They're not that teribly expensive at all. Might have to pick up a pack. Did you buy the 50 pack DVD-R ones?

Got the splitter done for now I think. Have to straighten the knife out a litte because it warped when we welded it. Should straighten out in the press without to much trouble though.

Wind has finally died down here now for the last few days. Still pretty cold out but at least there's been no wind. There's no talk of the temp coming up in the near future either.

Hope you manage to sneak in a ride if it warms up enough. Once I get the splitter moved around again I'm going to put the yamaha in and tighten up the track a little check it over and tighten up the drive chain in the gear box. Never have checked it so I figure it's time.

Hi Rick, if I pick up some I think I'll get the DVD-R.

I would like to but don't know if this old dial up internet conection will take it or not. :D Will see what I can do for ya. Might have to email it to you because last time I tried to post a video it didn't work to good.

There's talk of it warming up but who knows. They're not predictinig anything warmer then -15*C till next Wed. Then Thursday it's suposed to get up to around -4*C. It's -30*C here right now. I think it's blowing again a little too. Don't know for sure cause I haven't been out yet this morning. :D

Did you go look at that enclosed trailer yet?

Ryan

Rick K
02-10-2007, 09:53 AM
Ya I think I will get them to on the next batch Ryan DVD-R

Well at least you know how to post it like that I don't have a clue how to do that if I did I would swamp them over there with post of jokes ha ha so if you want to walk me though it I sure would appreciate it Ryan...

we both read the same thing but I here it's the rest of the month now this is stupid but I'm going for my walk right now and then I'm getting my sled running then going to meet a guy in woodlands to go riding we have been trying for sometime to get together for a ride never meet him before...

Change of plains Ryan I hope your sitting down I've been talking to you way to long ha ha I don't rush into anything you know just like a farmer ha ha ....I just need a spot to store stuff in so Glen was saying why spend all that money on that when you can buy a sea can they can't tax you on it ....plus I was thinking I could get some kid that does that painting and get them to put art work on the side of it like a picture of a mountain with a river etc you ca pick up a sea can 2,500 to 3,500...what do ya think of that Ryan it's my thought right now...

Monday I'm heading to Thompson on work taking the sleds my buddy and myself do a little sledding.....will post some pictures for you...

Rick

I think all I did was add it as a attachment. Just like you would add a picture. Can't remember for sure but I think that's what I did. I'm going to look and see if I can find a program to convert these videos that I've got to windows media player format. They take up allot less space that way. The way my camera takes video it has to be played on a quick time player.

I went out last night just before I put the sled in. Didn't go verry far cause I wasn't dressed for it. My head was getting pretty cold threw my toque by the time I got back. Couldn't go to fast otherwise my face would've froze instanly. Hope you don't get to cold out there.

I think they're great for that purpose. It makes for fairly cheap storage. If you can get a fancy mural on the side of it, it might even fight right in with the park. :D

How long will you be up there for? Should be able to put on a few miles up there.

Ryan

Rick K
02-11-2007, 07:50 PM
Wow we went 347 km Ryan..... Steve & Bill have Mach1 Ski-doo we went Woodlands St Laurent Oak Point Inwood Narcissi Gimli Winnipeg Beach Matlock Petersfeild Teulon Stonewall Warren then home it was a very nice ride we went down lake Winnipeg....had a blast some real nice trails over that way...

Yes I'm thinking about it.... I just need more storage area that's that...

2 to 5 days plus I'm not coming back without riding a few of them real nice trails they have up there...

I had to put some heat to the RX1 yesterday to get it to start it was stiff but with a little heat and a boost she went ....it's been a few weeks sitting outside...so this morning I thought I better go get the Phazer running to put on to the trailer to put it in the garage when I'm gone well it fired right up no problems....

[attachment=33512:100_2182.JPG]

Wow Rick, you guys sure racked up the miles yesterday. Just out of curiosity, how many miles have you got on the RX1 now Must be geting close to 10,000 now

How's the ice up there now? I'll bet with all the lakes and bush up there, there's a pile of trails to ride on.

I'll bet it was stiff siting outside in the cold all that time. You need a block warmer on there. :D I keep the Yamaha in all the time just so it doesn't have to bear the cold.

Ryan

Rick K
02-12-2007, 06:50 AM
Yes your bang on Ryan it's right there 10,000 I think I seen that number the other day...the ice is good .....yes the trailes over there are real nice and wide boy you can ride..

I did not start to get stiff or cool till Teulon I was real warm all day...

Yes I do ...but I put the Phazer on the trailer yesterday it was -30 out it started right up real good efi though...

must get going I some driving to do today plus I have to go to the city..before we leave...

talk to you when I get back I don't think I'm taking my lap with me this time...

Hey guys hows it going? Im sick as a dog again. My tonsils are acting up. Oh well as long as I can make it through the
weekend thats all that matters. Borden poker rally is Saturday and sounds like its going to be a blast. Well have fun and will talk to
you guys later.

Boy those pics of mine sure got things screwed up for this page. :D I'd change it but with my luck I'd end up deleting them.

Hi Jordan, that really sucks that you're sick. It's no fun that's for sure. You're going to have to get better pretty quick though so you can get out and put some miles on your sled. Season's coming to a end pretty soon.

I used to leave the Yamaha outside some nights, when it was real cold I couldn't use the electric start cause the battery wouldn't turn the engine over fast enough. That's one of the things I don't like about the 4 strokes, no pull start.

Hope you have a good trip.

Hi Rick, good to hear your back. What were you actually doing up there with work?

Sounds like you managed to get in a few good kms while you were up there. Did ya take any pics?

Snowming here a little bit now but I don't think it's going to amount to much. Darn wind came up with again too so that's not going to help any.

Hey guys hows it going? My tonsils are still bugging me and I think the stator fried in my Exciter.
Oh well. Megan from Airdrie was up this weekend and she drove my vmax right over one of
those log fences. I don't know how she got so lucky cuz the ski should of went under the top rail
she should went over the handle bars. Im so happy no one was hurt though. It was the worst
feeling in the world watching it all happen and knowing that there is nothing you can do. This
weekend were going on the Asquith poker rally cuz there having another one. But thats all I
know so have a good one guys and will talk to you later. Bye bye

02-21-2007, 07:21 PM
Hi Jordan sorry to hear about your tonsils, that's no fun at all. Wow, that's a little to close for comfort ehh. Glad no one was hurt. Sounds like it could've been allot worse. Did it hurt the sled at all? Did you manage to get a few miles on before it happend?

Had a couple of inches of real fluffy snow today. Haven't been out lately on the yamaha at all. Been checking out new sleds on the net the last few days. Sorry Rick, no apex though. :D I think my next sled will be a New Ski Doo. That is as long as they don't change the sled that I want to buy for the worse in the next couple of years. Looking at a 600 SDI Renegade. That's a semi long track sled. That's kind of the way I want to go. I don't want a real long track, they're to hard to turn in low snow conditions. I think it'll handle some of the deep snow without to much trouble. Few guys on here have them I see. This is plans for the future some time though. I'm going to have to put a few bucks into the yamaha this summer I think. My sliders are getting down, need new carbides, new track, go therw the clucth and replace the bushings weights and some other things while they're in there. Steering is starting to get a little bit loose as well. Not bad but there's some free play on the handle bars. I'm basically looking at getting it back to the way it was when we got it.

Ryan

yammerhammer7
02-22-2007, 09:19 AM
Ryan what ever you do don't buy a skidoo. It's a skidoo hahaha. Stick with Yamaha.
Oh well hopefully whatever you buy works out for you. Have a good one and yah we
ended up putting on a few miles before that happened. No damage to the sled and your right
it could of been a lot worse. Well have fun and will talk to you later.

Jordan

poor farmer/logger
02-22-2007, 09:30 AM
Ya, I figured that was coming. :D I don't know I just like the way the Renegade looks, it's real light too. Dry weight is only 489 lbs. I want something that I can throw around kind of like my old Skiroule. I don't know what the attack weighs on Yamaha's side. I believe that is the comparable machine that yamaha has got. Could have my models mixed up though too.

Ryan

Hi guys, had a nice little storm blow threw here on Friday. Left 4-6" behind so the fields are real nice now. How much did you get down at Saskatoon Jordan? Boy if we get another good storm the roads are gona be blocked real good. Even after that one the North South roads were blocked off pretty good in some spots.

Had the Yamaha out for a little spin this afternoon, managed to find some real nice soft snow to ride in. Was having lots of fun till I just about buried the Yamaha. :D That thing is sure a pig to move around in the deep snow.

In the process of putting all new brakes on the semi trailer now. Sure is a heck of a job. Got to go to P.A. tomorow and pick up a couple of more parts and then it will be all done though.

Where you at Rick, haven't hear from you in a little while???

Hey Ryan I don't know how much we got but I barely made it through some of the country roads to
make it out to Asquith for the poker rally Saturday. Funny story I was following this chick on a 700 Saber Cat and she was going like super slow like 5mph down the trail then there was a opening so I passed on the rhs near the fence and she came back towards me so I pulled over while going wide open and the snow sucked me into the fence took out 3 poles on the barbwire fence went over the hill hit a bump and rolled my sled. Needless to say I think I'll be parting out my 95 vmax now. Oh well took the handle bars in the chest and am sore from my head to my toe. Just really thankful that no one was hurt. It blew a belt apart on the way home and it sounds like the spare was going to blow or the track is ripped. But thats all I have to say for now so have a good one and will talk to you later bye bye.

Hi Jordan, just wait till we get another good storm. Should be interesting if we do. Last march we got more snow in the first week then we did all winter. It could get real interesting yet. :D

Sounds like your luck that you didn't break any bones or get hurt worse. Snowmobiles can be replaced but humans can't. Just remember someday those wounds will come back to haunt you. :D :(

Happy Birthday Rick. Hope you've been out sleddign this last week.

Happy Birthday Rick.
Oh Ryan I was going to let you know I might of hurt my head when I rolled my sled cuz I might buy a 1999 Arctic cat powder special. It has a blown engine and sounds like I can pick it up for $1500.oo Thats all I know for now but I'll let you know what comes out of it. Oh yesterday I was so sore it wasn't even funny. Oh well will talk to you all later and safe sledding. Bye bye

Hi Jordan, just got a email from Rick and found out why he hasn't been around the last week. His place got brocken into last week and they took just about everything. They even took his new phazzer. Luckily they got it stuck in a snowbank and abandoned it there.

Artic Cat, maybe you should go in and get checked out. :D . No there not all that bad, just about bought a zr 500 back then new. We hung on for another year though and found the yamaha. What size is it?

Ryan

02-28-2007, 12:49 PM
Oh man thats to bad for Rick I feel for him. Its a 99 600 powder special with an 1 1/2" track. It sounds like the thing is blown to pieces. Oh well what do you do? I'll probably pick it up for $1000 other wise I think I'll leave it. I think the crank is worth 1200 for a reman. Well have a good one and hope to hear from you soon.

Jordan

poor farmer/logger
02-28-2007, 05:04 PM
Personally I'd just go spend the extra couple thousand and get one that's running and in decent shape. If you have to buy pots pistons rings crankshaft on and on and on, it's going to add up to quit a bill. How's the rest of the sled? Must have quiit a few miles on it if they took the engine out or else someone drove the crap out of it.

Ryan

yammerhammer7
03-01-2007, 10:40 AM
Hey Ryan hows it going? Just was fighting with the guy last night with a price on the sled. He wanted 1500 really bad a told him 1000 and neither of us would budge for the longest time. So in the end I ended up picking it up for $1200. Then before I went and looked at it I priced everything out through my buddies account at Rec Supply. So with his discount I can get it running for $1400. So the sled will end up costing me $2600 and thats with a new reman crank two pots, two pistons complete gasket kit and top needle bearings and plugs. So I guess for a brand new engine thats not bad at all. The sled has 2300 miles on it and is in mint shape. Not even a tear in the seat. Theres a 700 in the paper for 4500 right now but I figure its worth a easy 3500. Shouldn't be a problem getting that out of it. Well have a good one and will talk to you later. byebye

poor farmer/logger
03-01-2007, 02:40 PM
That's pretty reasonable. Why don't you keep it? sounds like once you get it fixed up it'd be a pretty good sled.

I've been trying real hard here the last few days to round up a new track for the yamaha. The old ones getting wore out. Plus it hasn't got nearly enough traction for that engine. Best price I've gotten so far locally is 545 for a predator 1.25" track. That's cliped every 3rd window. Haven't tried Rec suply yet but from past experience they've been pretty high. Bought a few bike parts there and paid a pretty good price for them.

Ryan

yammerhammer7
03-02-2007, 10:34 AM
I may just keep it once I got it all back together but I was thinking of selling it and buying a 98 srx thats like brand new. Oh well I guess will see what happens. Yah not sure if you heard about that head on collision on Hwy 7 yesterday morning but that was buddy that died on the way to work. Sounds like he lost control and had a head on with a mini van. He was one of the nicest people you'd ever meet. Well have a good on.

Jordan

poor farmer/logger
03-02-2007, 06:40 PM
Hi Jordan, you might get youself into trouble with all that hp. on the SRX. They're sure a fast sled. They ride like crap though I hear.

I did catch just a glimpse of the news and they were talking about a accident, I'm not sure if it's the same one that you're talking about though. That's a terible thing to have happen. I heard that the roads were pretty bad at the time though. What was he driving?

Ryan

yammerhammer7
03-05-2007, 09:42 AM
Hey Ryan he was driving a Ford Focus. It was done right up to. It had the stabilizer bar put in and it was chipped and Im not sure what else he had done to it. Well pulled that 99 apart and I picked it up for $1200 and I managed to get away with $1100 worth of parts. So thats a bonus. SO for $2300 I'll have a descent sled. The engine will be completely rebuilt. That srx is a rougher ride but pretty easily you can add extensions and a longer shock and its not bad at all. Another thing is you can push a tonne of horse out of them by porting them and then if you big bore them it gets stupid then you can stroke them after that and push like 285 horse. hahaha I should do that. ahha Well thats all I know for now so have a good one and will talk to you later.

Jordan

Hi Jordan, that's one of the biggest reasons I don't think I'll ever own a small car.

Sounds like you'll have it fixed up pretty quick ehh? Take it out for a test ride on the weekend maybe??

They are a nice sled, and yes you can do lots of mods to the engine but who really needs that much hp. My Yamaha is completely stock and it's got more power then I'll ever need.

Just ordered a new track for it this morning threw Royal Distributing. Going to go threw the suspension and get it all fixed up again.

Ryan

yammerhammer7
03-07-2007, 11:45 AM
Yah I don't think I would ever own a small car either. By the way got the sled back together Monday night and that things got such a bad air lock in it and theres no bleed screw and I have to clue how to get it out. Im thinking that maybe the thermostat is weak. When we held it to the heat gun she opened up and snow closed it but it took a lot to open it up. For 65 bucks I'll buy a new one. Yah seems like shes got alright power not like the srx but good enough. Yah no messing around figure get her together right away. Yah I went to the funeral yesterday and boy was that the hardest one ever. His fiance was such a sweet heart and they didn't deserve that. They just got engaged on Valentines day. But thats all I know for now so have a good one.

Hi Rick, it's good to have you back. :) Have you planed any more trips yet? No Problem Rick. Hope you can get everything back to normal with minimal headaches.

Good to hear Jordan. Do you mean that you've got a air lock in the cooling system? Any idea as to why the engine went out in the first place? Maybe there's some unsolved problems there yet. You could try presureing the cooling tank a little maybe?? I've never had that problem so can't help you to much there. Usuall it's not to much of a problem I don't think. That sure seems high for a tm. stat. Never priced on out for a sled though so maybe I'll be in for a surpris if I do. That should be a pretty fun sled in the powder if it isn't too heavy. I've never been on one so I don't know what they're like at all. Is it EFI?

Wow, that makes it extra hard for the family and friends. It's always sad to hear about things like that.

Ryan

03-08-2007, 11:27 AM
Hey Rick welcome back and hopefully everything works out for you. Well last night I took the sled out. I cut the thermostat apart and it seemed to push the antifreeze through so thats a bonus. Its got flat slide carbs and the weight transfer on that suspension is outta the world. You have to love a cat skid now only if I could put like a yamaha engine in there then I would have dependability. I have to say the way it rides is really really nice. The sled is definitly heavy but the smooth ride sure had me suprised. I still love my exciter though its a fun lite little sled. Well have a good one and will talk to you guys later. Bye bye

Jordan

I always thought those little suzuki's were pretty good. My Sister has a ZR 500 carb though and they've put two engines in it now. I know the 2nd time for sure though was carb problems. A friend of mine had a ZR 500 EFI and as far as I know he never had any problems with it. I'm going to play around with the weight transfer on my Yami just to see what happens. I've never adjusted it or ever really looked into what effects it will have on it. All I know is the more weight you transfer to the back the softer the suspension gets. At least that's what I've been told. When I've got the skid out I'm going to tighten up the shocks a little just so the suspension doesn's sag quit as much when I'm on it. It's not to far off spec but I want it just a little stiffer. I can't ever remember bottoming it out though. How long is the track on that sled Jordan?

Hi Rick, pics came up for me. Some great shots too. Looks like you guys found some unreal trails ehh?

