idooski 04-25-2006, 12:01 AM I'm proud to announce the:
***ALL RESERVATIONS GO THOUGH ME***
Please figure out what you would like to do for sleeping arrangements and make reservations through me. Use this thread to find room mates. That way I can
help with suggestions as to what may or may not work since I have been there.
We are going to try to take mostly couples and or mods at the house. Donna and I will be your hosts at the house.
I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about the ride for '07. We have been
working hard to make it better each year and I think we are going to succeed at
reaching that goal again.
I spent a weekend with Digger, the owner of Jack Pine Lodge, in order to work out the details for this ride. He is just a great guy to deal with and he wants us to have the best time ever. We have put a lot of thought into this years ride, but we are still
open to all suggestions to make it a better experience.
The lodging is going to be a bit different this year and we will have to work together
to make it work. Jack Pine Lodge has 5 cabins and one house to accommodate everyone. There is limited space available and the maximum occupancy is not fixed as it depends somewhat on sleeping arrangements within each cabin. It could range from 30 - 46 total occupancy. For that reason, it is important that you get together with others and work out sleeping arrangements and get your space reserved. We will do everything possible to work out an arrangement that everyone will be happy with. It is quite possible that some may have to or even prefer to stay in a hotel in Manistique or Wetmore. If we run out of room at the camp, riders will have to arrange their own lodging. There are no special pricing deals being made with any other hotels at this time. If it looks like we will require several extra rooms, I will be happy to try to set up a special deal for you at one of the hotels. I will list some hotels in the area at a later date.
The Cabins
Cabin 1: This one has two bedrooms. One double bed in each bedroom. It's a small cabin. A cot can be added if you have one. It has a full kitchen and a bath with
shower.
[attachmentid=27851]
Cabin 2: It has two bedrooms. One with a double and twin bed. One with two twin beds. It also has a roll-away bed and sleeper sofa in the living room. It has a full kitchen with table and chairs, a living area, and a bathroom with a corner glass
shower.
[attachmentid=27852]
Cabin 3: It has two bedrooms. One bedroom with two double beds and a roll-away. One bedroom with one double bed. In the main living area there is a double bed, a twin bed, a sofa/sleeper, and a roll-away. (Can add cots to this one, if you have them, it's big). It has a big living area with couches and a small table and chairs. There is a large kitchen with table and chairs separate from the other rooms. There is a full bathroom with tub. This is the only cabin with a TV.
[attachmentid=27853]
Cabin 4: This cabin is very house like with lots of neat old wood. It has three
separate bedrooms. One with twin bunk beds. One with one double bed. One with one double bed and one twin bed. There is also a roll-away bed and a fold-out couch in the living room. It has a full kitchen and an eating area with a large table and chairs. It has a bath with shower.
[attachmentid=27854]
Cabin 5: It has two bedrooms with double beds. They are separate, but not totally private. The walls don't go to the ceilings and floors and there are no doors on them. It has a living room with a futon chair and a table with chairs, and a bathroom with a shower. It has a microwave and a small refrigerator under counter in the bathroom. It's the only one with carpet. No kitchen. It's a small, kind of neat cabin.
[attachmentid=27855]
All cabins have except #5 have full kitchens with microwaves, dishes, coffee pots,
linens, showers, ready to go.
The House
2 bedrooms. One with 2 twin beds. One with a double. It also has a large loft with four double beds. Full kitchen and bath. Nice living room. This is a nice place that actually belongs to a friend of Diggers and they were nice enough to rent it to us for the week. It isn't normally a rental.
The Lodge
The lodge is a full restaurant/bar with the best food in the area. Digger will even order up your favorite beer by the case for take-out if you order ahead of time.

