2007 Sw Stateside Ride For Charity

I have a few ?'s about the ride . Im off till the ride is over so im going to be gathering things up to go. One thing im trying get a idea of is how much oil I should have for the wk with running 2 sleds. The oil I use I can only get here in flint or in marquette, or anyone that does sell phillips66 products.
I cant remember just how much we used last yr :confused: .I have 2 gal now and was going to get 3 more this wk. Somthing tells me we used 2 gal for 800 mi on both sleds but thats a guess.
Also I never been west of seney so im going in blind for the area. Is there a gas station right there by diggers or do we need to remember on the way in or out from the rides. I know some places are tucked out in the sticks and they need to ride a ways to the pump( just curious on this one).
DOES digger have trail maps?, could he get us some county maps (those show all the 2 tracks and elevations(swamps)?
Where are the closest dealers in the area? I only know of the doo dealer in curtis that far west.
I guess most of this is just minior thought of curiosity other than the oil thing . I just want to be all set when I get there to focus on just riding and having a great time with my SW family.

The closest full service stop I thing would have to be the one in Shingleton, it usually has multiple kinds of oil and some sled parts.

I wasn't feeling that great so I went to the emergency room Friday morning....got released from the hospital today less an appendix.

Doctor said that I'm supposed to take it easy for the next four weeks and when I asked if that meant I couldn't go snowmobiling, she said 'No Snowmobiling'. I go back next week and maybe I can talk some sense into her.

As of now it doesn't look promising.

First of all......Glad you went to the ER and got taken care of....Hope your feeling better soon.

The Ride is still two weeks off so half the time she said " no snowmobiling" maybe she will change her mind but we all know health should come first, and it's not the only chance you would get to ride. Wishes for a speedy recovery to you !

est: 13 DAYS AND 6HRS till we pull into the famous jack pine lodge :thumbsup: . Each day it's one more closer. To bad with that is.. soon the days and nights will get blurred together due to lack off sleep from being sooooo excited :confused:. Im sure we wont need a alarm clock to wake us on that special day :tongue:.
As of now where starting our trek north on sat the 20th to T/C for the night and heading to J/P sun am. Hope to hit there by noon-1ish or so.Thats the night that I might need a good sleeping pill :dazed: , just might have to hit the mother-inlaw up for one :blush: .

Thanks on the gas info guys , it's nice when you have a pump just outside the door. I dont mind paying a few cents more to ride . Most of the time you dont care anyhow your riding is all that matters :devil: . Diggers cant be any worse than rainbow lodge , pike lk, strongs area. Besides I dont have a problem giving digger a few bucks more for the convenice and to help support a SW friend , one hand washes the other :wink: .Im just glad gas is staying down in a whole , 3+ bucks a gal could really hurt.

Renegade mike , hope your recovery is a speedy one , tell the doc you want some high speed healing pills ( you have snow to ride on!!) :D . Also im sure there will be quite the assortment of pain killers up there in many various forms and color :huh:

Yeah 75 is the way to go. Are you comming from PA.? that is a hike. Would be quicker to go thrugh Canada ?

Right just take it to 75 n but make sure to stay left on the 23/75 split and take 23 north to avoid the Detroit traffic. :thumbsup:

On 90 keep going past the 1-75 exit and get off at the Maumee exit its the next exit.
You'll see a BIG UPS Center follow signs to US 23 North Ann Arbor
You'll avoid driving threw Detroit that way. Follow 23 North to the

the quickest route and the easiest is the pike to 23 like Dave said. or you can take pike-280-475-23 and save some toll money (adds 4 minutes)

I agree,,, take 23 through ann arbor and then join back up with 75 in Flint,,, this will avoid the Detroit traffic and the roads really arent bad,,, actually 23 is probably better than 75 (at least up to Monroe),,,

If so I can make the ribbion look like the real loopy thing and take a permanent maker to write out S.W CHAIRITY RIDE 07 on them. Might be better than flopping out in the breeze and be more visiable and uniform among us.

We did get the woven fabric kind and not the marker tape.

Just let me know so I can have time to get them cut and sewen up in the loop , other wise I' ll just cut strips to tie on. It's going to make a differance in cut length, 8-10" for tie on vs's 6" for the loop. The extra work in sewing is no big deal to me (yes I can sew), its just a few stitches to hold them in shape and then use a safety pin to pin them on.

I think you should probably add at least 10 to the count on the list. I would like to have some for Digger, Linda, and the staff as well. Maybe a couple spares, but it's up to you. I think that safety pins would be more secure and probably cheaper.

Last I knew, Digger had a banner made for the ride, but it's been a while since we've talked about it. It would be cool to have big ribbons on the pines around the bar during our ride.

Sure looks like the temps. will be great for riding....hope there's plenty of snow, and you all have a great, safe time! :thumbsup:

LOL No worries on the spelling... .I think he was/is rushed right now and is just as excited as the rest of us. Time is growing near!!! We havent had great luck with getting donated goods for the raffle due to the lack of snow!! One even was quite rude to puree. Anyway, we need to know if anybody has goods that they are bringing for the raffle so we can get our ducks in a row so to speak.. Please talk to your dealers and friend to see if they will donate.