Do you mean windows vista Rick? I haven't hear to much about it yet is it any better then windows xp?

Should give them buggers one helluva surprise if they kick the door in again. Should have a big rotwieler(sp??) to meet them at the front door. :D I'll bet you sure breathed a sigh of relief when those guys found the phazzer.

Did you have to go threw customs? I see the sign says you have to clear customs first. I've always wondered how many people just drive across the border where ever they feel like on a sled or quad what ever it may be.

Hi snow4, your always welcome over here.

Hi Jordan, sounds like you might want to put a little higher lug on there. Probably do allot better in the powder with a tall lug. Mind you I guess not every winter is like this one.

No better way to relax after a long day of sleddign ehh.

I'm sure you'll catch on real quick. Is it that diferent from xp?

I sure hope them buggers never come back to your place again Rick. Once is bad enough. They'll be in for a surprise if they do though. :D We've been going to put up a gate in our main aproach for a while now. the bigest problem I see with that is though is they automatically know your not home. You just about have to leave it shut all the time just to keep the thieves guessing. We've got some bad neibours around us and I'm affraid that it's only a matter of time before somethign goes missing. I pray to God it doesn't but who knows. They had just better hope that I'm not home when they try to steal something.

That's a pretty slick way of doing it. I imagine they're out patrolling the main trails every now and then too.

It's been a little while since I've had it fired up but I've split up a couple of chords with it. Works real good. Sorry though no video yet. One of these times maye I'll remember.

We've got a pile of snow laying around now. Hard to believe that in another few weeks it'll all be gone. It's sure going to make for a interesting spring with all of this water runnign. I've got my dirt bike ready to go so I'm going to go around checkign out all the spots that could wash out. It actually warmed up enough yesterday that I took it out and played in the snow. Only got stuck once. :D

I was out on the Yamaha tonight and took a couple of pics for you Rick.[attachment=34470:100_2215.JPG]

Hi Rick, should be around for a couple more weeks anyways. They are forcasting +12 for tuesday though so who knows. I hope when the snow does start to go that it goes fairly quick. I hate that time inbetween where everything is all muddy and you can't move around.

Our dog ran away on us this morning. Mom made a few phone calls tonight but no one has seen him. I don't konw where the little bugger took off to. I've got the Yamaha in pieces too so I can't go looking for him either. It's not like him to take off from home. He's done it twice now this week though. First time he came home when I called him. Today though he took off for good I think. We'll have to wait and see I guess. He only takes off when we leave home. As long as there's someone around home he stays put. As soon as we all go now though he starts walking around.

Are you going to look at another Yamaha?

Hope you guys got out for a good ride. I'm hoping to have the Yamaha all back together tomorow sometime but if things don't go right it might not happen.

Hi Rick, that's good to hear. Are you close to the kms that you put on last winter?

Getting closer to getting the Yamaha all back together. I have to bolt the suspension in yet and put hte brake and parking brake on. Don't know if it'll be running tonight yet or not. I replaced all but two bearings in the skid. I can change them out at a latter time without much trouble so I just packed them full of grease again. Changed the bearings on the drive axle and the new track. It should be good for a while again. Hopefully anyways. It's sure a big job though. Ran into a few problems along the way too which didn't help. I had to use a puller to get the bearings off of the skid. They were stuck on there real good.

I'll let ya know if I get it out for a rip tonight or not.

Could be the aftermath of them little buggers that stole it on ya. Good thing you had a spare with.

Didn't quit get it all back together tonight. Have to bolt in the suspension and put oil in the chaincase yet.

Forgot to say before too that our puppy dog came home this morning again. He's been all played out today though. I think he's stiff tonight becasue he's not moving around much. Serves the little bugger right though. :D

Rick, I sent you a link via email. Let me know if you get it.

Hey guys hows it going? Did a lot of sledding this weekend. Put on over 200 miles on the cat already. That thing sure rides nice compared to the rest of them. Went out Friday night saturday and then yesterday we played around some more. Sure would be nice to find some good drifts to hit. Looks like we might not have any snow left for next weekend at the rate its melting up here. Oh well time to bring out the quad and get it all running. Well have a good one guys and will ttyl.

Hi Jordan, that's good to hear. Glad you're getting out enjoying the last weeks of winter. I had forgotten that you had picked up a quad last fall. It's a Yamaha Blaster or Banshe isn't it? Can't remeber the model right off hand. Lots of big drifts around here yet. Lots of snow too for that matter.

Well, I got my sled going again this morning. No pictures of the new track yet. Not to much to really see anyways. It sure helped in the loose stuff, it hooks up real good on the hard pack too. It's kind of hard to tell what it's really going to be like with this snow that we've got now. it's 6" of water on top of 2' of powder pretty much. It sure is sticky out there now. Gona go out for a little rip tonight once it starts to cool off again. Might get a better idea then what this track is capabel of. I was sure amased at how I can back up with it now though. Before with my stock track I couldn't move anywhere in reverse. Today I backed up a soft snow drift to get turned around. It just chewed it's way along till I got to where I needed to be.

Getting there Ryan I hope to take the sled north again for a ride Thompson...Yes I do remember doing things like that years ago but not now unless I have to...I need a big shop like yours then I might do it again...new track wow that’s good eh...

No what happened was I put the brake on and Michael did not look when he was unloading it of the trailer and I heard it making a squeak I think that was part of it ....as I start to think your could be right they did get it stuck eh...who knows...but your right...

Yes I did Ryan wow what was baking eh...

Hi Jordan sounds like you are having fun with your new sled...yes the snow is going quick here to it is going to cool down over the next few days I hope

I just did it in the small part of the shop. Had a hanger in the celing that I hung the yamaha up to. It took a little bit of tools to do the job but nothing to fancy. Had to use the bearing puller to get the idlers off of the bearings. Then I pulled the bearings off the axle with a 2 jaw puller. Worked out pretty good. I had mom helping me put it back together so that helped allot. She's actually a pretty good mechanic. She's been twisting wrenches with dad for quit a few years so she's gotten pretty good over the years. :D Between the two of us we got everything figured out. I took a few pictures along the way and that helped a little too.

Sun's just starting to set now so I might go out for a little rip right now. Might take the camear with to just for the heck of it.

They're talking of lows around -20 here for the end of the week so the snow should be around for a little while yet. southern Sk. will be getting short of snow by then though I think.

Sure made a mess didn't it. Poor little Cat backhoe got it too. At least that's what it looks like. Big job to get it all cleaned up again.

Hey guys hows it going? Wow Ryan that sled sure can push through quite a bit of snow. you are correct its an old Yamaha Blaster that I picked up last year. Im going to buy a big bore kit, exhaust and then probably stroke it later on. Hahaha never can have to much power. I might buy all new plastic as well and give it a complete make over. Maybe even paint it. Well thats all I have to say for now so have a good one and will talk to you later!

Hi Ryan

looks great the new track did you get it on sale ....how big are the lugs...that sled looks mint eh...we all have done thing like that from time to time with bolt eh.. that's sure is great you and your mom can do things like that time well spent in my eyes as you now mom's are special...too

I just want to ride one more time around here then off to Thompson we should be able to ride there till April or May I hope darn them guys got all are sled pictures from Thompson...I did not get them to cd....and some good pic's...

I'm making some head way today with the insurance company I have my new inspiron with vista mouse new dig same one I found one FujiZ1 I like it...sled stuff I spent over 3,000.00 that's done with they agreed now we just have to put Ipod Bose docking picture cards etc...,

wow I have my xm sat working on my laptop Doug from work asked me today do you have your xm working on the desk top no I said so he showed me how to do it simple...wow it's still light out...

boy I sure go down at this time of the year I just don't want the snow to go yet I don't have enough sleding in yet...well I guess it will be time to buy Claudette a new Quad she sure has been great support though all the bad times ....plus then I will have a new buddy to ride with eh..she will love it.... time to start dealing I guess....I was thinking 350 to 400 ya it must be Yamaha....

Hi Jordan, yea it does pretty good in the powder snow. Before I put the new track on I would've had to go and break trail in front of the yamaha to get going. That time I just opend the throttle up a little bit and I took right off. I would've spun down before with the old track. Gona need some pics of your quad once you get it all fixed up. :D

Hi Rick, It was sort of on sale. I ordered it threw Royal Distributing. I'm not sure if it was really on sale or if the price had just droped that much on the track. I got it for 489.70 I think. It cost $32 to ship it here with the sliders and all the bearings. I figured that was pretty cheap. It's a 1.25" track. Any higher of lug and I would've had to put on smaller drivers to get the extra clearance. It might have just barley fight in there but I think this track will do all I need it to. I've tried to keep it looking good, it needs a few things to get it back to the way it was when it was new but the old girl will still go along pretty good. Mom's a pretty big help around here. She pitches in when ever she can.

From the way joey talks it sounds like they'll have more then enough snow to go sledding into april. Haven't talked to him directly but that's what he's been sayin on R.P.

Glad to hear that the insurance company isn't causing you to many headaches. I know some people have had a hard time dealing with them over the years. Some it's just easy. All depends on who you deal with and your history with them I guess.

I don't have a sattelite radio at all yet. I've got enough FM stations that I get by okay for now. I can usually find something decent to listen to between the three of them. It's light here till about 7:00 now. Then it starts to get a little bit dark and by quarter to eight it's almost black out.

In all honesty it doesn't really bother me that much. I really hate the transision period though from a muddy mess to semi muddy mess back to a muddy mess with the april showers and or rain. The gravel roads get so soft too.

I'm sure claudette would love to go quading too. She's sure done lots of sledding this winter. Bet she's put on at least twice as many kms as I have. :D I was told to go with the 450 kodiak instead of the 400. Seems the 450's are built a little better. I have no idea if there's any truth to that or not but that's what I was told.

What ever happend to hap? I take it he never got your old sleds fixed up for the winter?

Yes that’s a good price Ryan I think .....yes they shut down Waskwatim site yesterday afternoon I was told today....

Yes the guy has been great so far .....picked up my new IPod, Bose docking station, camcorder satellite radio...the only thing left is my chains to get...

Once you get a sat radio you will say wow I have it from the factory in my truck for 2 years....so I can use that number on my computers I have it set up on my desk top at work ....and laptop at home and the one they took was a portable one so I got the portable one again I did not even have it activated.... 9.00 bucks a month...

Well the temp here is -15 so the snow is not going anywhere yet .....the spring is not bad but cold for playing in the water when your along way from home and wet....I guess I don’t get enough sledding in.....

No kidding she has beat Michael big time this year....I was thinking 350 to 400 for Claudette but I guess I have to start looking Troy will have let me take on for the weekend....he keeps telling me to take a Apex ....no no...not yet....

Often asked myself why you have not asked me about Joey or Hap well it goes this way they did some business together and it went bad ....both of them are at fault and I got stuck in the middle...so they don’t talk to me ...it was not a big deal they could have worked it out that’s why I became involved to fix the problem but them both are too pig head....it went as far as going to court.....do you believe it I was going to pay Hap the lousy 180.00 around that just so the fight would stop....but neither of them where a true friend because they quite talking to me nuts eh and knowing that I don’t care....yes it does bother me I thought both of them where good fiends....I was Haps best man but he longer married....

Glen keeps me filled in about Joey he is still a good guy in my eyes but Hap I will leave that for another thing....take someone to court over 180.00 bucks sorry but get a life....

As for the sleds they never ran all winter he blew the engine in the 550 he did nor even put the covers on them I gave to him when I sold them to him...they are sitting outside in the sun all last summer this winter etc...

Is that a ice road Rick? I imagine the banks are getting pretty big on the sides now ehh.

Sounds like you've just about got er all organized again.

Has the monthly price droped on those sat. radios? I had it in my head that they were more expensive then that. That's one of the reasons that I never bothered looking into them at all. Sirus and XM are one company now, had you heard about that? Can't remember who bought who for sure but it hapend near the end of last year some time. I know some people were scared that theire montyly bills were going to go up because of that joining. So how does it work on your comp. Is it threw the internet or can you hook up the sat. radio to your computer some how? I'm a little curious now.

Sure got cold here the last few days. -25*C this morning. I fired up the yamaha to go looking for our dog again. It was sure stiff to get going. I had it outside last night. I just took off with my toque and neck warmer on my head. My head got cold pretty quick though.

Did you get any snow out of that storm that went threw Southern Sk.? They got anywhere from 2" to close to a foot of snow some where saying.

It's good that you two can do something together that you both enjoy and can just get away from everything once in a while.

To tell ya the truth I had forgotten about hap untill the other day when you mentioned a new quad and I got to thinking. Man is that ever childish behavior. To take someone to court over $180, that's just rediculous. After it was all said and done what did it really get him. He lost two friends and made himself look like a fool I guess. I'll bet it kinda makes you wish that you would've just let them battle it out ehh. It's sad when something like this happens, all it does is make hard feelings. Nobody wins with something like this.

Sounds like hap needs a good kick in the @## to get him out of that slump that he's in. Seems like he's got it in for everyone even if they didn't do anything. Even the poor sleds. :D

Ryan Wuskwatim is the dam just out of Thompson....

I wish not yet I have some way to go yet maybe by spring time I hope you now loading IPod back up.etc

Yes it’s 9.00 that not to bad I think...I have it for 2 years in my truck and I will keep it going too...when you’re up where there is no radio it sure nice to have...I heard that they had a merge....I just punch in my truck ID number then make a password and away I go...it’s sweet...threw the net...you might need high speed...

It’s -15 here going for a ride today and tomorrow ....

Just a trace of snow Ryan...

No kidding eh it’s good just to get away for a weekend I might have to buy a camper again.....smaller then the last one....

No kidding eh like get a life I guess I better take Hap to court he owes me 280.00 I would not waste my time...you see I sold my outdoor wood stove back to him then he sold it received the money from the guy then spent it then asked me can I pick up the woodstove....I told home at the beginning money in my hand before the stove leaves the yard....I had a felling about this.....so it took some time people started asking me your not using you stove no it’s for sale I had guys offering me more than Hap was going to pay so after a few months I said are you taking this stove or what....he said yes .....so one Sunday he phones me and says can I pick up the wood stove I said yes if you have the money....he said no I will pay you though.....I said when January March June he said I don’t know so I so no you can’t pick it up till I have the money in my hands....so he hung up the phone 1 hour after he was here with the money...all that stuff with Joey was going on then....so he really has not spoken to me...I’m not a bank....he is behind the eight ball big time....I could go on and on all the things I have given him over the years welders tools etc to use that I have not gotten back yet....

gotta go going sledding it's snowing out too....yes yes yes...

Hi Rick, I had never hear of it before.

Ya I bet it'll take a while to get all of your songs and all the other little things that take time to get straightend out done. Kind of stuff that you forget about untill one day you need it.

If I was up North or out by Hundson Bay I think I'd definatly have one. For now though I think I'll just stick with what I've got. I don't imagine it would work to good on our slow slow dial up either. :(

Just picked up a Ritchie Bro's auction flyer yesterday, man for a pile of auctions coming up again. Makes you wonder if there'll be anyone left on the farm. Seems there's always someone to buy it though.

No more snow lately at all. Could use a couple of inches on top just to keep the sliders cool. Been pretty cold here too.

Like I've said before Rick, you need one of them toy boxes. Throw the quads or sleds in the back and away ya go. :D

Seems there's always a few people around like that. I know of a couple around here. They never really seem to get verry far in life at all. They've always had things handed to them on a silver platter and in the end they just blow it. One neibour of ours had 7 or 8 quarters of land given to him. Now he's got nothing but a worthless house and a old car to drive.

Hope you get in lots of miles this weekend.

Yes it’s is creating a pile of jobs in the province in the north.....

I just stopped by last night Michael loves doing that so he has a job we lessen to pretty much the same music this IPod hold 7,500 it is the new U2 one....

Your right Ryan

Wow I received mine the other day it was like a bible well maybe not quite that thick .....yes it like construction the big guys are buying out all the little guys then there will only be 2 or 3 left...then we will pay...

We too could use a foot or two ha ha...

They want to much money I`m still thinking of a sea can ......I sure would like a toy box but too much money plus insurance I can only insure so many thing Ryan I`m insurance poor already ha ha...

Well we did some riding on Friday we put 85 on but that was it....yesterday I was talking to Troy on the phone ....I just love to bug him will it`s getting close to make you a honest person again Troy...2007 Bruin with winch 6,500 .....2007 Kodiak 400with winch 7,400...

That doesn't sound to good, hope you have a safe trip.

Wow, 7500 songs ehh. That's allot of music to listen too. I just about bought a sandisk 4gb mp3 player last year but I chickend out. Didn't want to spend the 200 bucks on it.

They've got a 2nd edition out now too. Ritchie Bro's. just bought out a auction company in southern Sk. called Clarke auctions. They had to print a extra book with his auctions in it plus some of thier own. It's about a 1/3 to 1/2 as thick as the main one. They way things are headed to me it looks like in the end the banks equipment company's and the chemical company's are going to own it all. Then it'll just be a few great big coperate farms. Just about everyone is finaced right to the hill. Couple more bad years and things could get real scarey.