I also need to know your arrival and departure dates. That may change the room assignments some.
Money for your stay must be paid by January 10th. You can send a check or money order to me or you can pay me by Paypal, but you will have to add 5.5% to cover their take. E-mail (idooski@snowmobileworld.com) me if you need an address to send a money order or check to.
If you are going to arrive early or stay an extra day or two, you must contact Digger at the Jack Pine ASAP to make your reservations. Call him at 906/573-2414.

labudda 04-25-2006, 07:24 AM Put all the RTYP guys in the Big Bunk Keith. We all know each other now and already know who the snorers are LOL. Seriously I will bunk with just about anyone, if I can spend a week with JT then I can handle anything :!:
Don't know for sure if I will be there the entire week but this is one of my scheduled trips for the 07 season.
Snofrog can attest to the comment that Digger is a "great guy", as he spent the evening in his lazyboy watching satellite TV

JackPineLodge 04-25-2006, 06:01 PM Mark. Make sure you sled runs this time! I'd like to take a group through the marshes for a shor scenic run and then cut you loose to go play where you want to. It comes out at Indian Lake which is 3 miles wide and 7 miles long and a blast for the high speed lovers! Last trip we saw some good wildlife and even an eagle.

snow4mydooplz 04-26-2006, 06:15 AM Keith,,
First off, Thanks for all the work you have done on this and to all the other people who have organized and planned this out.
Second, I just wanted to say that Snowmutt and I are not too fussy about where we sleep. Rick would sleep in a squirrels nest as long as he could ride his sled.. :lmao: All I require is a shower everyday and a private bedroom but who we bunk or share a cabin with does not matter. I guess what I'm saying is we will stay whereever it best meets the needs of the SW crew. I'm going to PM you our cell phone numbers and our home phone # in case you need to speak with us in the up-coming months on this trip , details ect..
Thanks Again,

About 60 days ahead of time we are going to start taking deposits and/or payment for the whole week or time you are going to be there. I would very much like to have everyone paid in full before they get there so that I can enjoy more free time there and not have to worry about collecting money from everyone.
I'm open to suggestions!

idooski 04-29-2006, 04:00 PM We're about 95% sure that the charity is going to be research for the cure to breast cancer. That could change, but it really doesn't matter. The rest still works the same.
We also do a canned food drive. We are going to ask that all of you bring anything you can spare to donate to a local group. Digger is going to work on who to give that to for us. I want a truckload to donate this year.
What we do is go around to different dealers, distributers, and manufacturers and ask for donations to be raffled off. That is something that many of us can get involved in and I hope that some of you will. If you would like to hit up your local dealer, please get with one of us to get a letter about the ride to take with you. We don't have it done yet, but we just have to change last years a little and it will be ready.
Another idea that I would like to throw out there is the $20 grab bag that MikeD came up with for the Cochrane ride this year. I think it was a great idea! You could pre-order a $20 grab bag (it was well worth it) that has a bunch of doodads (donated) in it along with 5 raffle tickets included. The $20 went to the charity along with the proceeds from the sale of the rest of the raffle tickets. We also did a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds from that going to SW and we would like to consider doing that again. Corey will be there to recieve it this time.
Well that is the outline of the charity and money raising for the event. If you have anything you think we should do differently or if you have other ideas, please don't be shy. We are open to anything (almost).
Hope that all makes sense.
snow4mydooplz 04-29-2006, 05:51 PM That sounds good !
Rick and I will be happy to take a letter to our dealer ( Nor-Ride) and ask for donations..Mike is a good guy over there.
Jack Frost 04-29-2006, 06:55 PM We will not be coming empty handed either... I don't have a dealer... and the one that I have too deal with is a j#@k! So I will start collecting can goods( try to raise money too) in the near future! A lot of people I work with are big into riding so they should be good for somethig. :lmao: I know that snowoman( Jennifer) will figure out something she is good at that. Family should be good for some sort of donation.
I'am looking forward to meeting eatch and everyone of you!!!!

mlabudda, that shouldn't surprise you. I have not seen one person "North of the border" on any rides I have been on. God knows, our economy would love to see them come as well as most of the members on this site including myself would love to see our neighbors to the north. Perhaps, you should ask them why? I would be interested in knowing the answer to that myself, but I think I already know. :D
cooley 05-02-2006, 04:55 AM for one most people can only go on one BIG trip a year.
if i lived closer to Ontario or Michgan i would be there in a heart beat, but i cant see myself driving 24 hours to go sledding. well maybe in 15 years when the kids are grown up and moved out.

