Need help! I just bought a pair of Studboy 6" 60 degree Shaper Bars for my Powder Pro Skis. It has a big warning label that says I should only use these with studs. I ride a SKS with a 144" 1 1/4" track and don't intend to stud. Should I worry or this is their standard warning?

No worries. It's just a standard advertising ploy to make their product seem more effective than it is. The shaper bars are an aggressive bar, but definitely not so aggressive that you need to worry that you will crash if you do't have studs.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Buy the way I got the bars from Ebay for $15. I'm putting them on this week and see how they do this weekend. The powder pros are an awesome ski, I had SLTs and they were great on the trails but really didn't work in the deep. The powder pro float on the powder and make it easier to throw the sled over. I would recommend this upgrade to anyone. This is where I got them. Great price only $290 complete http://www.xtremesledparts.com/Powderpro.htm

Yeah just be careful on ice. Here in Oregon it's usually either powder or slush, so nobody studs their tracks. When it does get icy your track will be slipping like mad but the skis will be solidly hooked up thanks to those carbides, which makes for an easy spinout. My wife found this out when she hit the throttle and spun her EXT off a narrow icy trail...good carbides but no studs actually can be dangerous. And these were only 4" carbides. After that she was too scared to keep going. So yeah, just don't do that.
I too just got some shaper bars off ebay for the awesome 2004 Ski-doo summit skis that I put on my Vmax Mtn Max. Not going to install the new bars until next winter is in full force but I'm excited to try them. I already have excellent steering with these skis and the 50% worn stock bars. Blows the stock skis out of the water on trails and powder - jaw droppingly improved steering. Of course, the 96 Vmax stocks skis were the worst turning and overall crappiest skis I've ever witnessed...and to make matters worse those 3.5" wide spindles have to be modified if you want to use any other skis in the world. Thanks Yamaha. It was well worth the effort though.