I was just kidding ya Rick. :D Have you done anymore looking for a sea container? I hear ya on the insureance part. Seems like there's always something coming due around here. We've got way to many things to keep plated but what do ya do, you need them all.

Sounds like you're getting pretty serious now about buying another quad. You always have to shop around though I've found. Somewhere you can usually get a better price sometimes not though. Those prices don't sound too bad. Tell him you'll take a new apex next winter if he does even better on the price. That way both you and claudette win. :D She get's a new quad and you get a new sled. See how easy it is. :lmao: :lmao:

Yes we did not go to Brandon took the blade off the quad so we should get a storm now....

Yes it’s sure is allot Ryan I don’t think Michael will get a 1,000 but who knows...

I here you it’s not good/////

I thought you just had a brain crap you know you are getting older eh ha ha...I do get a few from time to time you know ha ha..........

..ya just paid my American express today for all the sledding stuff plus computer stuff 6,900.00 I think them insurance guys will be getting a call tomorrow I need some money please...345 air miles sweet...they still have my chains to do yet that will be over 3 .........

Yes Claudette said wow your buying me that for our 25 th this year I said hay great idea Claudette then you can buy me a Apex in the fall good deal for me for once ha ha...

All joking aside Ryan we did have a blast this winter sledding so why would we not have fun quad riding eh....go away on a few summer trips trail riding...

Sounds like it woul've been a pretty nasty trip if you had gone. Probably just as well. It's no fun being out there on the hwy when it's like that.

Just curious as to what you mean by chains Rick. Do you mean like logging chains??

Sounds like a heck of a anniversary present for her. Probably worth it too. I'm sure you guys would get lots of miles in over the summer months. I'd sure like to more quading and biking with my family but I can never get them home here anymore to go. They're alwasy to busy with other things. The guy I worked for that one summer wants to go riding this summer though so hopefully I can get in a few good miles with him. It's just like when I go snowmobiling, there's no one else to go with around here.

Can you get to that hunting cabin of your relatives in the summer? That would make a nice little spot to stay at during the summer I bet. Go out there on quads for a few days and just relax and get away from all the hustle and bustle.

Yes it would have sucked that’s for sure Ryan my sister was at lake of the woods it took them 4 hours to get home most times it’s 2 and a bit ....

Chains I had to go back to see what the heck I was talking about but had a good laugh...you see you sent me off down the wrong road logging chains.....neck & wrist from years ago my older sister husband sells jeweller to the stores...so I picked some up off of Brain for real cheap...but to replace it though the store it’s nut’s downright nuts....wish they could just give me the money ...............new quad....

You are 100% right Ryan on the Quad...who knows maybe we can take a trip up your way to do some quad riding ...that would be great to get out with that guy to ride...it’s always better to ride with someone eh even the safety factor too....

Yes we can Ryan we will be heading up that way on the quads .....II stopped by to see Troy today I was in the mood to give him a rough time first off I asked him about the Phazer over heating you can read what he said in the Yamaha area....so then I started on the 400 he does not know what to say I just get him going....he coming down I have a winch now...and 7,500 nice looking.....

Wow, glad she got home safe. Lots of people out there don't stop and realise that they have to slow down a little or allot and just take it easy.

:lmao: Boy was I ever off. Glad you got a laugh out of that. I had to laugh too when I read what you actually meant.

That would be pretty sweet Rick,it's to bad that we're so far apart. That's one of the things that's always goign threw my head when I'm out by myself riding weither it be snowmobile or dirt bike. What happens If I break down back in the bush in the middle of nowhere. Winter is even worse because there's no way to get back to the sled with a vehicle to pick it up.

Sounds like you had fun giving troy a hard time if nothing else. :D Sounds like you're getting pretty close to making a deal ehh? Is that 7500 tax in?

It would sure make a bad ending to a good day to have to end up walking home that's for sure.

I thought you had him down to 7400 with winch before Rick. Have you thought about buying out of province at all? You could save some money right off the bat doing that. Local service is sure nice to have though. I doesn't cost to much when you put it threw your house package does it? I think my brother said his dirt bike was somewhere around 50 bucks a year threw his house package. I might be way off on that but that's what I seem to remember.

Thanks allot Rick, Believe it or not I had actually forgotten about it when I got up this morning.I'm getting old though Rick. :( :lmao:

No kidding walking home....

I properly did tell you 7400 winches Yamaha bucks etc...anyhow here is the latest...and the one I’m looking at...

This is not from Troy either he going to smarten right up to beat this...I should buy elsewhere Ryan ....Troy should be cutting me some real great deals ....you know how much money I have dropped at his place from a year ago December 05 to know wow I was looking at all the bills...

Well I have so many numbers I went to the truck and these are the latest number and I think the one I will be dealing on....07 Kodiak 350 independent suspension comes with a winch installed with 300.00 Yamaha bucks all for 7,135.00....that’s this one

Plus taxes.....I have talked to Troy he is going to get back to me to see if he can match it or beat it ....I have a few more places to talk to yet...

Seen a real nice 450 cameo but too much....then the 400 too much too..after taxes it starts to hurt...taxes ....looked at a new Apex 13,200 they said....too much plus taxes...

Packed with features including Yamaha's bulletproof Ultramatic transmission,

mated to our On-Command 4WD system with rider selectable push button 2WD / 4WD / Diff Lock 4WD, and a new set of Maxxis tires, this little Kodiak workhorse will get the job done, with time left over for a trail ride. And with an all new sealed wet brake in the rear, you'll have added confidence when the weather decides not to cooperate.

Will I hope your having a great Birhtday Ryan....

Yes, troy should be cutting you some pretty sweat deals for you. Like you say you've droped a pile of money there over the years. That's why a guy has to shop around though I guess.

I don't know to much about them yamaha quads at all. Never been around them to much other then what I've heard from you I don't know to much about them.
It sounds like a pretty nice little bike though. It's got all the goodies anyways.

Had a pretty quiet day today. I took off for a little bit on the Yamaha this afternoon and drove up to the one quarter of land that we own. It's got lots of bush on it so the snow doesn't get a chance to drift at all. I've never seen it so nice up there. There was 3-5 feet of snow everywhere. I played around there for a while and then came home again. I did get stuck once though. I was driving pretty slow in some fairly deep snow, all of a sudden the back end droped down. I punched the throttle and just about made it out to my old tracks but I hit the ground and lost my traction. I just lifted the back of the sled up and moved it over a little bit though, gave it a little push and drove it right out. My old track I would've been stuck long before I made it back to my old track. I'm up to 810 kms now anyways.

So I take it you guys are heading up that way pretty quick? Should be able to get quit a few more miles in yet if you go up there.

Snow is setling down pretty quick here now. Suposed to get pretty warm over the next few days so by the weekend there might not be to awful much snow left. Might try and go for a ride on Sunday if there's still snow left.

I forgot, I meant to tell you earlier about a sale that future shop had on. Those cd-r discs that you bought before were on sale for a pretty good price. 100 Single sided DVD-or+R for 29.97 They were 4.7gb. I think the sale is probably over today though. It might carry over till tomorow though. I can't remember how long the sale went to. Just thought I'd let you know.

It's starting to get pretty muddy now in the yard, I can still get the Yamaha out of the shop okay though. I can drive it out into the road allowance and into the snow.

Snow is starting to get down here now. There's water starting to show up in some low spots allready. Another couple of days and I think she'll be pretty much over. There's talk of cooler temps again next week though so who knows. The yard is sure one big muddy mess now, I took the skidder out yesterday a little and started to blade the yard a little bit. It helped some where the dirt was starting to dry. I'll give it a few more days then I'll hook onto the drag with the skidder and get it somewhat leveled out again.

That wont do the snow that you guys have left any good. Is it pretty well gone now?

I think it's a pretty good price. I'm pretty sure that you can put pictures and other things on a dvd-r disc.

Looks pretty good, so did you put in your order? :D

Which one did you end up going with Rick, the 400 or the 350? You guys will have lots of fun with it.

Well, I was out for a little ride today. Not a volantarry one though. Had to go looking for our dog again. What a miserable ride that was. It was +7 or 8 when I was out. Anywhere you went you just sunk right to the bottom. I got stuck in my neibours drive way in the ditch. It was half full of water under the snow. I was going slow so that I didn't chew up his grass when I went across their aproach. Well, I sunk right to the bottom of the ditch. There was about 3 or 4 feet of snow and a foot or so of water underneath. Took me about 5 minutes or so to get myself out. Neibour was coming with his tow strap when I finally drove it out.

I can tell you one thing for sure, I'm not going out for a ride untill it gets below or right around zereo again. I even got stuck out in the field. I was going along and I dropped into some deep snow. The front end acted like a bulldozer and just kept pushing snow up infront of me. Finally I just spun out. Had to walk out infront of the sled then and break trail to get out.

Yes it’s going here too..I guess the skidder is quicker than the skid steer....

I think if you wanted you could still ride but it’s not worth it...in places we have lots of snow..

I did not get to future shop yesterday.....but I did take the Phazer into Troy’s place I posted some pictures in the Yamaha section...

350 Ryan I’m just thinking of putting mud bugs on it before it comes home because I think it might be a good idea...

Wow is your dog a female or a male....stuck is no fun...well did you find the dog Ryan...

Went out for a putt on the quad went to Woodlands fueled up then back home all in 2 wheel drive she was pulling hard in a few places though...I sure like them mud bugs...that ride made my mine up it will have mud bugs on it...I do remember when I bought the Grizzly it was funny how it would have to be in 4x4 all the time when off roading...then I put the bugs on and it was 2 wheel most of the time..

I hope you found your puppy dog...

We might get another sheperd in the spring will see.....

Been out on my dirt bike a few times now. Still to much snow and mud to drive in the ditches. It's all grid roads around here so I just ride on the roads. I took a run at the ditches by our house last night and I almost made it threw. :lmao: Drove into about 3' of snow. I got threw the worst of it though. I wanted to check the ditch to see if the water had made it there yet or not. Coming back out was interesting too. I thought I was on the aproach going out of the field but I mised it by a few feet. Back into that 3' snow again. This time coming up hill a little though. Got just about to the road and the little bike just stoped. I rocked it back and forth a little and drove right out though.

Boy the snow has sure droped today. Not much left now in places. Water laying everywhere too. I took the Yamaha out of the shop this morning so I could bring it down to the house to get it washed up. It got filthy after riding the ditches yesterday. All of that dirty snow sure made a mess of it. I got stuck again though trying to get threw the ditch. I managed to get it out and walk beside it till I got to a little bit harder ground. It was a good thing I had my rubber boots on cause I was in about a foot of water again.

Yep, mom and dad picked him up about 3 miles north of home. He went over to the neibours and their dog took him and went north to another yard. Wasn't verry happy with him when he got home again.

He's a male dog and he's not fixed. I don't know if it would help any to get him cut or not now that's he's started roaming. He just goes looking for company now.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put mud bogs on. You don't want to have to go walking threw the mud to get the quad hooked up to your winch or whatever to get it out if it gets stuck. That's no fun.

I'll make sure to check out them pics. Going to go out on my dirt bike now and have a look again at the water. Haven't been out today at all. Sun has just set now so I've got to hurry.

Yes I like how you said that Ryan almost made it through..holy smokes Ryan 3 feet of snow...yes it has drop here big time in the last few days...lots of water now...

Wow that puppy gets around eh does he pack a lunch when he goes...well one good thing he is looking for a female eh...

Yes I think I will make the call to Troy before I pick it up mud bugs will be on and all them spare tires I have now...

Now you got me all fired up to go play in the snow with the quad the snow going down quick and the water coming up quick...

Hi Rick, glad you got a laugh out of that. After I wrote that I went out for that little drive on my bike. Boy the water is sure starting to run in spots. The snow is sure holding it back too. Our dugout filled up today and is running over towards the road now. The culvert and ditch are pluged with snow yet so it could get interesting yet. Going to try and open up a couple of runs tomorow with the skidder. Was going to start draging the yard but now they're talking of rain and snow for tomorow night and the next day. I sure hope that it doesn't but if it does we'll just have to put up with it I guess.

Sure wish he'd stay home so we didn't have to tie him up all the time. I hate to spend a couple hundred bucks on him and still have him run around too.

You'll have no short of spares that's for sure.

Yes I did I could just see it heehee...sorry it`s doing much the same thing today here water starting to move the river is toast the ice is falling in...what did you hear about the weather this summer....went by Troy`s today to see if he got away no way he has problems with all the work he did on his Phazer FX he keeps getting these codes do he was talking to a tech at Yamaha when I was there....I hope he gets it fix and get`s on the road because boy has he spent a pile of money on this sled...

I hear you about the puppy dog...I love dog`s but when we do get another dog she will be a she...they don`t seem to run away as much....Duchess she stayed at home...

No kidding Ryan 8 spares I guess I should get a few rims...the other thing we did was 10 inch on the front 12 inch on the back 26 inch should be nice...I don`t think I will pick it up till 5 th or 7 th of April ....supose to be going away next week but who knows...

Wow there is going to be so much work here this year again and the wages went up again around 26 to 27 a hour for a hoe hand not to bad for this province eh ....that`s on the floodway and the dam will be going up in June I think...wow ...we will never be like Alberta though...there is more money in oil then water....

Water is sure starting to back up in spots now. I was really hoping for another couple of good warm days but we aren't going to get them I don't think. It was snowing here for a bit today. Rained a little too. Sure got cold this afternoon.

Sounds like a headache dealing with those codes. You got yours all fixed up with no problems I hope. I saw the picture of the fan. Sure looks differnent in a way, I'm not used to seeing a radiator on a snowmobile. I'm surprised that it heated up on you.

I'll be waiting patiently for a picture Rick. :D Hope you get up to thompson to go riding. I'm done around here now. Snow is pretty much gone. If it cools off enough though I might load the sled up in the truck and go up to the bush and ride a bit. I figure there should be enough snow left in the bush yet to go riding.

Good to hear that things are picking up out your way. They talk about a economic boom in Sk. but I've yet to see it. Only place that's really doing something is Saskatoon.

Ryan

Rick K
03-29-2007, 07:42 AM
Yes the water here is starting to back up too the culverts have some snow in front of them and in them too...I think we will be getting some of that weather today by the sounds of it.

Codes yes they could be a big problem for people if you don’t know what they mean that’s for sure they were sending Troy what they meant ....copy would be nice...I have not talked to the boys to see if he got away hope so....yes the rad does look different but they did not think too much in that part....if they had some mess on the backside the air could roll right though but no it’s closed right up causing it to keep more heat in. Yes it heated twice once when Claudette and I were in Falcon Lake and the last time we were out.

Sorry but you will be waiting for a week or two it’s still in the box and I in no big rush to start the warranty right now I think in a few weeks it will be nicer out to ride. Thompson is on for Monday but no sleds it is melting water running but who knows I doubt it though.....it’s enough for the season ....well I hope you get some riding in...

It’s been going good for a year now each year it gets better we can find people to work here .....but I do see another problem here the gas stations, burger joints, Tim Horton’s have signs up help wanted they can’t get enough people....but they will have to start paying more money than minimum wage to fill those positions...just like they did in Alberta ...yes I have been watching that form here it’s great the west is booming all at once yippee right on.

What about the wheat board the framers have spoken wow what do you think of that...they say the farmers should be going poppies for morphine it could bring 3,000 to 6,000 per hector I think it said...

Hi Rick, we had a little set back here with the water going out. That being a foot of snow. Boy what a mess did that make. That snow is just like water. Dad was pushing it with the skid steer and it would move 10 feet infront of you. Then the poor little skid steer would just spin out in the mud. Dad's out right now on the frost trying to do a little bit more just so it's not such a big mess when it melts.

That's one of the biggest things I don't like about the newer sleds. Everything is packed right in there. The ol Yamaha I can open the hood up and work on it a little bit anyways. It's bad enough though too. My ol skiroule I can put my hand right underneath the engine.

That's okay Rick, I don't blame you for waiting for the waranty to cut in. No sense having it sit there and not be able to ride it. I'm going out after I get done typing this to put the Yamaha in. Might try and take it out for a little rip in the fields on last time. I don't konw how hard the snow froze though so I'll have to see.

They're having a awful hard time to get employess here too. Lots of resturants and places like that with help wanted signs up. Same thing though they've been paying minimum wage and hate to pay anything more.

I'm glad that the farmers picked to end the monopoly on Barley. I don't see it doing much more for us because not to many people sold barley threw the wheat board other then Malt barley which could take off a bit more now. At least it's one step closer to having the freedom to make our own decision on where to sell it. Next fall they're saying they're going to have a vote on wheat too. That will be the one that might make a difference to farmers.

Got to go while there's still ice on the ground.

Well, there was a plus side to all that snow that we got. I've been able to go sleeding one more time this year. Put on a few miles today. Dad even got out for a little rip. If there's still some around I might try to take it up to the bush this weekend. Have a hot dog roast put on a few more miles maybe.

To bad that you can't go sleding at Thompson Rick, I know you wanted to get a few more miles in.

Wow they have been talking about the storm for a few days we got rain that was it no snow...sounds just like pushing muck with a dozer Ryan...I here you I don’t like it when it gets like this either...I have been pumping water out of the low areas in the yard...

Yes I here you on the new sleds it’s sucks not like the old ones that is for sure...

