I have a buddy with a 97 zr 580 with 98 hood. It was an insurance write off before and he bought it and fixed it. I took it for a ride and it seemed solid and nothing seems to be wrong .It has around 5000 miles. Buddy wants 2000 bucks for it is that a good price.

I hope you mean $200.00 and not $2000.00 For a salvage title sled! I don't care if that is canadian dollars not in a million years is that worth it. It was obviously totaled and has $0.00 value not to mention its almost 10 years old.
$2000.00 can get you a newer sled that is not a rebuilt wreck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree w/ TaxiCat, your buddy may have that sled for a loooooooong time if in fact he's wanting 2 large for it.

My advice....look elsewhere if that is the case.... :lookaround:

i did mean 2000.00. all that was wrong with is the belly pan and side panel. He had hit a broke off fence post. this was just last year so insurance said they didn't wanna fix it so they wrote it off because it was to old and the cost of parts would be to much. the parts we needed to fix it are off of an 98 zr 580. we put the hood on for looks. It has also gone through an intergrity test and it passed with flying colors. I will consider your advice and look around first.

If the sled only saw cosmetic damage (plastic parts) I wouldn`t worry about it. But If steel bulkhead front suspension arm and frame was touch its another story. How much milage on the sled?

can't remember exactly but around 4000 or 5000 miles. no damage to bulk head or tunel just plastic broke.

Not trying to start something here but i thought in 98 cat went to a different body style and the zr had a 600 not a 580. I would stay clear of that sled thou.

If you're interested in coming to MN, I could sell you my 96 ZR580. Never wrecked, almost everything has been updated, including a rear skid from an '02 ZR800. Excellent condition! I'd probably take $1500US for it.

$2000 cdn is top dollar for the sled, fall price. As the season is pretty much over I think it's a tad steep. Good Luck with your search!
