as the bottom, or is it one or the other?
Any thoughts on cans and pipes. Most people I see say don't do it because sleds run better on stock set up.
ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS??
Don't get me wrong...I've been 90% happy with my sled, but if I'm going to keep it for a while longer, I want to spruce it up a bit. The sled is for the trails but like everyone else, I like to try and win some drags on the lakes.
I was going to just take it to Goodwin and tell them this stuff, but I don't want them to laugh at me. I can take it much easier getting bashed online :)
Thanks guys, and take it easy on me if I sound like a goof.