Well I guess they should start paying some money eh in Alberta a extra large is 1.64 same as here well they pay about 15.00 a hour there and the pay 8.25 here and they stay open so they are making money so they should pay the same here too. Then they might get people to work...well I better stop now....

Well I’m glad for you ....you guys finally can do what you want I hope it all works out for everyone.

Lucky you I can only dream about sledding on a 40th Apex anniversary.....I wish...

Yes I picked it up today nutty day took my truck to get some work done on it then walked over to see the quad then left picked up truck....was talking to Claudette she said to bad we did not have the other Quad I said why duh we could go riding ha ha ....so I called Mike told him I would be back today to pick up the Phazer and the quad...

So I went gave dad a hand then left there went back to pick up the quad well here where it get’s interesting well everything go well then I leave go to put insurance on the Quad well the lady punches in the serial number she says ok it’s a Kodiak 400 I say no it’s a Kodiak 350 she says no the serial number says it’s a 400....well it is after I looked into it....

Snowing again here this morning. Hasn't amounted to much yet but who knows if this keeps up we'll be back to where we were 3 weeks ago. :(

I hear ya Rick, people are cheap and gready bstards ehh. :D I'm just joking though, some cases some people can't afford to pay more then that other times people are just being gready. Local buisneses around here are just starting to catch on now though and starting to pay better. They finally realised if they payed their good guys some more money they might be able to keep them around longer. In the end those are the guys that you want around anyways because there the ones that will make you money. Some of the other people out there you just have to shake your head at and wonder what's going on upstairs.

There's a few of the older neibours around here that are pretty upset with it. They're the die hard NDP and Coop guys though that don't know any different. Dad was talking with the one guy and he said yup it's the end of farming now.

Wow, looks pretty nice Rick. I thought maybe you were going to put new rims on it too. It would sure look good with them on there. So you ended up with a 400 for the price of a 350? That's a pretty sweet deal. Was there a mix up at the factory or what happend? Those two sure look good siting together on the trailer.

I made the mistake of going into the bombardier dealer yesterday. Now there's a dirt bike there that I want to buy. Couldn't even get to sleep last night because of all the numbers that I was crunching trying to figure out how I could swing it. I might go back this week and make him a offer on it if it's still available.

Yes we got the same thing last night early this morning wet snow Ryan...

You said it I have thought it for years Ryan Cheap B...wages go up May 1st on the floodway good hoe had can make around 27.00 not bad not like the pipeline though...and on the dam I’m hearing June 1st she will be going up have not seen any figures yet...same here most contractors now if he is good you better pay him more or you will loss him to someone else...who will pay more.

Well I sure don’t know much about the wheat board and all the stuff but I think it will be very interesting to see what happens Ryan.

Heck Ryan we don’t ride down the Highway here most of the time the tires are under water or mud...ha ha what were you thinking. ..ya go figure they made a mistake to funny :lmao: ....we got home from a long ride yesterday and there was a massage on the answering machine Rick we gave you the wrong bike don’t ride it....to late boys she is good and muddy....I put insurance on it to already ....there is only 500.00 difference between the two at list so when Troy gets back from B.C. I guess I will tell him we will spilt it 250 he pays 250 me..because I put insurance on it that will cost me money ...plus I want to be fare with poor Troy...hey it was a mistake on his part I have a bill of sale saying I paid in full for it ...serial number on the bill of sale .....etc....but I’m not a thief so we will talk and work it out I will be keeping the 400 Claudette loves it...she had a smile form ear to ear......thanks Ryan they do look good together...

No that’s not a mistake buy buy have some fun you will love it ....

Yes I watched it to Ryan yes I know allot of people did not believe me but I do know what I seen....it was .... w00t

:lmao: You got me laughing now Rick. Yea I know your in the mud most of the time. Sure wood look good though when it's out. :D

How in the world could them make a mistake like that. Doesn't it say right on the side 400? Too funny though, you should have taken it back to them like that and said here ya go. No I never rode it honestly. :D I'm sure you and troy can work it out. 250 isn't that awful much. Now if it was 2500 then I'd be a little concerned. Good to hear that she's enjoying herself on there.
Next thing you know though she's going to want one that goes faster. :D

Mom's a little scared of it because it's a similar bike to what my brother broke his back on dad says I don't need it I say I want something new so we'll see I guess. Might put a phone call into the banker in the morning to see what kind of a deal I can swing. Haven't got the money right now to pay for it so I'd have to borrow about 2/3 of the value. No big deal but I hate paying extra intrest.

Makes ya wonder ehh. Enough people say they saw something so there must be something out there. I've never had any encounters around here in all my years in the bush but who knows. I belive there were some sitings up on the hansen lake road though.

Boy have we got a big mess now in the yard. It's been snowing and raining off and on all day. The yard is just one big mud bog now.

Good we need to laugh it’s good for us....

No it does not say 400 on the side ....that’s not the first mistake they made when we bought the Phazer there was a problem to .....but it worked out..no I will phone tomorrow morning and say I’m leaving for the north and will be back in a day or two...and by the way Mike we rode Friday night all day Saturday we only put 350 k’s on I guess it’s a demo now....

4 wheeler I thought you were looking at the big B ....I hear you.... mom gave me poop what are you paying interest on the RX1 so I paid it off....she was happy I was not throwing my money away...so I just buy it out now she still would kick my bum....
I never did own a dirt bike a number of my friends did though boy could they ride they raced them one guy was unreal he was so good he had sponsors....I used to shake my head at Bobby K...I think you should buy a quad but I guess the it would be more money...that way your mom and dad could use it too..they should start 0% financing just like on the trucks & cars eh...

Makes you think though what makes one think is how come know one has shoot one yet...

Yes it has been raining off and on here though out the day...

I'm sureprised that it doesn't have the size right on it. I think all of the manufactuers that I've seen have the size on the side. Never payed a whole lot of attention to it though.

Yes, it is the dirt bike that I'm looking at buying. I agree 100% with you Rick, I should buy a quad first but they've got a real good deal on this bike. It's about half the price of the quads that I'm looking at. If it wasn't for the good deal I wouldn't even consider it right now. I'm trying to budget my money out too, I'm still hoping to pick up a processor at the auction that's coming up. If it goes up to high though I'll just hang onto my money. I need to keep enough though incase it goes cheap enough so that I can make the down payment.

That's a good point Rick, I'd never really thought much about that. It does make you wonder though. Who really knows what's out there in the deeps of the bush though. Could be all sorts of critters that we just haven't found yet.

Did you watch the Junos at all?

Come to think of it Ryan I don’t my Grizzly has the size on the side of it either....I could be wrong I will have to look to make sure...

I’m just teasing you Ryan.....sounds like a good deal is it’s last year’s model..I hear you Ryan I try to keep so much in the bank well I have to quit buying toys for a bite and rebuild the bank account till I need the Apex 40th Anniversary...not well maybe ...ha ha..your lucky you can write it off.....Claudette has a half sister from many years ago she lives up in Thompson I see here and her husband who owns a electrically company up there....Joy is a treaty you see what I’m saying...

No I did not see the junos Ryan...

Well I’m heading out to Thompson today going to Wuskwatim to see are member and deal with a few issues...I will get some pictures of the site for you to see what’s going on up in the great white north...they say lot’s of snow still up in the north but to haul the sleds all that way forget it I would want to put 1,000 k’s on...this way we will only be a few days I hope then I can put this Quad issue to bed and ride this long weekend coming up...

You take care I hope your bike works out for you Ryan I talk to you when I get back

wow I think I will be kicking myself for not taking the sleds look at the temp up in Thompson -29 tonight...

Well, went in yesterday to deal on that dirt bike. Turns out it had sold the day before though. That was okay though I was a little disapointed but I got over it pretty quick. We got to talking about bikes and the next thing you know I'm on their demo 650. Dad was talking about trading off the sea doo on one so I thought I'd try it out just to see what it was like. I was sure impressed with it. Next thing you know I'm dealing on it. I made him a couple of offers on it but so far I haven't come home with it. Know that I've had a day to think it over again I'm starting to second guess myself as to whether I should spend that much money on it. So know I don't know what to do. I'd sure like to go and buy it but it's still 10,000 + tax. They've got a new 500 that I can have for almost the same money but it's a little less hp. so I'm kind of up in the air there too as to what to do. Starting to think I should just keep my money. :(

I'll be looking forward to the pics Rick. I'll bet it's pretty cold up there now.

I had the Yamaha out this morning just to get the engine heated up good and everything dried out after all the wet snow that I had been in. I drove across the road onto some summer fallow and right away the sliders started to heat up. I could actually feel them slowingh the sled down. I drove over to a big snow drift but I couldn't get any loose snow there either. So I made a beeline for the middle of a slew thinking I could break threw the ice and cool everything off, nope just skimed across the ice so I went straight back to the shop and parked it. Wouldn't have wanted to have to drive verry far like that boy. Even the engine was starting to heat up, the rear heat exchanger was hot to the touch.

That just sucks Ryan sorry to hear that ...

On the demo how many K’s Ryan does the warranty start from when you take it...if it does that’s good if it has low k’s that’s good too. You can use it from now till the snow fly’s again it’s a great investment for the farm Ryan checking on the crops think of the things you can do with it around the farm. .. ... yes on more thing I forgot to say you can play with it too...

Wow sounds like the season is over for you too...

Well what a trip it was great man they have snow I wish I had took my sled...team Yamaha was in town they sat at the table next to ours on night at dinner...had a great talk with them ....Arctic Cat was in the area too....yamaha was going to be in the area for 3 weeks they told me... they invited us out to the pick area....real great guys...so where the cat boys..

I wasn't to disapointed over the bike, I can live without it. Still don't know what to do for sure with the quad though. Haven't decided if I should spend all that money yet or not. Might phone them tomorow morning to see what they can do for me. Yes there's lots of places that I can use it but in the end it still isn't going to make me any money. That's the bad part.

It's pretty much done here now. If it warms up enough to loosen the snow up some I might try to make one last ride but I think it's probably done for the season now. We could end up with more snow though so who knows. I haven't winterized the Yamaha yet so anything is posible.

Should've just asked to borrow one of thiers. :D I don't imagine that would've gone over to well though. Sounds like you had a pretty good trip otherwise.

Went down to my sisters today for easter supper. The whole family was there so we managed to get together for a little while. I had my first horse ride today. Needless to say I don't think I'll be running out and buying one anytime soon. :D I didn't get bucked off though. :lmao: My sister was bugging me a little bit to hop on so I did. She just led me around the yard though so I wasn't in to much danger.

Buy it and ride it one more thing have fun with it too Ryan....

Well it was 10 years ago yesterday we had the biggest storm 50 cm we had a car in the driveway all you could see was the roof...then we had the huge flood after that...and I worked & worked all spring summer & fall it was a great year to make lots of money.

The Yamaha guys did invite us out the one guy said he would let me try some out...just did not have enough time plus I really did not want to show them how to ride. The one guy gave me his number he has 2 Apex for sale 07 cheap...these guys are really nice guys they don’t have their heads up their butts like someone who is good....they are down to earth....so I’m thinking about it real hard...we did have the talk about why they are so much cheaper in the states then Canada no one can answer it .....but someone said and I will not say who do not hesitate to go buy state side the engines are bullet proof...
[attachment=35391:DSCF0248.JPG]
Yes horses Claudette had a few over the years not no more....she likes the other horses now...I to had a ride or two but they are not for me....and now I will say it the only horse I want between my legs is horse power by gas...

Well I’m off to see Troy today maybe we talked on last Monday to funny I said I would see him when I got back.. :lmao:

I forgot to say before, the 650 can am is curently running on that two year waranty. It was originally 3 but it's a year old now. If they can get me the 3 year waranty on the 500 I think I might just go and get one this week. I've been doing allot of thinking about it and yes it's allot of money to spend but I plan on keeping it around for a few years too. So in the end maybe it wont be so bad. At least that's what I'm telling myself for the time being. :lmao:

Anything's posible Rick. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see another storm roll threw. They always used to say spring will be here 3 snows after the crows get back. We've had two now so there could be one more on the way.

Wow, sounds like you missed out on a pretty sweet opertunity. To bad you didn't have enough time to go and check it out. Sure would've been nice to be able to ride the new ones and see what they're like before you buy one. I've thought about trying to buy a quad in the states but I haven't had the time to do the looking to find what I want. It's not that big of a deal to get them back across but it's the time envolved to find them.

I'm the same way, at least when I tell my dirt bike to stop it listens. :D

Thanks snow4, I'm trying to make sure I get what I want the first time around. I always try and do as much research on whatever it is that I'm buying. Even a cd player or something like that. I don't like having to buy something else because of some little thing that I don't like or having to settle for something that isn't quit what I want. I'm being more careful with this quad though because it's allot of money to spend. I was hoping to go to p.a. today and deal on a 500 but I'm not to sure if we're going in or not. See my problem is I like them all. :D I always said though I'll have a new quad before I have another new sled. For me I can get more use out of the quad plus I can use it year round. I'll confess though, I was looking at new sleds this winter. :D

Good to hear that you got out for a ride Rick.

That's what I've been thinking too Rick. That way I know it was broke in properly and not just broken. I'm not to sure if I can still get the 3 year waranty or not. The program actually ended at the end of march. I'm going to try and push a bit to see if they can back date it though. They said last week they could yet but I don't know about now for sure.

Didn't get to p.a. at all today. Hoping maybe tomorow. Probably wouldn't be able to take one home tomorow anyways because they don't have any set up right now.

I went to see Troy today I picked up a few helmets Fly...we started on the Apex but I have a few other deal on the go not with Troy ....Apex state side in the box 07 cheap under 8....I should be able to get 55 or 6 for the RX1 here...then picks etc so you’re looking 35 to 4 when the smoke clears...but I have to put 2 or 3 together just not one....

I was out on my dirt bike yesterday and put on about 12 miles or so. I had my face and head covered but my feet were getting cold in my rubber boots. I was just out checking out the water to see how high it had gotten. I can drive almost anywhere now on my dirt bike. Had to ride it pretty hard to get threw some spots though. The worst was coming up a hill with about a 20% grade with around a foot of snow on it. Had to do some pushing to get up that one. :D It's about a 100 feet long

I want to go in a try to deal with him in person to get some of these extras that I want. Going to try and sell him the stock tires off the bike as well in hopes of getting a little bit out of them. I'd like to put on a set of mud lite xtr tires. They're pretty good in mud and snow but you can still ride them on hard pack without and real vibrations or strange feel threw the quad. I'm looking at going with a 26" tire there's 25" on there now.

I think there's some money to be made in bringing that stuff up here and selling it Rick. If you could bring back 3 or 4 at a time you could almost pay for you one sled that you want. The biggest thing is to get a conection down in the states to some of these cheaper machines. I found the exact same quad that I'm looking at down in the states for almost 3,000 dollars cheaper. Only problem is it's 2,000 or more miles away.

Great to here the bike is going good Ryan....now if you had your new quad think of the fun you would have in the snow...

I here you I like to do the same thing but sometimes it does not work out for me like that...sounds good the tires are you getting rims too..you just get them muddy so you won’t see them...ha ha..

No kidding some coin to be made but I’m not into buying 3 of them I should here about one tomorrow afternoon....07 in box... I will sell the RX1 upgrade to Apex...started working outside tonight cleaning up the garage first then out to the yard...the ground is still frozen...need to get a lawn sweeper put behind the quad...

Rick

poor farmer/logger
04-10-2007, 11:51 PM
Yes, I know. Sure wouldn't have any problems getting around then. That's for sure.

No I'm not going to buy rims at all. There's some pretty nice ones on the bike from factory so I'll just stick with them. The dealer has a verry slightly used set of ITP 589 tires that he's willing to trade me for the stock ones. 300 bucks to boot on them. It's enough money but I figure I'll put them on just in case I get to some mud. 95% on my riding will be trail riding so it's not to likely that I'll ever even have it in the mud but you never know.

Sounds like you're starting to get pretty serious about buying a new sled now. Hope you can get a new one to play with for next winter. We've still got great big snow banks on our lawn so It'll be a while before I get to thinking about any lawn care. We just mised a snow storm today thankfully. Some places in the south were suposed to get up to 6" of wet snow. Sure glad that we didn't get any of that up here. I bladed and draged the yard the other day so now we can actually move around without getting covered in mud. The sawmill road was pretty good untill the snow started melting again. Now there's a spot at the bottom where the water is running down to. I went down tonight with the skid steer and ditched it off the road a little bit. I was blocked off by the ruts that we had made before.

The tires are well worth it Ryan I ran for sometime on the factory ones I had….what a difference when I put the mud bugs on where I got stuck in four wheel I drove though in 2 wheel with the bugs on…

No I’m just thinking out loud who knows I have a message on the answering machine I walked away I did not want to hear the prices tonight…..because then I would be thinking all night…that snow I hope we don’t get it we are drying up real nice around here…

Hi Rick, I sent you a email. I'll throw a copy of it on here though just incase you check this first.

