I took my brother's sled out last night to install his new silencer and noticed that when taking off with a good amount of throttle it bogs for like a second and then takes off. Jetting appears to be right on because of plug color and for some reason i'm thinking that it might be dirty clutches. Anyone else have this happen???
It feels similar to my sled when my belt is about to disintegrate, but my brother said its done it the last couple rides and his last ride he had a brand new belt on.
Any help???

Possibly check the belt deflection and make sure it is a bove the secondary also. Never had many problems with the Ski Doo clutches over the years, maintenance wise anyways.

Check your pilot jet, probably dirty or as Dooman says too lean. Doubt it is a clutch issue.

ya know i had too add this reply.
i hear this all the time: when i jet my sled for pipes it is always to rich.but we forget when the pipes are not hot they are not working,so we are rich, but when they kick in they are fine.
boys,boys boys,
invest in dial a jets for your big mikuni, it'l give ya four jets sizes with the dual set.
what they ask for is a lean condition. so when you have a proper dialed in jet system at wot,add one more bigger jet size and let the dually dial a jet do the rest.works just like the dickens.
just my thought

need to add this to:
make sure the carburation is set right.
remember:
slow jet air screw mostly effects this area

Not an air screw on this model. The4 low speed screws are fuel screws and should be turned out about 3/8 of a turn to richen. Common problem.

Well I always thought that if the mixture was off that it would progressively get worse. I talked with my brother and he said it started 3 rides ago. A bunch of us were all drag racing and he said all of the sudden it started bogging on take off. So he thought it might be the belt, so changed the belt and it still does it. The plugs are burning perfect.
I also happened to check his deflection which looks like its off. Its even with the top of the secondary clutch sheaves instead of being 1/16-1/8 inch above.
I'll probably try to adjust that and if that doesn't work clean clutches.
It acts just like a car that starts of in too high of a gear. Bogs until you get rolling then takes right off.....

2 things ive seen....
When applying a clutch kit, I've fixed this problem by going one larger pilot jet size from 17.5 to 20 or 22.5.
Cleaned the bad boys up. :)
Other thing is I've seen many times a tuner installs a new belt and the belt happens to be longer than previous belt. The deflection needs to be reset and keep the belt lowest as possible in primary clutch upon takeoff. Belt deflection reset and bog goes away.

Check your belt deflection 1/16" above secondary, then your primary and secondary springs if they're stock for 50 bucks replace them start with primary then secondary.Kind of sounds like a loose belt (too little belt deflection).Probably not jetting BRP does'nt jet them that fat.