I understand 24 hrs cooley, that is a long trek to make no matter what. But we have a lot of members closer then that. JT and I went 14 hours to Cochrane and I don't regret a minute of it.... well perhaps the 45 minutes we were stopped on the road waiting for the truck driver to get pulled out of the ditch on the way home.

puree 05-02-2006, 04:34 PM I have a completed ride letter, but I havent had a chance to get it sent out. I want to keep track of everyone that I send the letter too along with a list of people/business's that each person will be contacting so we do not end up with 4 different members walking into the same dealership. With the rain we had today and the forcast for the rest of the week, it appears I may have the weekend off!!!! If this is the case, I will have a few minutes to sit down and get the ride letter sent out to those who need it.
Keith, I will be giving you a call tonight (I hope)
Dave, You guys didnt upset me at all by coming in late and surprising me,,,, LOL,,,, I think I thought it was as funny as you guys did. I will say I was whipped at the end of the week though as I had very little sleep before coming up, not much sleep while I was there,,,,
Why wont you be attending this years ride though?? You cant miss out on it,,, you have been to the last 2 and you dont want to miss out on the good times we have!!!

I don't do the golf thing any more. Something just had to go and since they got upset when I used my four wheeler as a golf cart I deceided they were far too stuffy for me.
The last round I played I did shoot six birdies: 3 ducks, 2 geese, and one pheasant. They said something about red neck, and I said no it's a ring neck! They just weren't very smart folks at all.

Yep, we're planning to have a big bonfire one night after dinner. Digger is working his butt off to stock up on enough wood to get him throught the summer and have enough left for us to have a fire during the ride.
We are also going to have a drag strip groomed right on the property if it plays out that we have enough room. Anyone in? heh heh

Have you guys ever been to Boon, Michigan? It's northwest of Cadillac, northeast of my cabin in Irons. They have a fire pit out behind the General Store and Filling Station in the pines. There is a shelter ring of trees around it to protect it from the wind and a pile of wood at the beginning of the season that won't quit. The fire burns non-stop all winter. What a great way to take off the chill for a few.
timespentsearching 05-16-2006, 10:59 AM it was pretty funny last summer my cousin a freinds and i were having a fire and the cop came and said we had to put it out cause it was to big it might have been over 12 feet in diamter but it sure was nice and after about 5 minute talking to the cop he said screw it and sat down with us for a hlaf hour of course this was in a little town in the middle of nowhere on a wednesday night put it was funny

Since my parents bought that home in Traverse City we are still trying to learn the area and I'm sure that is well within the limits of where we would ride. Problem is, I have been spoiled by the U.P and just love to get up there any chance I can get. but for a weekend get-a-way Traverse City area works too....Heck anywhere there is enough snow right?

Brian, I been keep'in an eye on this thread but so far it looks like everyone has riding partners.
I'am in the same situation as last year. Everyone I have talked to wont take a week off to come up.
I want to leave on Sunday sometime before noon and come home no later than the following Saturday.
I have a nice 4 wheeler and 2 place covered trailer and need a riding partner to help pay for gas expences.
I really prefer to drive as I carry a lot of extra junk just in case.
Looks like the rooms are going to be split up with snore's and non [I snore] so thats fine with me. Just dont want to be in a room with a bunch of young guys that want to raise hell all night "not as young as I used to be" hehe.
Not going to whine like a pup like last year and only going to say it once so anyone wanting a ride give me a PM...........Mike

snow prowler 07-15-2006, 11:54 AM Ok I amgoing on the SW Ride, but it's also stated a CHARITY RIDE. Im just curiuse on the charity part. Whats the charity part? And how does that work?
puree 07-15-2006, 05:51 PM I believe we are sticking with breast cancer again this year. Last year seemed to go very well. As for the charity part, I came up with a ride letter that was sent out to various companies for donations. We then have a raffle at the ride with all the proceeds going to the charity. We did very well the last 2 years with our stateside ride and I feel that this year we will see even better numbers.
There are a lot of things in the works for the different door prizes, some I dont really want to try to list yet as they are not set in stone,,, but I will say that there will be some REALLY NICE prizes there to be won.