Hi Rick, I'm sending you a email in hopes that you get it before I make a decision on tires. I was just wondering if you noticed any loss of performance when you went with your mud bog tire. Any harder to steer or did it hurt your excelleration at all? The tires I'm looking at are ITP 589 mud and snow. They are a pretty agressive tire and are suposed to be pretty tough. Only problem is they are a heavy little tire. I'm a little concerned about it being harder to steer and losing some of my low end power.

If you could get back to me I'd appreciate it.

I'm going into the banker tomorow afternoon and hopefully we'll have something worked out. Maybe by sunday I can be driving a new quad.

The only reason I'm in a bit of a hurry to make a decision on tires is I was going to get ahold of the dealer from the bank to tell him whether or not to write of a bill or not. I might try a phone the dealer and talk to the guy that I was dealing with about the tires. I don't know if I can get a straight answer out of them or not though.

We drove up to our one quarter of land with all the bush on it tonight and there's still 2 or 3 feet of snow left in the one field. It's a field that's about 80. ac. big that's surounded by bush on all 4 sides. The snow never gets a chance to drif in there much so it just piles up.

Same here Rick, the yard is getting good now. We had some snow today but thankfully it all melted as it came down. It was just enough to settle the dust again. They've been out grading the roads a little bit and the dust was sure starting to get bad on the gravel roads.

I should now by tomorow night Rick, I'll let you know.

Wow that’s a pile of snow Ryan unreal…I was pricing out pull behind sweepers they are some real junky ones out there I find out the best one people have said is the huskyv??

Yes I’m going to get dust off again this year so we can sit out in the yard well it’s not that bad but I sure do like it…

Well I’m waiting for the pictures Ryan huh you will have a blast….we will have to try to get together this summer for a ride if you get time with the farming & sawmill…

Banker said I could go ahead and buy it but sujested stongly that I don't buy the processor at all then. I was seriously considering buying one that's the trouble. Did some more thinking about it tonight and I think I'll stick with the quad instead. I'm not sure if the processor will pay for itself or not. He told me though to go threw the dealer for financing because they could get me a better intrest rate. So I guess now I've got to go into the dealer and fill out all the forms because I don't think that they can do it over the phone. I don't think it will be tomorow because we're going to try and haul grain again. Tryed this morning but I got the semi stuck in a mud hole. It slid in on me when I was backing up. It's all one big mud hole down there right now that's the problem. It didn't help that we got another inch or so of snow this morning either. That made everything slipery. I have to haul out one load and so does dad. Hopefully it all goes better tomorow. THere's a whole bunch of snow infront of my bin yet though so I'm not sure that I can even get to it.

That would be great if you guys came out for a ride. Not to sure where the best place to go would be though. I know you guys have pretty busy schedules too though so that would make it hard for you guys to get away not to mention the distance involved. Even if we met somewhere inbetween it's still a long drive. It's to bad that we didn't live closer to each other.

I decided for now to just leave the tires too. Got some advice off that other forum and they said that was to much for those tires. I'll just run with the stock tires for now and maybe after a little bit put on some better ones. It's not like I'll be in mud all the time anyways so I think it will be allright.

Ryan

Rick K

That sucks getting the truck stuck it’s no fun if you have a full load on too.

Ryan that’s good news for you but I would let the dealer now what you plan on doing they should be able to do a lot of work before you get there. When I bought the RX1 I had not had a loan in years so I decide to do one so I called the bank. They faxed me the paper work out with X’s where to sign so I did then faxed back the money was put in the account to buy it. I had enough in the account to buy it but I did it that way for my credit rating…then they where screwing me on the interest so I paid it off it was getting up to 8 ¼ back then….

Then when I bought the Grizzly I bought the grizzly I had stock tires on it so I went back bought Mud Bugs 26” 12x12 all around I got to keep the factory ones and I paid 400 for the bugs mounted…

Yes it would be great to get together for a weekend of Quading but we will have to see what happens this summer…

It wasn't to bad, it came out pretty easy once we hooked to skidder to it. We did manage to get one load out this morning. Dad had to pull me back wards while I backed up the semi though. We just went real easy. It didn't take much of a pull but just that little extra to keep it moving. I was having trouble steering though. The front of the truck didn't want to go where I was trying to point it. Managed to get backed in on the first try though. :D Then once we got it full dad just hooked onto the front tow hook and pulled me the other way. There too it was just that little extra to keep it moving. The cable never even got real tight except for a couple of times. I don't know if I'll be able to get to my bin though. It's getting real muddy there now. I might have to wait for a while and hope that the elevator still has room for my canola.

If I had a fax machine I could have it all set up before I even got there unfortunatly we haven't bothered getting one at all. Not to often that we need one at all. That's what they say they can get me for intrest rate. That's locked in for 5 years. I sure don't plan on taking it over the full term but the banker sujested I do that in case I come onto bad years again. I think I might go to Nipawin tomorow and look at a couple of bikes. I'm not sure yet but I'm going to try and make my way up there. We've got a guy coming for lumber in the morning so we have to stick around till he's gone anyways. I talked with the dealer up there tonight on the phone and they also have a demo 650 that I'm going to take a look at. It's only got a couple hundred clicks on it. If it's in perfect shape I might just pick it up. Still the better part of 3 years waranty on it and it's the same price as the 500. If it's not up to what I think it should be though I might bring home a 500 instead. All depends.

The guys on that other forum said even up deal or no deal at all on those tires. Everyone that I've talked to say that the stock tires on this quad are actually quite good in most conditions. The dealer I was talking to said he had that 650 beside one of his friends 800 with mudzillas on it and there wasn't that big of a difference. He said he could go further then him in the mud but once he spun he was pretty much instantly hung up.(the 800)

Yes, we'll have to see what summer brings I guess.

Ryan

Think if you did not have the skidder can you say farm tractor. One down one to go how many more after those two. Just sliding not traction on the steering tires.

I guess I never thought about that I had a fax from my coaching days in Hockey then in construction being a supervisor for Glen but I don’t use it now as a matter of fact it’s in the closet now...that’s smart over 5 years just in case something goes wrong it’s better to give yourself some breathing room for the unforeseen things..

One good thing you guys are in a since diversified with the sawmill and the farm...all your eggs are not in one basket..

Wow I guess these people don’t ride in the same mud I do Ryan because like I said with the stock tires on the Grizzly I would get stuck in 4 wheel drive sometimes diff lock on too. Well I put the bugs on boy where I got stuck with the factory tires on I rolled through the mud in 2 wheel drive it was like night and day in my eyes and that’s just my opinion each to their own.

Well, all the paper work is done now. I didn't bring it home with me today though. It was to late to submit the credit ap. so he's going to do it first thing monday morning and let me know what it comes back with. He's going to do a full service to the bike and get it shined right up. He also has to replace the front bumper as it got dented when they had thier snow blower on it. Other then that it looked like new. Everything worked like it should so I went ahead with the 650 demo that they had. Only 241 kms on it. 27 hrs on it. So that works out to not verry hard riding. I think they put a few hours on in snow plowing and that's why the hours are up there a little. He's going to meet me on Monday or Tuesday east of home a little ways and I'll pick it up then.

John Deere or the 4wd tractor would've pulled it out pretty easy. The skidder is nice though, it's got some real low gears on it so you can pull real slow. Things don't tear up so easy then.

Yes, it helps. The sawmill keeps the fuel bill payed up if nothing else. :D That's sure going to be a big one this spring though. Gas is 1.079 now. Diesel is right up there too.

The stock tires on these bikes are quit a bit more agresive then the dunlop that came with your Grizzly though. These are a 3/4" lug and your stock tires were pretty much just a light trail tire.(if I remember corectly.) I'll see later on if I'm not happy with these then maybe I'll look into something else. For now though I'm trying to keep the cost as low as posible.

Right on Ryan Congratulation on your new Quad...works out to 8.9 miles per hour ...can’t wait to see a picture of your new toy...

Yes I hear you on the low gears nice and easy ...

Wow your gas is cheaper out your way then our way $ 1.05.9 .....the thieves should be well you now. It’s summer time people travel holidays but the farmers will pay they put their crops and take them off in the fall when the bums lower the prices again....how can it up 20 cents ...

Good point they have made them stock tires better by the sounds of it Ryan it’s about time..that sounds like enough lug ...I hear you on the coast ....

Well Claudette and myself got out for a good ride yesterday Claudette looks like a racoon she had sun glasses on wind burn...yes we did find some water too..We made it out to the snowmobile shack it across the floating bog and I mean floating bog...the frost is still in the ground where the sled had run ....yes the water is out there we did not have to look to far...it sure is cheaper to fuel up 2 quads then 2 sleds...few pictures

Thanks Rick, hopefully it will work out okay for me.

We're 2 cents higher then you guys actually. Right before Easter there was a big jump. I guess they figured spring was here and people should pay more. :cussing:

Claudette looks right at home on there Rick. Was she leary of going in the water at all? That wind can be pretty nasty stuff. Looks like you wouldn't even make it in there once the frost goes out. If you did you'd have to get threw some awful nasty stuff to get there. I hear ya on the fuel, thoes sleds sure suck it up boy. That's one thing that I really like about my little dirt bike. It gets anywhere from 40-50 mpg. This quad that I'm looking at they say that it will get in the 20-35mpg. range depending on terain.

Great pictures Rick. I'll make sure to get you one as soon as I get the 650 home.

Yes them jerks have to do that which is not right in my eyes....yes just before Easter to nail everyone going home for Easter... and know summer holidays too properly

She like a old pro Ryan she was smiling like a rat eating Shell fish...all but one of them pictures were taken miles away them miles away from the floating bog....they were taken on the gravel ridge .....

These two pictures you won’t see many with quads beside the club house...the last people there where Bill & Steve the two guys I sled with from Woodlands on March 21/07

Well, looks like I'll have that 650 home tomorow night. The loan went threw with no problems. Pretty high intrest but what cha gona do. It's cheaper then my ag loans though, go figure that one out.

Good to hear that she's having lots of fun out there. Don't think I'll be puting my quad threw that though. I don't like to run in water any more then I have to.

Went out to look at some cats and scrapers that are coming up for auction today. Eneded up getting stuck in thier yard. Most of the equipment was in a old pasture and all that cow crap mixed with wet grass and a little bit of mud made for one awfull slippery mess. The nephew got stuck too but he managed to get out. Just barley though. Me and him gave dad a push and the ol dodge managed to pull threw. He was throwing mud though.

Had one road for sure go out this spring now, it went out last night around supper time. I think it was because of a old wooden box culvert that was in the road yet. It washed threw under the road and then the top layer colapesed. There's another road a mile east of this one and I think the water will be running over it pretty good too. Going to go look tonight. Might take my camera with and get a couple of pics. We went for a drive last night and there's quit a few spots this spring where the water is running over the road pretty good. Lots of spots left too where the water is getting up pretty high. I can't even imagine what it would've been like if the hot weather would've caried threw 3 weeks ago when we had all that snow yet. Boy that sure would've made a mess.

Great news Ryan glad to hear you have a new toy to check the crops with.....yes I don’t like the interest period.

I make sure they see lots of grease and they get check over real good which I’m doing this evening...that was the only way though...

What bread of cat’s high drive or conventional ....scrapers cable or hyd ....yes it’s a good thing it went slow we had problems on the river ice jams...etc..

Well you better post that picture of your new toy you have at home I think some people would like to see it I have seen it on the other web page...very nice factory tires Ryan that’as how they should come...nice looking unit too but put some mud on it get out and play in the farmers field ha ha.....

Hi Rick, I put up a post on the general chit chat side last night when I got home. Figured I'd put it up there for everyone who was interested to see. I was surpriesed, I was crawling around under the quad this morning and they put grease zerks in the u joints on the back drive shaft. Was sure happy to see that. Not to sure where else they've got them. I've had it out today some, did get it a little dirty allready. I went back on one road that goes along our land just to see how the creek is running. Had it out in the fields tonight as well. Put on about 30 kms so far. It does pretty good in the snow too, I had it out in the fence lines tonight trying to stay out of the mud. It's got allot of ground clearance so it goes along pretty good. The tires seem to do pretty good, I haven't had it out in any real mud but they pull along pretty good so far. When ya get on the throttle though it sure puts a smile on yer face. 40 mph hit the throttle and the back tires are spinning like crazzy on the gravel roads. 5800 rpm and your doing 40 mph. I like that cause you don't have to rev the heck out of it to go fast.

They've got some old D 8 H Cats as well as a old 7E. Srapers are 631 Cat TS-24 and a bunch of TS-14s. They've got a bunch of each, can't remember how many off hand but they used to be in it pretty big.

Looks great Ryan.... glad to hear you like it sounds good about the zerks that’s nice mine just has it on the bushing that’s it..next you will be saying I went back to see how the creek was running so I went down it for a few miles ha ha.. I was impressed with the stock tires you have on your quad...the only thing I found with snow was everything goes good until you break the crust then you have fun...that rpm sounds great too Ryan It’s just to bad we have to live so far apart because boy we could do some riding together...

Them old cat’s can’s sound ok eh....sounds like Broadski (spell)?he was big back in the 70’s and 80’s....good old sask boy they worked up on the Jan lake road too..Nate was his first name but I could be wrong too...

Off to J.D today open house lawnmower blades on for ½ price with other thing ....started working on the park that’s why I have not been posting lot’s of work to do on the park plus the yard....going to dad’s today after he would like someone to clean up the back part of the basement which Claudette & myself have already been doing....back my truck up to the door and then to the dump...Dad gave us the swing mom & myself use to sit in all the time at the condo.

We hope to get out for another ride this weekend ....Steve and Bill want to see if we can make it up to the snow shack next weekend that should be good stuck winch stuck winch...

Get out and ride Ryan I hope you have a blast with your new toy take some picture of the country side that would be nice to see down by the river...

Hi Rick, had a big long reply all typed out this morning for ya. I hit reply and that was it. Came back page unavailable offline. For some reason our internet conection has been cutting in and out. It shows that we're conected but try to go to a page and it wont let you.

I'll try again here.

That creek is any where from 8-10 feet deep so don't think I'll be going for a swim. :D Yea it's to bad that we weren't closer. Then we could put on all kinds on miles summer and winter.

They've seen some hard use over the years. They said that they're in good mechanical shape but who knows, they've been siting lots so lots of seals have dried up and there's lots of oil leaks. We'll go to the sale just to see what stuff goes for. I don't think we'll bring anything home though. These guys were just like the other guy that you were talking about. They were big back in the 70tys when things were going good. Made a fair bit of money back then and the equipment has been pretty much idle now for the last few years.

Good to hear that you're getting the park finished up Rick. Gona need some pictures when ya get it all done.

Sounds like it's going to be a awful trip if you try to go. No fun getting stuck that's for sure. I might try to get up to the river tomorow, we'll have to see. We went to a auction today and picked up a few goodies. Dad bought a cordless grease gun and some other small things. I picked up a bunch of old batteries that were there. They had 13 bigger ones and two little quad ones. No one wanted them so I threw in a bid of one dollar and he said sold. I checked them out tonight when we got home and there's 3 batteries that have potential to be charged back up and used again. Even if they aren't any good I can haul them in and sell them to the battery shop. They pay one or two dollars a piece for them so either way I wont loose any money on it.

I'll try and get some pictutres for you Rick. I don't have to be so scared of breaking my camera now that I'm on my quad.

Spring time Ryan water does funny things with telephone lines etc we get it to sometimes..

White water rafting tours up at your place in the spring time any fish Ryan..

So are you guys still looking at some or just looking for a D-7 for the sawmill....

Yes I will show you the pictures it will take some time though to get it done.

I will take Claudette to make sure she can winch me out I will take a block too....plus a camera for a picture or two ......just to see you laugh at us...

Yes you can make some money on them batteries Ryan. I put mine in a bag Ryan to keep it dry I’ve been thinking of using my old one that way it will not hurt as much if it gets wet...

We picked up blades for the L-130 Deere 1/2 price spark plugs air filters oils filters etc...

Wow grease gun I bought 2 of them a few years back I used them for greasing the 892 back in my operating days well I went to grease up the quads and charged the battery up on the guns well the chargers went no way they don’t work...68.00 for a new charger Lincoln from Deere....

There's some, nothing to great. Mostly just Jack and a little bit of walleye. There's some good walleye in the Sk. river near nipawin. I've never done much fishing but know some people that do and they've had pretty good luck. Not sure if it was the world record walleye or not but a reverand from the states caught a huge one near the dam at nipawin. Seems to me it's in the record books. Kinda curioius as to where the white water rafting is? Is that near lacolle falls? There's some pretty good rapids there but I had never heard about any tours threw there.

We'd really like to have a old cat but I don't know if we can justify it or not. I don't want something that we have to fix either that's the biggest problem. We ran into a guy from Dauphin at Hodgins auctions who's got a old D7 F for sale out there. Said it's in real good shape. They've got a construction buisness out there and they were using it for pulling a cable scrapper.

Sounds like a good plan. Hope you guys don't have to much trouble out in the mud. Kinda takes the fun out of it. Mine was all muddy today so I hooked up the pressure washer and gave it a quick bath. It's not perfect yet but there's no point in getting it perfectly clean just yet. There's still mud everywhere. Me and dad went out for a little ride in the field at home this morning and did some checking around. That's when it got real dirty. I spun out in 2wd once today. I was turning on a hill and it was pretty muddy. I was just going slow so that I wouldn't throw up a whole bunch of mud. I just clicked it over to 4 wd though and drove out easy.

