This weekend i got to drive my dads 600 MXZ, becuase he was riding two-up with his gf. When i started it has brand new studs(stock otherise) and it ran great...she really flew. Everything was good. The next day we go on a ride without his GF and he rides his MXZ while i ride the 470 two up.

Well when we go that night and he rides the 470, the MXZ feels like its darting viloently around the trail. When i got up to high speed it would dart and make it very sketichy to ride fast. Well we finished the weekend with nothing wrong except the darting(still a rideable sled) but i was wondering what would cause this?? Or is it normal and i just didnt notice it before? Also if it is normal what can a guy do to the sled to make it stop?

by the way we had a BLAST best riding ive ever done, fastest to. :D

First thing to do is check the toe on the skis should be about 1/4 toe out.

If this is on the 2000 MXZ600 and it has skidoo flex skis theree should be "EZ-Steers" available for it that can help. It is just a piece of plastic that runs along the either side of the carbide the length of the ski. Your sled may have these on already as my 2000 FDLX 700 had these on when I purchased it.

Definately check for "Toe-out" as mentioned above beefore spending any money.

Have a look at the bottom of the skis. Maybe the runners are loose, broken, excessively worn, etc.

Toe out could be a possibility, as is the snow conditions.

Put on a set of precision skis. Will absolutely eliminate ALL darting!!

My friend has a 2005 rev, and they will still dart in certain snow conditions.

Check the front spring on the rear suspention. If it is too tight, then wieght is taken off the skis, and they dont get the grip they should. That would cause darting. If it was good one day and not the next, it could just be the snow conditions.

Precision skis do dart, quite a bit actually. It occurs if the snow is crisp and hard or especially on a groomed trail that is hard, not that I use groomed trails a lot, but when I do I really noticed it, even to the point that it gets a bit scary when other sleds are coming towards you on the trail.
They say the Pilot ski (article at the beginning of this forum by rob) eliminates darting altogether. I'm thinking about buying a pair myself.