snow4mydooplz 07-15-2006, 09:06 PM I will put one ( a box ) up at work as well and I'm sure Rick can gather something from work..
How and Where do we get this letter ?? We wish to take it to our Dealer, well possibly a couple of dealers but how does the letter thing work?
Have we ever had a pledge thing for miles ?? I don't know even 2cents a mile for a particular day would generate some money for the Charity.
I was looking at the pics up top of this page..........it's so HOT today I seriously could and would stick my head in a snow bank :p and love it ! 97 tomorrow......heat index in the 100's. :bash:

We lost three of our storage building due to arson about three weeks ago. Been busy with insurance stuff and investigators, plus the soon to be ex is toying with me so I haven't had much time to say howdie howdie. So, Howdie, Howdie. Thosught you would like to know the snowmobile club is buying two new Piston Bullies! One large and one smaller one for the tight trails. Plus the state has authorized a lot of money for new bridges and stuff. Things are looking good for the coming year.
Hope the $$$ work out so I can replace my sled that burned with no insurance. Not all bad though. Got the quads out just in time. Will have a nice new building up very soon and the mess all cleaned up so the JP will look better than ever! Tonite we are featuring a NY strip, 14 oz., aged, steak. Dang those things were good last time we did them! Think they are the best steaks I have ever eaten!
Other than that, hope all is well with everyone and you're getting those sleds ready to rock! Right Mark?

Good to hear from you Digger ! Hope things get better for ya.

JackPineLodge 07-30-2006, 07:32 AM No they don't cover stuff like that that has engines and should be covered seperately. If it was in the back of my truck and the truck was in the building and the fire came out of the NW at 2:30 AM on a Tuesday, then the truck insurance would cover it. But, the arson would have to be started by a Pigmy carring poison darts!
My homeowners will cover some damage to my boss plow and my trailer, but that counts as part of the contents even if it outside the building. But, We really didn't have a lot of coverage on personal stuff to begin with. They don't cover guns, antiques, collectables unless you have a seperate policy on them too. Only lost seven guns, maybe eight.
Storage insurance on sleds is pretty cheap. But with the premiums we pay on all our stuff is a ton of money, so extras just get to be too much. Could have been a lot worse if my cabin caught fire and lost everything! I figured that was going next! The fire departments have so far to go to get here the big building was gone by the time they showed up. They parked between the fire and my cabin when they got here and that saved this place. The heat was very intense!

Thanks all for the concern, but there are a lot of others that loose their homes and everything in one fire. I could go to bed, watch tv, play on the puter after the fire. I was lucky, these other people aren't and have to be just devistated by something like that.

snow4mydooplz 08-16-2006, 06:32 PM Rick and I have confirmed with our dealer about a donation/gift card for this event. While I was speaking with the owner, he did mention that he get's bombarded with people wanting the same sort of thing for these kinds of rides and that we were the first for this year so he told us we would be one of them he would help out. ( I know it helped we bought two sleds from him but who cares )..
This brings me to my suggestion: For those of you who are going to talk to your dealers maybe now is the time to get it done as the early bird gets the worm sort of speak.. :p This is a great Charity Ride and any and all help is going to make for a great outcome from S.W.