I'm looking at buying a small camera case to put it in when I take it with. Probably not 100% water proof but it'll still keep it safe I think.

I should be able to make a few dollars on them. Wont be any great amount but it's still a little bit. Those 3 batteries seem to be not to bad either. I don't think they're perfect but I'm hoping that they will work on the auger and smaller things like that. We're always short on batteries around here so a couple extras wont hurt.

Sounds like a good deal on the blades and other parts. All we've got for a mower is a old John Deere 140. It goes back to the late 60tys early 70tys. We put a 13 hp honda engine on it because the original kohler was just a piece of junk. Looks a little odd now because there's no hood on it but it still gets the job done. We were looking at little Kubotas and John Deere tractors but dang 15,000 is just to much to spend on a little tractor to cut grass with.

We've got two of them now too. Dad bought a new one the other day at John Deere. They told us that it was a lincoln but found out now that it's actually a allemite(sp??) It works okay so far so hopefully it hangs in there. They sure are slick though for greasing. We've got 3 batteries now and two guns so we should be able to keep at least one going. :D Dad paid 218 for the one at John Deere with one battery and he got the one at the auction for 135 with 2 batteries. It looks just like new too. It's the exact same gun except it doesn't have a deere on it.

Sounds like you guys have some water problems south of you Ryan the fish will be all over the place it was ten years ago we had that huge flood on the century here...they said they were shipping people to P.A.

I here you it has to pay its way or it’s just no good...

That just makes it fun when someone other than me gets stuck if there is enough of us its fun...that’s great you and your dad can get out for a ride or two now just get your mom out for a ride she might even show you up...ha ha...camera’s are go to have along for the ride...

Battery do bring some money eh

Yes the blades are a real good price I though ½ price is good
23 hp in the 130...I had a Honda for 20 plus years never touched the engine other then the plug oil , and air filter it’s still running Honda 3810 sold it to Hap...
No kidding some of them lawnmowers are huge coin that is for sure I like to stay down around a few thousand I would have to look to see what the cost of the L-130 was can’t remember...we only have a acre to cut here...

I have 2 & 2 with no battery charger I guess I will buy one soon have to keep them quads grease up running in the water..yes they do work great if it tuff to get the grease into the fitting it will do the trick that’s for sure it has some force...

Seen my first farmers out seeding today...

Hi Rick, ya they're having some pretty major problems to the south of us. Couple of lakes are up real high and there's lots of cabins that are flooded. The one lake came up over 2' in one day. It's a lake that's near my sisters farm. She said it's a basin lake that doesn't drain out. So they don't know what's going to hapen there for sure. There's a pile of roads bridges and culverts out this year too. Some places you've got a real hard time to get around now.

It's not so bad when you can sit back and laugh at the other guy. Sucks though when it's you siting in a mud hole up to the seat. lol..

Those little honda engines are sure something. They sold a older Honda riding lawn mower that sounds similar to the one you had at a auction I was at today. It wasn't in the nicest of shape but it sure ran nice. Sold for $800. It was liquid cooled.

We are just starting to think about getting stuff ready here now. I hooked onto the harrows today and got them out in the open. Started up the combine today, got to get it out one day and check it over and get it ready. I've still got that little bit of flax to combine if they don't burn it off on me before I get there. :bash:

Time to wash my bike again, it's starting to get pretty dirty again. Not as bad as last time but still muddy none the less. I actually got stuck backing up out of a hole the other day. I drove into the one run in our field but decided not to cross it because it was washed out to uneven to get across and there was a 2' drop to the side of it that I didn't want to end up in. I backed up part way but the front wheels spun into a little washout and it didn't want to climb out. It was okay though, I was far enough back that I turned and just drove out the side of it. I didn't really try to get out because I didn't want to throw mud all over my bike.

I seen that on the national new the other night wow they have water...I hope it works out for everyone.

Yes I might be doing that this weekend Ryan ...Steve want to try and make it up to the sled shack it will be interesting I think I will take my camera for a few pictures...

Unreal that’s what i sold ours for to Hap after 20 plus years after use...it was air cooled but the liquid came out a year or two after mine....

That’s right your flax I forgot about that money sitting on the field.....just put fire & theft on it ....will that work...(not) eh..

I’m most of the time with someone else riding and a few winches around with us so that makes it easy to be a little more of a dare devil eh..

We just about have all the yard work done we should be done this weekend sometime we hope. Been chipping away at it most of the week after work. More farmer out today seeding looks like they will get a good start to the season I hope...talked to a few of them they don’t like this wheat board thing they liked it the way it was they say they have to watch the market now ...i don’t understand all of it...

Have to go hockey on plus Claudette want to go for a ride tonight on the quads just a short one..

Yes, they've got some pretty serious problems in some spots. Even here, it's still real wet out in the fields. The hills are getting drier now but the low spots you have to stay away from. The R.Ms are waiting on the gov. to aprove opening up roads and putting in aditional culverts. I'll tell you one thing, if that was me in danger of flooding out in some of those spots I sure wouldn't be waiting on aproval. I'd be out there with the skidder and a couple road closed signs. Push up a couple of berms across the road and let er go. Oceans and fisheries can deal with it afterwards. :D

Well, hopefully you guys don't have to much trouble. By the looks of them pictures that you posted before though I'm betting it isn't going to be pretty.

It's unreal what the resale is on them little hondas. I was surprised that it went that high. Like I said it wasn't in the greatest of shape. I don't think it had been taken care of very well. They still got that out of it though.

Yes, I'm hoping to get it before to long but who knows. They're talking rain again on monday and I don't think it'll be ready to go by then. Going to try and get the combine ready this weekend though just in case.

Good to hear Rick, I bet it'll sure be nice to have in the summer. Go out in the evening drink a few pops by the fire and just relax.

Some of the older farmers around here don't like the way things are going either but I don't think it's going to be all that bad. There's going to be some changes sure but I don't think there's anything to get scared over. People went therw the same thing with oats a few years ago. Oats used to be around a buck or two a bushel. After they let them go though the climbed up a fair bit. They've jumped around lots since then but the last few years now they've been a very strong crop to grow.

Did you get out for a ride at all?

Rick K
04-28-2007, 11:15 AM
No kidding Ryan the summer I went to the Pas we built a berm right down the road that was the year we had all the water around here....I would do the same thing ...I think I still have some pull I should be able to get a excavator and dozer or two ....I hope..

Claudette said have fun she does not want to go ha ha no she has a few things to do so it will be a guys trip......it’s like winter roads to me Ryan I should be able to make it one more time I just don’t want to leave the quad in there and take a chopper out .....forgot it’s not the north....it walk out or swim .....heehee...

Yes I would buy a Honda again but they quit making them but I knew a guy not too far from here he said he had one it was the biggest piece of poop he had ever owned..

I sure hope you get it off Ryan the guys around here are going full blast right now it sunny out...we have these huge German Farm they move man do they move they did this quarter yesterday gone to another one....real nice people I did some work when I was running Heavy equipment...

I do have some work to do on the park I would like to get phase one completed this year..

Time will tell the tail I think Ryan...

Yes Claudette & myself went out last night for a few hours very nice night for a ride found some water just up behind our place it is real quite up here in places.

I think somebody would have a hard time stoping you from doing it or charging you after you did it. Some of the RMs around here are pretty timid when it comes to stuff like that. Some just don't care either.

To bad she can't go with ya. Did you guys make it out today? That was quit the adventure that you guys were on I remember hearing about that one pretty clearly yet. Someone on R.P. mentioned it just the other day too.

I guess there's always a lemon in the bunch somewhere. Not to many things that go wrong with Hondas usually.

The extra money would sure make a huge diference for me. I'm still not rich yet so anything I get will help. :D

I went out this morning for a ride. Was gone for about 3 hours. Put on about 60 kms. Had a really nice ride. Took lots of pictures so I'll post some of them tonight.(hopefully)

Yes I do miss them days and yes we got out 4 of us it was not push put it was pull though we have a blast that was for sure we made it to the sled shake ...Claudette Bill Steve & myself went we went till Steve had to go to reserve on the fuel about 6.5 hours Claudette said we were riding...

Hi Rick, once again I had a post all typed out but the computer lost it. Like you I'm still fighting with it. We've got some trogan or something of the like on here that's screwing everything up for me. Tried all sorts of stuff to get rid of it but so far no luck.

Yes, I did get my flax off on Sunday. It went threw the combine okay but it didn't winter verry well. Managed to get rid of it here the other day so it's not on the semi any more. We haven't started seeding yet at all. Getting real close now but still got a few thigns to get done. We were going to start spreading fertilizer tomorow but we had a break down on the air seeder tonight when we were taking it down to fill it up. So now we're on the hunt for some parts. I was out this afternoon and did a little bit of harrowing. Trying to get the ground to dry out a little quicker. Never came close to being stuck at all but I had the ol John Deere spinning pretty good a few times.

Looks pretty nasty from the pictures. I'm not a big fan of going threw stuff like that. I don't like gettign my bike that dirty all at once. lol.. Got it all cleaned up again the other day. It was starting to get muddy again so I got it all shined up again. I've put on 400 kms so far with it. So far it's treated me good. Good to hear that you guys had a good time. Sounds like Claudetter got pretty lucky. I've been thinking pretty hard about buying a cargo box but haven't decided if I should yet or not. I don't need it all the time but when I'm on longer trips it would be nice to have. I don't think I need to take any extra fuel with but just some extra space to put some dry clothes rubber boots and a few other things would be nice.

Hi Rick, we just nicely got started in the field yesterday and abou a hour latter we got around a 1" of rain. Everything is soaked right up again now. Ditches are running with water again. She's one big mess all over again.

I'm way behind in windows updates. It takes so long to download them on this dial up that we've got. Might have to try and get some of the dowloaded again though. I hear ya on the computer problems. I get so frustrated with this one sometimes that I could just throw it in the bush.

Just went threw my quad and checked it all over. Greased it all up again and cleaned the air cleaner. Put on about 20 hrs now since I got it. I grease it up roughly every 10 hours.

The cold doesn't bother me to much but I don't like a cold wet rain at all. That just drives the cold right into me. There's a nice rain jacket that I'm looking at, at peavy mart. It's 60 bucks though so I'm just holding out for now. It matches the colours of my bike pretty good and still doesn't look like a old rain coat. It looks more like a normal jacket.

Well that just sucks Ryan looks like it's on it's way here looking at the sky...yes then we would have to talk to the birds and trees one good thing they would not talk back go give you a hard time hee hee...

I try to grease it every time we have been in the water....we did get out for a nice ride last night Claudette and myself on top of the drainage ditch for a long way Claudette said I took her places she has never been ....she has lived here all her life long...

yes I should get one too but it's hard to put something on like that...but if it keeps one dry why not...

It was a nasty little storm. Whole bunch of thunder and lightning and quite a bit of hail as well. The lightning was pretty close too.

Loaded up my quad in the truck yesterday and went out to the forest east of home and put on a few miles. Mom and dad were in the truck and I was ripping around on my quad. No pictures for you though. Had my camera in the truck but never saw anything really worth taking a picture of when I was in there. Had a good little ride though put on about 25 miles. Fair bit of water on the one trail that I was on. It was the kind of conditions that I don't mind to go threw though. It was about a foot of water but there was that kind of sod base under it so you didn's sink in at all.

Good to hear that you guys are getting out together lots for rides.

The jacket that I was looking at I don't think would be to bad. It flexed pretty good and didn't seem to be to heavy. For me water and mud is one thing but a cold rain I don't perticularaly like.

Dad got back out in the field today again. I'm trying to round up some seed yet but I'm having a hard time to find what I want. No bodody has or has had much of what I want to seed. Found one spot that has what I want but they're a little over a dollar a bushel more than I had bugeted for. Probably have to go and get it from him though. My chemical dealer was looking for me but hasn't gotten back to me yet.

Hi Rick, that snow that you were talking about is here now. Had a couple tenths of a inch of rain now and the fields are starting to look white allready. It's not real snow but just like little hail stones. Not as hard though. Some places further north have had a couple of inches allready. It's -1 or so celcius here now and is suposed to drop down to -8 by tonight. I'm glad nothing is up here yet because if it was it would get hurt by the frost. We just drained the sprayer so it wont freeze up and break. This is just crazzy. It's may long though so we can expect it here in Sk. You can pretty much count on snow and miserable weather for may long. It just about never fails.

It was a good little ride. Put a few more miles on this week checking fields and burning stubble. I'm up to about 525 kms now. I've been trying to cut back on how much I use it but everytime I turn around I need it for something. Still using my dirt bike for running around but not as much now with the quad.

Sounds like a heck of a good time Rick, you should go. Just make sure you take your lap top with ya so you can show me lots of pictures. :D

I hear you on seeing the same things over and over. It gets a little sickening after a while. That's one reason why I'd like to go on that trip with my brother but I don't think things are going to work out in my favour. Suposed to be rain threw till monday and the quad trip is next saturday. We still don't have any seed in the ground. We've had some problems with the equipment. Not majour things but little things that are time consuming to fix as well as frustrating. We've just about got all the fertilizer down now though. It shouldn't take long to get the seed in the ground if things go right.

I was out harrowing on our wettest piece of land last night. The tires on the John Deere were slipping allot of the time when I was in there. It's all a big swamp with a spring that goes threw the middle of the bush on it. I went across one run but was a little leary about going back threw because I had left some prety big ruts. I was in high gear in the range that I was in and had to kick it down a gear becuase it was powering out when I got to the other side. I snuck threw though. Instead of going back threw it again though I cleared out a old road that croses threw the bush by hand. Had to run over a few little poplar trees and do some fancy manouvering but I snuck threw there.

wow a Ryan that's nut's eh....it's not that nice here either plus 3 this morning...on the web page here it says sask starts long weekend with snow....up around dauphin they have snow this morning...

wow you have us beat I think we are in the mid 400..so far..

I don't think I will be going I had to make that decision last December...what one had the brighter future I think I chose the right one...I'm not totally done with the training thought if the bm asked me I would do it..

yes I getting sick of the same trails over and over time to go away it's not that nice out this weekend so I think we will be staying home go for a ride this weekend.

most of the farm work is done around here... crop is coming up real nice..

I might be buying a sea can for storage to put the out of season toys and other things too..that way they can't tax me on it..ha ha

Still wet and rainy here. Had a few nice days the end of the week but now it's wet again. We haven't had much rain but it's wet enough now that we can't move to good. I was out this morning seeding a little bit. Once I finished up the piece that I was on I came home.

Haven't had it out much the last coule of days now. We're pretty well out of gas again too so that doesn't help. Probably going in for fuel in the morning again. I don't think we'll have room for the gas tank though with everything else in there.

So what exactly are you doing now?

The dollar is just nuts now. Getting pretty close to par now. It's a good thing for people buying but it sure hurts some of the people selling.

yes it has been a crazy weekend rain and cold here did not do to much we did not go away we did not ride the Quads went shopping a few times in the bright lights.,...lazy weekend ...

the price of gas who wants to buy it anymore...it's getting worse eh...hey I forgot I think I have my computer all fixed up...finally it's about time eh...

Well let's say I'm fixing guys problems at work if they have problems with employers I will look at the problems and try to fix it for them.............etc
will be starting some negotiations this fall for some guys that work at rm's unionized.....some people don't like me but someone has to do this job....they say I have big shoulder to do it......training was a lot easier and I like it too but it not full time this is.......

but I think I will be going to a RM to train a few guys on a grader with some safety we do not have anyone to do it so they still need the old guy to do a few things eh....in trainnig...I think my toe or finger will always be in it some way ....plus I do like it...

if the buck keeps on going up I will be heading to the states to go shopping for something...yes with Claudette...she like to shop in the states too...

watching the memorial cup (Hockey) on the TV some kids from our area playing in it...it is in Vancouver

More rain again now. The yard is sure muddy now. Probably only had half a inch so far but everything is so saturated that you'd think we'd just gotten 2" of rain.

We do get a little break on our gas but it's still awfull expensive. We don't buy any more then we have to at one time that's for sure. We don't have to much stuff that uses gas except for the sprayer. It's got a little volkswagon engine in it but it doesn't burn verry much.

Yes people can be hard to deal with at times. It's the kind of thing you just have to be able to brush it aside and carry on. Seems like there's lots of people like that in RMs too. At least around here. Some of the people trying to run the show are people that can't even run thier own buisness.

I think some of the operators around here could use some training too. lol. They don't like to put the blade in the ground at all that's for sure. All the do is move a little bit of gravel and dirt from one side to the other side of the road when they're out.

I might start looking for a newer truck now. That's the next thing that I need to buy now. Hopefully by next year this time I'll have somthing to drive that's better then my old buick. I'd like to find a 2000-2002 dodge diesel. I would like to get a 2003 like dad's but I don't think the bank account will support that one for now.

