Lift the rear end of the sled and place a 2 X 4 under the front of the track. Lower the sled and observe the alignment. Tightening the track adjusters will also help compress the suspension into place. Don't forget to readjust the track.

I also find using a spreader clamp to expand the tunnel sides slightly makes it easier to adjust the skidframe to align it with the holes.
But hey, while you have the rear end down, why not remove the entire skidframe and go over all of your shafts, bearings, bushings grease nipples, sliders, track, etc. Check that your swing arms aren't cracked, clean up any rust and paint them. Make sure the grease nipples aren't plugged. The shafts are still round and not egg shaped. Ensure all of the clips are still in your track. Check your studs if you have any or install them if that's something you were thinking of. Now is the time to find out if you have any problems so that they can be corrected before the snow flies. Only 8 more months until winter. Whoooohooooooo!

I do just as thumbdoctor said. It makes it a breeze to install!

I use a turnbuckle hooked to a 3/8 rod slipped thru the rail slots and the other end hooked near the shock end. Adjustable anywhere you want it and I never have to loosen the track to remove/install. Hooks up in about 5 seconds.

I pull the idler wheel that is hiding the spring supports, then take the spring supports off and loosen the spring tension, let the springs just hang there.
Now you can move the rear arm anywhere you want to. Get it mounted and torqued down, put spring supports back onto spring, attach to frame rails, then put idler wheels back on.

I say slap the sled on its side
much easier that way to align the holes :sly:
I have done this over a dozen times over the years
