I have a 99 zrt800 that I am thinking of making into a long track. Would this be a tough thing to do. I'm thinking it wouldn't be that bad, but you guys would know. What is the way to go, skid extensions or just find a longer skid etc. etc. I'm still in the debating stage and looking for suggestions. Thanks

Tracks USA.com has a Special Right Know.

Tunnel Extension from cat is $175.00, Rails Used are $100.-$150.00, A 136x15x1.25 Ripsaw is $399.00

I put a tracksusa 144" kit on my '97 ZRT 800 earlier this fall. Whole thing costs me about 650 bucks and that included the extended rails, 8 tooth drivers and track. It's AWESOME. I crafted some alumuminum for the rail extension.

I used the original 121 skid.

Here is a pic that shows the sled near completion.

Funny, I have a friend that bought a 136 ZRT and it eventually got shortened to 121. He said it was amazing, with the shorter track it actually turned.
A ZR like Freezerburnt's makes a nice 136"sled, but the ZRT's will never be good boondockers. They'll be great at going straight up a hill, but for day to day riding you're better off leaving them at 121".

Freeze, are you replacing the track regardless? If so a 136" would be cool on that sled. FOr cooling you can usually just move the exchanger back. With the older sleds it was never an issue because they had the coolers running the length of the tunnel instead of at the back.
FUnny, I've loved my 144, but next year I'll be back on a 121. If it doesn't cut it I'll extend it to 136", but 95% of the time in Ontario, if a 121 can't make a few extra inches won't help.

I had one of those and stretched it out to a 136 2",and was the best thing ever for that machine, just extend the cooling hoses and why dont you just weld up the oval hole and redrill it out and use rail extensions, cat always has lots of cooling capacity so you wont have a problem there at all