Wow I haven't put our rain gauge out yet maybe tonight when I get home from work boy we have water too...

yes our gas just went ...........up again what did you think I was going to say down.....1.23.9 a lt which is around 5.57.5 a gallon...I do have a problem with this we have the recourses right here in our on country....and we pay that much that's just nut's we are getting screwed.....

no kidding I here you on that one Ryan everyone has a opinion just a little crazy at times...

great choice the dodge diesel that engine is the best hands down in my eyes...

well I'm off to the north to the dam Wuskwatim on Monday....

well are election over the N.D.P won for the 3 rd time majority too...polls 51 % turn out that is bad eh...

calling for more rain today wow I just hope we do not have a repeat of two years ago eh it could happen...

Well, the water is running fairly hard again now. Got another 1" or so of water out of this last shower that went threw. Things are really wet now. I'm hoping to get back in the fields pretty quick but it's anyones guess as to if that's going to happen or not.

Saskatoon is at a 1.269. It's around 1.219 here. If you guys are at that price I'm sure ours will be going up a few more cents pretty quick because for some reason you guys are usually cheaper then us. I guess we could move to Iraq where it's 10 cents a gallon. I agree 100% Rick, we've got the oil here there's no way in heck we should be paying world price. But gov. is loving all this extra money from the oil revenue and the oil companys are making a killing so unfortunately I don't see things changing for a while.

Hopefully I can pick up something but we'll have to wait and see. We need a newer air seeder as well so that might have to come first if we can find something reasonable. Wont be buying anything though untill This years crop is off. I can't spend what I don't have.

Just a quick trip or are you going to be up there for a few days?

I think that's actually better then our votter turn out. It's sad, people just don't get out and vote anymore. I don't konw why for sure but they just don't. We suposed to have a election this fall sometime. I'm really hoping for a change. That's what this province needs to really get it going.

Could even be worse. This is by far the wettest spring that I've ever seen. Hopefully things turn around and we can get done in the fields.

Just set up a account on Facebook. It's a onling place for old friends to meet up and talk. Found some of my old friends that I haven't seen since I graduated. Hopefully going to meet up with some of them in the next little while.

Hey guys hows it going? Well I just thought that I would say hi and and see whats new? Well its been so busy here at work that I havn't had time to do anything? My quad is still sitting with a flat tire and I havn't done any mods to it yet. On the bright side I paid 2000 to my dads back tax's and I just have 2400 left to go haha. Well have a good one boys and will talk to you later!

Hi Jordan, yea it's been a while since you've been around. Was starting to wonder if you'd gotten hurt or something like that. I was down in Saskatoon again the other day and things are sure booming down there. Did you see my new quad? Ouch, yea those taxes are a real pain in the @#$. They're allot higher then they should be too.

Well, got another 1" of rain maybe even a bit more. This is just nuts now. We're about half done seeding now. I wanted to be all done by the middle of may this year. That didn't happen though. We'll be lucky if we can get back out in the fields I think by Sat. It's still cloudy today not suposed to start to clear up I don't think till tomorow either.

I didn't get to go on that quad trip with my brother at all. It was sunny and warm out that day so we had to go in the fieldls. There's another one on the 23 of June though that I'm going to try my damdist to go on. We'll be spraying probaly then though. :(

Hi Ryan

just got back from the states Claudette and myself went down for 4 days Minneapolis...looking at quads and sleds boy I think we are going to buy down in the states...wow is the word..

yes they have water around Grand Forks unreal not as bad around Fargo but they have water too....

gas well here we go I filled up just before we went down about 98 dollars yep....so I had to buy gas when I was down in the states so I ran it low filled up and right up.....67.00 that's all I could get in...the dollar was about .07 so it works out to around 4.69 ....so even if you said 72 to fill the truck right up what gives eh...something wrong with this picture.....eh

yes it was a short trip to Wuskwatim Dam 4 or 5 days we went for...

wow that was a picture beside your sisters place that tractor was stuck eh no kidding how that stuff gets around eh...

I was thinking the wet summer we had remember the pictures I posted well I was thinking about them poor farmers around Grand Forks it's getting to the point of recycling the water...when we left today it looked like they are going to have rain every day it said on the TV..

that's great to find old buddies you have not talked to in some time....

have to run time to cut the grass and weed wack before it rains...

Hi Rick, been busy hauling out grain now the last couple of days. Got another 6 or 8 loads to go yet. Roads are teribly soft though. We had on a 3/4 load today on the semi and even that was a bit much in some spots.

So there's that much difference between here and there ehh? Might have to look into that as well when I go to buy a new sled. Heck even my next vehicle for that matter.

Pretty wide spread over some areas I guess. Hard to believe that some southern states are begging for rain and we're begging for sunshine. lol..

The sad part is that's our fuell they're selling for a 3rd less. Caugh if up to gov. taxes I guess. At least that's what the oil companies want us to believe.

I've seen that picture now in a pile of spots. It's a big shot farmer though who thinks he's got the world by the tail so I don't feel to sorry for him. lol..

Nasty little storm just rolled threw to the west of us. Lots of lightning and thunder. Hopefully we dont' end up with any of it here. Still some people trying to get done seeding. Most of them are the ones who are trying to farm to much or are just plain slow. There are some exceptions though where people just couldn't get on to the fiels till now. The slow ones are trying to blame it on that too but everyone else knows the real reason.

My brother is suposed to be coming home this weekend so we're going to try and go for a bike ride on sunday. Then next weekend he's planning a big trip that I'm planning on going on unless we're out spraying. I think I can sneak away for a day though. Probaly put on a 100 or so clicks if I can get up there. Probaly be up over a thousand kms by then. I'm still trying to cut back but I swear someones sneaking off on it when I'm not looking cause the kms still seem to wrack up on it. lol.. Have you and claudette managed to get out lately at all? I just about got stuck tonight when I was out. I drove across some silt that had washed in this spring from a washout. It looked dry but when I got in the middle of it I sunk about 8" or so. It doesn't sound to bad but it's that wet slimy slipery slew mud. You know the stuff I'm talking about. It just gums up and slows you right up. I confess though, I did get stuck with it the other night. Similar situation except this time it was crossign a little ditch with some mud like that in it and all around it. Had to get winched out of that one. Took a hard pull too. Dad got stuck the same day on his as well. He went to cross a swamp that he thought I had gone threw but I hadn't. He got in the middle of it and ended up in about foot of water and 8" of mud. I managed to drive right up behind him though and pull him out backwards. I partially used the winch and partially just pulled him backwards.

Got to go check over my bike now. Haven't checked the air cleaner in a lilttle bit so it's time to do that again.

Hi Ryan did you see the price after the wheat board was dumped that looks pretty good eh. how far are you guys hauling these days. drinks a little more fuel when the roads are soft eh.

yes sure is it's unreal.

yes it reminds me of a few years back when we flooded it just picking it up and throwing it down. weather sure is different these days. east of us they have roads that washed out from all the rain lakes are very high too.

Fuel it's not right that's that.

the crops look good around here but other places lot's of water sitting in the fields.

wow your blowing me away I think we are around 500 k's have not been out for some time hope to get out this weekend. I here ya on that silt it's not nice stuff eh. that God for winches eh it would be a fight with out them.

going away training they pulled the old dog out of retirement they needed someone to do a special project it could turn into something huge for the training department. I think I should be able to get home every other night time will tell.

Barley has come up some more. I can't say one way or another though if it's because of the wheat board or not.

I'm actually surpriesed that the sk. river hasn't come up higher then it has. I guess they must be letting out the extra water ahead of time.

Crops are looking pretty good here so far. We're doing good for moisture right now. Not to much but not real dry either. There's a chance of showers today though. Of course on the day that I want to go quading. My brother is home today and we were suposed to go out for a ride. We're going to wait till after dinner though and see what hapens. Wont bea big ride anyways but I'd still like to go for a bit.

It would've been pretty hard to get dad out without it. I maybe could've just pulled him out but he was in there pretty bad. The water was up to the bottom of the exhaust on his 400 honda.

So is it still heavy equipment training? Or are they sending you off to something new? Hopefully it'll work out for you so you can be home as much as posible.

Hope you got out for a ride. Still hoping I can get out too.

Good Day

On June 16th I had a lump on my left leg up by my testis it proceeded to get bigger and I was running a fever...On the 17th it got worse so in the evening Claudette & myself went to the Hospital to get it looked at....They cut it open to drain it and I had a fever of 39.7 I was on fire infection city....So they sent me home and said to come back tomorrow to get the it changed so we went back that night...Well it got worse so they admitted me into the hospital and put me on I.V. drugs.

As the week progressed they took blood out of me and took blood out of me doing test well on the first day of summer June 21 2007 I was told I'm Diabetic, yes I'm over weight and need to lose weight along with changing my eating ways which has been done already with a exercise program...People that do are close to me now the exercise part won't be a problem either, from my past from body building I do still remember how to do this and look forward to getting back into what I did for over 20 years.

As you can see I'm putting a real positive spine on my new changing life style we will win, Claudette has been a rock for me without her this would be a great deal tougher she is a gift for me I just can't say enough about her she is special.

This Diabetes is controllable, your blood sugar should be between 4 & 7 well with the 2 pills that I take per day one in the morning & 1 at night.... My blood sugar has been 5.2 which I check twice a day morning & night.

So we will be starting training again and eat right and they say I just might be able to control it with diet in time and no med's so this will be our goal.....

I have a saying on our answering machine plus cell my mother loved it and I do too ( Remember Jesus Loves You)

enjoy life to the fullest please be nice to everyone....

I love this saying it is so true (Be Kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle")....

Wow Rick, that's some scarey stuff. I sure wasn't expecting to hear that. Sure hope that everything works out for you and that it doesn't cause any long term problems for you. Thanks for letting me know. I got your email too.

Those tornados are sure nasty. Mom said one had touched down by elie and I was wondering how close it had gotten to troys place. Weather has been pretty good here the last few days. It's been hot though so I'm afraid there's a storm heading for us. Time will tell I guess.

Hopefully prices will continue to rise on grain. I'm really hoping for another really good year. I could sure use the extra money. I've just about got my bike paid off now. Had I not had to buy seed and fuel and parts this spring I would've had more then enough to do it. I still had to put a crop in though.

Just about done spraying here now. We've got about 220 ac. left to do.

Me my brother and sister inlaw with their kids plus my mom and dad went up to the bush last sunday to ride. We got up there and I unloaded my bike and it started to pour down rain. So no body buy me rode that day. I put on about 15 miles back out of the bush in the pouring rain. Yester day though I got out for a really good ride. Me and my brother and sister inlaw along with one of my brothers freinds and his wife went on a big ride. We put on about 170 kms yesterday. Would've easily been over two hundread but everyone was getting low on fuel so we had to turn around and go back. Nearest gas station was another 20 miles out of the way and my brother didn't want to go that far. I took a couple of pictures though so I'll see if I can get them posted. Not sure if it'll be right now or not but hopefully before to long. Figured out my mileage when I got back home here just for the heck of it and it worked out to 29.8 mpg. I was pretty happy with that. On a full tank I've got a range of about 215 kms doing the typed of riding that we were doing.

Our computer is on the blitz again. I went to turn it on the other night and it wouldn't even make a sound. It was completely dead. I monkeyed around with it tonight and managed to get it going by wigling the back plug in on the computer. So for now I'm going again.

Hopefully you can get it under controll real quick so you can get life back to as normal as posible.

I'm going to post this now before I loose the whole thing. lol..

I sure hope we can get it. It's going to take some time though to get our tower up. Something of which we don't have to much extra of right now. We need to pour some piles first so it don't blow away on us. I'm hoping now that things are starting to slow up that maybe we can get started on it. We're just about done spraying now. Hopefully in another couple of hours or so it'll be all wraped up. I was out and sprayed my wheat on Monday but was that ever a disaster. I quit counting how many times I got stuck. It wasn't a fun day at all. Dad even got the dodge stuck in the field trying to pull me out. So I had to walk back and unhook the other truck off the goose kneck trailer to pull him out.

There's definately a learning curve to this new vista. Starting to get it figured out now but there's so much else with this computer that I haven't even began to figure out yet. I have to buy a new set of speakers for it though. My old ones wont work with this one. So that's a extra couple or three hundred bucks that I wasn't planning on spending just yet.

There's some crops that look real good and some that look like crap. Ours aren't too bad. We've got some that's suffering because of all the water but over all they're not to bad.

Sounds like a much deserved little holiday. You guys haven't been out in a while have you? I'm going to try and get out for another little ride threw the bush up by home here in the next couple of days. There's a few spots that I haven't been for a long time that I'd like to try and get back to. There's a pile of water up there in some spots though so I don't know what it'll be like for sure. Sounds like your ready to have some fun on the iron again ehh.

So is the sign the finishing touch on the park or have you got lots left to do yet?

That's good to hear Rick, hopefully you can get ahead of it so you don't need to rely on the pills. It sounds like you've got a good plan all worked out.

Got to go help get the sprayer ready to go so I'll talk to you latter

Yes I hope it get it too Ryan it will be nice for you guys you will love it.
that's great you are going to be done spraying...they are spraying for fungus now here it is wet in some place but other places are great.
Wow I just do not like that getting stuck it sucks. some guys are using the spry plane around here but I would not want to guess how much that would cost eh.

Yes no doubt about that with the learning curves but I like it more and more as I get used to it. yes I picked up a set for ours we have sat in the truck XM so you can put it on your computer at no cost so I picked up a good set of speakers a boy does it sound great. I picked them up at Costco they are Logitech with a boom box too 10" woofer 89 bucks they where clearing them out..even Michael said , dad them thing are good..

Yes some here are rotting out just low lying area not much a guy can do about that.

not going to happen Claudette and myself are taking dad in today for a lump on his neck they want to do a biopsy they don't now what it is so we will not be going away for a few days. but we will get out for a ride this weekend I hope.

the sign will be great wow this guy is good you will think it is assume I will explain it to you when I post a picture of it. No it will not be the finishing touch I have a few things left to do. one thing will be a big job I want to build a huge rock can't spell it nukshuk...

I sure hope so Ryan... :D

Took a little bit extra because we had about 3 ac. left to do and we ran out of spray. Had to make a quick trip to town and get some extra. I think we're done now though. Our canola should've been sprayed a second time but it getting to far advanced now to do it. I would trample down to much to get it done. Spray planes are running around 6-9 dollars/ac. here.

Up till now I haven't swayed one way or the other as to which I liked better. I've got the basics pretty well figured out now I haven't really gone into any of the new stuff yet though. I might just have to have a look at costco next time I go down there. I didn't even think of them when I was shopping around. Thanks for the tip Rick.

Hope everything goes okay. Hopefully you guys can go for a little rip if nothing else.

Can't wait to see it any idea when it'll be done?

I got out yesterday for a ride. I put on about 40 miles in total. Got to see sonme places that I hadn't been before so it was okay. Took a couple of pics but nothing to great. If i get time tonight maybe I'll post a couple.

Is that good or bad 6 to 9 a ac. I have no idea what is is worth here but I will ask.

Yes I set up my eating with blood sugar cart with vista and my weight training chart with exercises and stretching works well....

yes it will be nice but I think the park will never be done Ryan I will be making improvements all the time....let's say it will be a life time project. I will post pictures after the sign is up.

wow you are blowing me away with the miles on the quad we will get out today or tomorrow....Steve has another bunch of guys coming out next weekend for a ride it will be a big one looking forward to it...

It gets to be pretty expensive when you go over lots of acres. Even just to do one quarter section it's 1440 at 9 bucks a acre. Ground aplication runs around $3.5-$4.5/acre. Ab. is rediculous now I hear. They're up around $10/acre just for ground aplication. At that price they're brining in over $1000/hr.

Good to hear that you're getting everything all set up. It should help by making it easier to keep track of everything.

I've got on a little over 1200 kms now. Plus another 200 or so on my dirt bike. Probably wont be on any longer rides now for a while.

Sure hope that you can get out and put on some more miles Rick. Summer will be over before you know it.

I'm starting to play with vista more and more...

well you are kicking me we are around 550 I think we went out for a ride last night about 1 hour. ....next Saturday will be a good one I hope...your right it will be over soon summer it is flying by sure is hot out though....

Michael went out to the Calgary Stampede on Claudette side of the family the Mannix Family is huge they gave Michael a booth with every thing paid for...he said people bring you what ever you want he said he felt like a king....

Hi Rick, managed to get down to saskatoon yesterday for the big show. We didn't bother to stay over for the R.B. auction today though. Just as well though, they've got Tornado warnings out for that area right now.

Good to hear that you guys finally got out for a little ride again. Is Claudette going with on the big one? Summer is just flying right buy. Seems like it was just yesterday that the snow was here. Hard to believe that it'll be three months this Thursday that I bought my quad.

I've heard that name before, not sure where. It could be from back in the days that we were both on R.P. quite a bit. They put on quite the show out there that's for sure.

It's pouring down rain here right now. Things are getting wet again. I didn't mind a little bit of rain but it's getting to be a little to much now again.

wow that's great but wow for the tornado yes I would be putting my tail between my legs and running the other from that. How was the show ...

yes you said it little ride ha ha...I think so she love it when it gets wet and muddy...no kidding to fast but looking forward to winter I have 5 weeks of holidays to go sledding with and boy are we going to have fun....Claudette has 8 weeks....wow you have done well putting on the miles eh...