Brian we could have used a crane or a helicopter or something that day huh?
I almost forgot why I was coming to post.
Ok guys/gals....I am going to need some help to make it this year. My Excursion needs more work than I can afford to fix to get it road worthy to pull trailers that far and other situ-mo-ations are coming up. I will not be taking Heather it appears so just me and my sled but if possible I really really need a ride. I am trying to figure out how much ti is going to cost and get moneys together but am starting to get nervous.
if anyone has an open spot on the trailer please let me know as it would really suck to miss this event. I have cut out all otehr trips so that I may be able to go to this one. Thanks for any help.
jawonch 09-27-2006, 11:09 AM I know that FACE :) You should just ride your sled all the way up here. :lmao:
puree 09-27-2006, 06:26 PM Paul, one way or another, we will get you up there, so get that out of your mind.
Man Jamin,,,, that was too harsh!!! Man was I in there. but we did get it out a lot easier than in looked. Seems you had some great ideas on how to dig it out pretty easy,,, wonder how you come about that knowledge??? LOL Appears youve been in there a couple of times yourself eh???? lol
puree 09-27-2006, 06:38 PM Just come across this one,,,, was someone else in there also :lmao:
jawonch 09-27-2006, 07:10 PM Just come across this one,,,, was someone else in there also :lmao:

that was easy peasy,LOL. I didnt know you got a pic of that. Do you know if someone has video of me getting out of that? If so they should post it so I can watch it.
Cant wait for the next ride
That was not NEAR as wild as watching you "BOONDOCK" up the side of that mountain with 30ft deep snow.
I watch a bunch of other freaks calling themselves boondocking but they have no clue. I still wish I would have bought that other sled from you! I had so much.
I am standing here laughing so hard I cna hardly type...
Jamin...you remember when you let puree ride your sled and he barly gave it gas?
HAAAA!!!!!!!!
jawonch 09-28-2006, 12:57 PM LOL. Those were some good times; hopefully the next ride will be as fun. I need to get a helmet like yours so we can be twin bro's, that helmet is awsome.
By the way, is it your transmission that’s going on your Ford? I put three transmissions in my superduty, and my friend put a couple in his too. The trannies in them are so weak, especially when theirs a diesel in front of it.
jawonch 09-28-2006, 01:25 PM paul, forgot to add this for ya. Just a super quick clip of me screwing around in the back yard. Right click and put it on full zoom for the best picture. Cant wait to try the sled on water.....

FASTBLACK800CAT 09-28-2006, 02:56 PM Okay....now I am starting to get the itch. Had to take the sleds out of the trailer and in the garage in order to load the atv's in the trailer to head up to Baraga for my first Bear hunt. The smell of 2-stroke was pretty nice!!!! The bear hunt is under the belt and DA BEAR is in the freezer. We were hunting in Houghton county and ran the quad up and down trail 109 to and from some of the hunting sites. Sure made me think of running the cat down a snow covered, groomed trail.
It won't be long now and we'll be on this trip :p

Nah that happened early on. I put a Suncoast with ProLoc E40D in it. Plus upgraded the shift kit to a transgo.
They did some other stuff but I was really lucky to remember that much. It runs great on that I just wish it got a little better fuel milage.
The front bearings went out and they are $350 each plus labor. All this at a really really bad time for me so just taking me a while to get it up and running. I also have some ticking sound coming from the engine but not sure what it is.
I get a sled like yours and you get a helmet like mine...I will get the helmet.

Its all good unless you guys don't let me ride with you again this year!...
I am no dummy...I knows whos gots da snobungees.
I knows I know... I am just on a little ZX and probably can't keep up...
OK the tally is in and I will deffinatly need to ride along with someone if I am going to get to go. I can drive to meet someone as long as there is somewhere to leave my truck and trailer.
What kind of sharing costs is normal for a trip like this? Last year was nice. I just kept Brian and Dave drunk and stopped every 50 miles for fuel adn had them pay to fill it up. They still wonder why that thing is so bad on fuel.
I made about $700 after all costs for the ride. Thanks guys.
I can still do the drive and pull someones trailer thing but can't afford to make the trip in my truck alone so that is an option as well.
If anyone has an empty spot on a trailer for sure please let me know as I would love to go have some fun with you guys....
Keith Heather will not be going. I was unable to get a sled for her this year so she will be staying home...its MY vacation anyway!