It's funny you should mention the attitude's of some establishments. Rick and I were at quite a few of them today and what we were hearing was " things are tough this year and everyone and thier brother stop in for something. " However, we did manage to collect a cash donation from Rick's work, various duffle bags, and we can pick up the donation from our dealer on Sat on our way up. ( don't know what that is yet until we head up) we were there today and he said he wanted to round up some things this week. A few canned good will also be with us. If we can manage to squeeze out some more this week we will let you know.. :thumbsup:

I already had contacted them this morning and the package was to be sent out. I also have others that I am waiting to hear back from. Mostly guys into extreme snowmobiling. When I spoke to Justin Skullen over at Slednecks this morning he was very happy to help. He told me to just make sure that I get a hold of him a little earlier next year so they have more time to get a bigger package together for us.

Im also waiting to hear back from a goggle company, Jimmy Blaze(who also lost his mom to breast cancer last year), Compound videos, and a few others. Lets just hope they come through and they get here in time. If not we can just ebay the items and send in the cash.

We have had no luck with the dealers :bash: we do have quite a bit of food though :blush: I'm going to try the dealers one more time this week :slick:

RIBBION UPDATE: I have finished the ribbions that we will be wearing . I had to change some stuff and go to plan-B, After I had a crash corase in Ribbion Writing 101:ohmy: . So not knowing that 90% of ribbion is made of nylon/polyester , every thing I tryed to write with bleeded out.
So plan -B was I found that a good ole BIC ink pen worked . I had to cut out some of the writing from the 1st idea cause now the ribbion would move under the stenciel :confused: .

But in the end I have 40 made up and can make more if we need them.
They actually turned out pretty cool and gets the point across.

We Went to a few more places today and got a few more goodies for the raffle. Great Lakes power Sports gave us some t-shirts and coldwave hats, ProStyle Auto Detailing place gave us a really cool polished stainless steel Red Wings License Plate ( really cool ) Cummings Harley Davidson Store gave us a shirt, hat , bandana and a Harley History Book ( still in the cover) and brand new.

We still have our dealer to go to on our way up Sat... I'm really looking forward to finding out what they are going to do......Hopefully its good stuff ! :thumbsup: After all, we did buy two brand new sleds from them.....hehe.

We won't give up until the day we ride..

Whoa.....the ride home was expensive....Jen was having trouble keeping up on the trails and after I rode it all day Friday I saw why.....She had a "03" 550 ZL and it was a terrible trail sled....So we bought a "07" MXZ 500 :blush: we will be trying it out next weekend if I can get everything ready by then!

Whoa.....the ride home was expensive....Jen was having trouble keeping up on the trails and after I rode it all day Friday I saw why.....She had a "03" 550 ZL and it was a terrible trail sled....So we bought a "07" MXZ 500 :blush: we will be trying it out next weekend if I can get everything ready by then![/b]

What in your opinion was it that made it a terrible trail sled? :unsure:
(I'm always trying to learn something new)

We are home as well, after crappy roads and lots of snow falling and wind after crossing the bridge.

home as well. the drive did suck going down the west side of the state. the snow is a nice site too see and welcomed. another converted cat rider nice :wink: . did puree find his wallet?

DoubleA and myself are home safe also,,, got here around 11pm,,, we didnt buy any sleds or anything exciting on the way home though,,,, sniff sniff,,, and here I thought snowoman was a cat girl,,,
as with everyone else, more to come with pics ,,,, but I need to get some sleep, the 12 hours I got this week (thanks Jeff,,, I love ya man) just wasnt enough,,,

we made it home in 14 hrs. had 15 wrecks happen in front of us. mainly on 75 just before flint. 23 was a little better. once we got in pa it started again. we did get snow and this place was packed with sleds. main trails were toast before i went out yesterday. still got in 100 mi. though. glad to hear everyone got home safe.

There was just not enough suspension on that sled! I rode it and I had my hands full keeping up with the group, the sled was all over the trails....other than that there was nothing really wrong with it. Jen being a timid rider I want her on the best possible sled I can put her on! If it's a Ski-Doo so be it. I wanted a new sled, but her safty comes first !!!

We arrived home after hitting some pretty nasty conditions on the way. There was only about 4 inches on the ground here last night. Now we have over a foot and it's still snowing!! :D

Congrats on the new sled Mike and Jen. It will make a huge difference for you. Good choice!

I had a great time! I hope everyone else did. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics. I didn't have a trail camera this year.

I'll have final #'s on the raffle and 50/50 drawing later. Gotta go clear the driveway. :(

We rode yesterday and decided to take the sleds down to Big springs, low snow down there but it was worth the trip. As always we returned to Diggers in Blizzard conditions and roads to match. Left last night and it was a white out all the way too just about West branch :bash: Heres some pics at Diggers when we where loading up. :ohmy: Just in time to leave.

I did not get a chance to meet everyone but the people we meet were awesome! The guys we bunked with are some of the best people I think I've met in my lifetime !!! A big thanks goes out to those 4 guys( Jt, Johnnie, Aaron & Brian)! Brian and Deb, Rick & Allison Thank you also for going out of your way to make things nice for Jen :thumbsup: Can't wait to do it again!

Be sure to thank Craig for me, he tracked me down the next day and gave me a replacement for the part I put on his sled. As luck would have it we where riding down Adams trail the next day on the 26th (Daves Day :rolleyes: ) and my sled puked out needing the opposite relay. Being that Craig got me the part back to me I just popped it in and was on my way, Talk about Karma (sp) :thumbsup:

I'm glad you like it. :thumbsup: I didn't know what els to give. And hopefully that the tow rope won't be used to tow your sled in from the trails.

We took a bunch of pics at Big Springs when we drove down there in the truck Tuesday to check the snow levels. It wasn't even accessible earlier in the week by sled. There was less than 1" of snow when we were there on Tuesday.

Im going to have to go back through my pictures of the raffle and sort out what came from where.
