I was thinking about putting the bigger rear wheels and bigger front idler wheels on my 97' mach z, have any of you done this for radar runs, does it help much for top speed in 1000' feet? how much might I gain by doing this

i cant see how that would give u anything.i used to do this when my track would stretch out . if u change your drives then yes.. but gearing is much easier. 27-44

This could free up a small bit of horsepower by using a bigger wheel at the rear of the skid.

The track will have to make a wider turn around the wheel, meaning it doesn't have to change direction as quickly as before and it can maintain more speed.

Sort of like putting taller tires on your car to get a bit more top end

In theory it could work. Whether it will be noticable is the question.

I use the taller idlers only made by Fast. They reduce the wear on the bend dramatically but haven't noticed any more top end as there are so many varibiles like; temp-hard pack-level ground-wind and so on.
One other thing that has improved is when you let off the throttle it coast's a lot farther so maybe some top end can be had?
