I installed a new Dayco belt as the Yamaha one was so worn that the clutch would not engage smoothly, that problem solved but i find that alough the sled runs great the primary clutch gets really hot mostly the inside sheave. The secondary is only warm after a ride. What could the problem be.I deglazed the sheaves and checked the primary with out the belt and it moves in and out smoothly. If on a stand the track will creep very slowly .Any ideas...

ya no dought you have slippage,i remember the old days racing against the yamaies with my 340 jaguar.took a while but my goodness those yamies moved, until they got in soft snow, then they where done. never had one yamy in the 70's or early 80's play with me in snow. they just could'nt handle it. know why----- gearing, weigh to high. if you fix it they will come.
just my thought

this is my edit below.
your to high on the gearing, creating clutch heat, reduced gearing and you will rock.count the teeth on the top and on the botom, post it so we all know.we are here for the experience not just the solution.

If on a stand the track will creep very slowly.

It creeps while at an idle while on a stand?
I'd be inclined to think the belt is a bit small....(short)
Maybe I am wrong, but that'd be my guess.

Get a new primary spring, probably would'nt hurt to get a new secondary spring either.

seems like you need a new spring in your primary clutch that should stop the creeping and cool the clutch down