Yes rain we have not done much training in the summer months most of it is in the winter so this will be different with the rain how it will affect the dirt moving operation....we have not had rain for over a week or so....we are due

The show was pretty good. We were late getting there though so we missed out on quite a bit of stuff. Still got to see all the old steamers going though so that was pretty neat. Hopefully I'll get a lil bit of time and I can post a couple of pics for you.

Are you taking your camera with? I have never really had mine out in the mud at all. I did some ditching with it this last big rain that we had but that was about the extent of it. I just got it all cleaned up again on Sat. Still muddy here so I don't think I'll take it out for another day or so yet. My brother wants to go quading again but I don't know when it's going to be for sure. Dad didn't get to go on the last one so this time maybe he can go too. Wont put on as many miles but it'll still be a good ride. If I stay at the rate that I'm at I'll probably have on about 3000 kms by november. I might have to cut that back though so I don't wear it out so quick.

Did you guys get any rain yesterday or last night? The radar showed that big storm that was in Saskatoon heading for Winnipeg.

Lance dropped me a line today he must have been on holidays because I sent him lot's of jokes then boom he sent me about 6 good ones today....

Last night early morning it was coming down like cats and dogs about 5:30 are you sitting down when I was on my 35 minute exercise bike trip...hee hee yes I sick in the head to get up that early and do that but I do enjoy it...and my energy level is going up and up I feel great.....then after work to the gym for 45 minutes to 1 hour then home....for another 20 minute bike ride....

I enjoy looking at all of the old machines especially the old steamers. Was going to post a couple of pics last night but I ended up in the shop till about 10:00. Trying to get some speaker mounts made up. I fianlly got ahold of a set of speakers for the computer. Here's a link to a site with a review of them.Speakers (http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-311-1.htm)

Your getting up there too, gona have to start looking for a new one pretty soon. lol.. Hope you don't have to pull them city guys out to much. :D

I haven't talked with lance in a while I should send him a email and see what he's been up to. Did he tell you that corrine moved back south?

I have trouble getting up at 7:00 some days. lol.. It's good that you can do it though. I'm sure it'll get you back into shape quick with all that working out. I started working out before I went to bed last winter and was actually doing pretty good at the end but one night I got lazzy and skipped then it was harder to do it again then finally I'd just go to bed instead. I should start again but I've been pretty tired when I go to bed lately. I know I know excuses excuses. :D

Gona be another busy day I think. Got to get a fuel tank cleaned out make those speaker stands and a bunch of other little stuff. Fairly simple jobs but they're all time comsuming.

So do I yes the old steamers are real cool to see working they are amazing....

Wow them are kicking speakers for a computer I have the Logitech Z4 they do real good for me....

Hey it's a Yamaha it's just broke in Ryan ha ha...it will be fun I'm looking forward to the ride just to get out and relax and play...

I have been a early bird for the past 12 years but before that boy I could sleep in no problem...yes they say if you work out in the morning you will sleep better at night because when you work out at night your hart rate is up so you know what happens then it hard to sleep...but everyone is different it works for some but not others so you must find what works best for yourself...

looks like we have some heat coming way boy it is hot in B.C.

Yes I new Glen told me about Cory moving down to moosehorn I think it was just up the road from Glen and Mellisa...

They're not to bad. I'm a little disapointed though. They don't have a real good range. I've got the speakers up in the corners of the room and they're just a little to far away to be completely afective I think. The back speakers get drowned out by the center speaker. I've played around with the settings on my computer trying to get it all worked out and it's a little better but it's still not quite there. It's good enough for the computer though. Songs where it's just vocal and guitar come threw pretty good but if you get a song with some live music in it the audience sounds muffled. I got a good deal on them though so hopefully they'll last a long time.

You gona start wanting all them new goodies that are on the new 700 before to long though I bet ehh. :D That power steering would be nice with your big mud tires

That's just unreal what they've been getting out there. It's warm here today though too. It's at 30 right now I think. Haven't done to much the last couple of days now as far as outside work. Spent a day at a auction yesterday. There was a big trucking outfit in P.A. that sold out. They had all the small stuff left yet. Stuff went dirt cheap though. We brought home a big half ton truck load yesterday and went back to pick up a few other things that we couldn't haul home yesterday.

Wow I should send you my XM info so you can lesson to the sat radio or try it out.....them speaker sound like the real deal....

No Ryan I would love to have a new apex before a 700 Grizz but I think I will be waiting for sometime before I get one....Our dollar is over 95 yesterday and you can pick up one state side for around 3,000 to 3,500 cheaper...link to bringing stuff across http://www.riv.ca/ enjoy...

good show lot's of shop stuff in the auction...

time to get ready for the big ride today....Steve said the city boys have huge lift kits and snorkels on the quads this will be intresting day today....

That would be pretty sweet but I don't know how well it would work on this darn dial up. I've played around with them a little bit more and have them sounding pretty good now. They sure sound good on acustic songs and piano songs where there isn't lots of drums and guitars along with background noise. They tend to get drowned out a bit but overall I'm pretty happy with them now. I turned our office into a home theater now though. :D THe sub sure puts out nice too.

If my bike holds up real good I'm going to really look into it for dad. He needs a new quad too. He'd like to have one like mine but he's waiting a bit to see how it holds up. Haven't been down into the states for years so it would be a interesting trip even if we didn't bring anything home.

There was a fair bit of tools. We didn't bring home much for tools though. Lots of parts and some stuff that was just junk. Mom got a newer office desk out of it though. I took over her other one a few years back for the computer so she finally got another one to put in here. She's been working at a little old table for a while now and it was just to small. She got it cheap too, only paid 5 dollars for it. Nothing is wrong with it but nobody wanted it.

Hope you guys had a good ride. Can't wait to see the pics. Sounds like it should be entertaining at least.

Yes I sure would not mind a new desk for 5 bucks what a deal you got wow....right place right time...

these guys have a Kawasaki & a Suzuki real nice bikes all dressed up too...yes they got stuck and I did not the Grizz was great...the mud bugs seem to clean them self's better then the ITP did plus they had the ladies on the back....we went around 100 k's .....the ride was about 8 hrs long lot's of playing...

I got looking on the back of the computer today for a different jack and I saw that the conection for the rear speakers had pulled out just a little bit when I had turned the computer back. Now the back speakers sound a little better. They're not so quiet now. :D  I tried it out and it was what I expected. It would play some then cut out then play some more. I got to get a little listen though. Sure is lots to choose from that's for sure. Are those all the same chanels that are on the recieve as well? Or are there more?

It's a older desk but a semi newer style. It's good enough for the office anyways. Heck for 5 bucks it's pretty hard to complain.

Yes I don't think those XTRs clean all that well. It's the same with dads mud lites. I was kind of surprised with mine they don't do to bad in the mud. Not that I've been in any real serious mud with it but what I have been in they power along pretty good. It's useless backing up though unless you're in 4wd.

Sounds like you guys had a pretty good ride. Glad to here that you didn't get stuck. Looks like those other guys were stuck pretty good a few times. I don't think I'd ever snorkel a quad. If I have to go threw water that deep I just aint going to go.

That's quite the car that steve has. Bet it really flys too.

Just about got our winter suply of fire wood all cut up now. We've been down at the mill cutting it up with our wood processor that we made. Some rainy day I'm going to take the splitter and a trailer down to the pile and starting splitting for the shop. I'd like to get the winters suply all split and piled before the snow flies. That way it can dry out a little better. I need to do about 8 or 10 chords though. Gona take a couple of days anyways if I do it all by myself.

Well, things have kind of gone for @@#$ this last week. We've got wheat midge now in our wheat and it's allready past the stage of spraying. I don't know what we're going to do for sure. I'm going out to check mine tonight and see if they're in it too or not. It's a beautiful crop coming too now I don't know what there will be there at all. Might not be anything left come time to harvest. Next thing will be army worms in our canola. I'm expecting them to be bad again this year. Just can't seem to win this year at all.

Been busy getting things fixed up now for harvest anyways. Getting close to getting the swather done I've got a few more things to check over on it and posibly fix. I got the oil changed on it today and I charged up the air conditioning on it. Next week I'll hopefully start on the combine.

Got my bike all cleaned up again last night and checked it over and greased it all up. Should've done the air cleaner too but It hasn't been that long since I cleaned it.

Took a couple of pics last night of the crops. Here's a couple of them. First one is of the Canola and Second is of one of our wheat crops that is infested with midge.

[attachment=37383:Quad_Pic...misc_001.JPG]

I made it half way down this hill on the river bank but I had to turn around because of all the washouts. I was just about threw the worst of it too but there was a bad one across the road that I didn't dare to cross. I actually pulled the quad around by hand to get it turned around. I had no problem driving back up the hill though.

this sucks my dad has a lump on his throat so went to the doctors they took a bio off of it the results came back it is cancer .....advanced they give him 1 to 2 years to live...he smoke cigars like a trooper and drinks like a fish.....they can give him some stuff to prolong it but that's about it...

There's going to be a bunch of little things to fix but as far as I know there isn't anything to majour to do. Some how there's always something that shows up that wasn't there last fall though. :(

I love climbing stuff like that. It's so hard to get down it though. It's allot steeper then it looks, the top of the hill is almost vertical. When I came up I was leaning right over the handle bars. Going down I was leaning way off to one side crossing one washout just so I could get across it. Another spot I got off the bike on the down hill side and held it while I drove down. I should've taken my camera with me when I went down the hill and took a picture looking up, that would have given a little bit more perspective to it. If I'd of had my dirt bike there I think I could've gotten down without to much problem.

I'm very sorry to hear that Rick. I guess about all a person can do is take advantage of the time he's got left and hope for the best. You never know sometimes people can live for allot longer then what the doctors say. It's sure tough to take that close together though I bet.(close to your moms passing I mean)

Sure is hot here now. Supposed to go up to 36 next week. We need some good heat to bring the crops on but that is a pretty extreme heat for them.

Ryan

07-22-2007, 12:00 PM
Well I hope the fixing goes fast to give you some time to enjoy the heat a play....do you guys still have your sea-doo...

I think it looks very steep to me I could see that but what would be tough would be finding a way around them big wash outs from the water eh...yes a picture from the bottom would be cool that is for sure...

yes it is to bad time will tell I hope he gets some more time then that....

yes it getting hot here too yesterday 30 today 35 and hot for the next week up to 37 they say but the humidity is very high here that is the nasty thing it`s 25 here right now but the humidex is 35 already...yippee

Yes, we still have it. Haven't had it out at all this year so far though. My brother has the next two weeks off so I'm hoping to get up there one day with it. Dad wants to take it out and try it out locally though before we take it out on the lake. There's a spot on the river where you can launch a boat. They've got a little resort type thing goign there. It's only about 35 miles but we can't even get away to there for a afternoon. Part of the problem is that it's been so hot lately. Dad doesn't like to be out in the heat verry much so we haven't gone out with it yet.

I'll see if I'm back up that way I can get a picture from the bottom looking up. I wouldn't mind to go back and walk all the way down to the river anyways. I walked down the one big hill but I came to another one so I went back. It was really hot out that day too and I didn't want to tire myself out. I didn't know at the time how I was going to get turned around so I didn't know how much energy that was going to take. If you had a spade and did lots of work you could probably make a path across some of the washouts. If you look close there's a dead spruce branch or top laying in the middle right side of the picture I moved it and went down there. It was still steep but there wasn't as many washouts right there.

Got the front end of the skidder all washed up today so we can start to work on it. We still have to figure out where the antifreeze is leaking out. Then tear into the engine and fix what's wrong.

I here your dad the heat sucks wow is it hot out eh..I hope you guys get out to use the sea-doo.. ....we have been starting early in the morning and quitting around 2 boy it cooking then the humidex is well over 40 by then...got a great tan going being out in the sun...

yes that would be nice a picture from the bottom that`s for sure...we have not been out for a ride just the one with Steve I would like to go away for one...boy we have the fires burning up north South Indian....

what kind of engine in the skidder Cummins engine....

Went to the doctors yesterday the weight is coming of from about the 15 of June I`ve dropped about 29 lbs...but I have some way to go yet...I`m getting back into the gym again it`s starting to go....and the big thing I`m loving it again it`s fun...

The director called me from training today asked me if I would be interested in going to Churchill to do a training course...I said we would have to talk he said yes I will pay you more...so I laughed...it would be for a month in October....we will be talking tomorrow about it...

Sounds about the same as it's been here. We've been up around that 40 mark too with the humidex. You go outside and you just droup. I sure hope so too, going back the last three summers now including this one we've used it once. Yup that's right a whole big 1. :( We've actually been talking pretty hard at times about selling it just because we never get time to use it. Even threw all of this heat my legs are still white. I don't know what it is but I just can't get a good tan.

It's a Detroit. Haven't had much luck with it either. We just rebuilt it 400 hrs ago. I found out where the leak is coming from. Turns out it's a internal leak that is leaking threw a pipe on the side of the block. Going to go up tonight and drain the coolant and oil out of it.

Wow Rick, that's unreal. Glad to hear all that hard work is paying off. That's is more then half the battle right there if you don't enjoy it it's awful hard to stick with it.

Well, you'd get a taste of the north again. Sounds like the pay would be pretty good.

We could use a nice little shower right now. We're not real dry yet but it wouldn't hurt. Might help to cool things off some too. Trouble is more then likely at the end of this heat there's going to be a big ol thunderstorm and it'll be a nasty one.

Well, finally got out on the sea doo again for a little bit. It worked good but we were out on the river and it was a terible mess. There was weeds growing under the water all over in the shallower spots. Lots of drift wood too so you had to keep your eyes open. Put threw just about a tank of gas anyways. I took my quad with this time so I'd have something to do when mom and dad were out ripping around on it and vice versa. Should've had two sea doos. We don't use the one that we've got enough though to justify two.

Starting to get pretty dry here now it's getting to the point where the crops might start to suffer some. Found some army worms in our canola so now we're probably going to have to spray that.

Sure is hot here yet. Been up over 30 just about everyday. There's talk of cooler weather this week but who knows. And by cooler they mean mid 20tys instead of 30tys I think.

I think it's 725 cc or somewhere in there. It's 85 hp, I know that for sure. It tops out at around 50 mph. I managed to sneak in a few doughnuts with it anyways. :D On my last run with it I always play around on it some a ways out from shore. I would've riped around some more but there were some people out there fishing so I didn't want to disturb them at all. It's quit the thing with it though you can be going along at 30 or 40 mph let off the throttle a little turn the handlebars all the way and open er up and you go right around. The front end goes down into the water and you just turn right around. It doesn't throw you or anything, I don't know how the physiscs works behind that one but you just ride around with it. Kinda fun anyways.

33 today with the chance of a sever thunder shower tonight. Sure hope we don't get anything to bad out of it. They are calling for rain tomorow morning though so hopefully we get some.

No, he hasn't been out for a while now. He's been so busy around his house that he hasn't had time. He's trying to decide weither he should build a new garage right now or not and doesn't know what to do for sure. He doesn't want to spend all the extra money I don't think but at the same time the garage that he's got is to small for him. He puts his Dodge diesel in there to work on and it's pretty well full.

Good to hear Rick, hopefully they carry threw with it.

Think I might go for a little drive tonight on my quad. I need to check the canola on a quarter of land that we've got north of home for Army Worms anyways. I think we're going to have to spray before to long. You can see the birds sitting in the canola now and that's not a good sign. Probably drive up to the sand dunes afterwards and play around a little bit.

Here's a couple of pics I took yesterday. One of my quad right on the edge of the river and one of mom and dad coming back to the dock with the sea doo.

Opps, did that happen at the floodway? That sure is one big ol hoe. I'd sure like to get a smaller one but I don't think that it's going to happen for a while. We've got allot of water that could be ditched out without to much effort. Couple of days digging and we could get rid of allot of water.

Looks good Rick. Should help to protect it in the bush that's for sure. I thought about getting one of those gas can cariers like that but then got to thinking about the gas jugs leaking inside and making a mess. You'll have to let me know how you like them. It's not to often that I need extra fuel but on a long ride it would be nice. I can get about 200 kms before I really need to worry. Fuel gauge shows empty before that though and it's not verry nice looking at a empty gauge when you're in the middle of no where.

Some of the new 4 strokes now are putting out around 250 hp. They say they'll do 75 mph across the water.

Cooled off here too now. I'm starting to think that our real warm weather is over for the summer. Had a couple of little showers go threw but nothing real big.

I was out last night and sparyed 40 ac. of canola for armyworms. There was a piece in the field that was really bad. For now that's all that we are going to do. I'm hopping that we don't have to do anymore then that.

I haven't been on any longer rides for a while now. I went up to the sand dunes the other night and played around a little. It's okay for my bike to sit for a little bit though, I've put on just about 1600kms now. Roads will be pretty busy yet I imagine.

Sign and the park look great. How come you put down lime stone? Is it because of dust? Looks good though. That's not something that you see around here to much.

Good to hear that your shoulder is better now. That's quite the thing that it was out all that time.

We're at least another 3 weeks before we start to combine at all. We've got one piece that has allot of sand on it that might be ready to go before that but the rest it at least 3 weeks away. Swathing is probably at the closest 2 weeks.

Yes it did Ryan it was a sask contractor that did that Kelly Pantiluck construction...let me tell you he has by far the best equipment on the floodway...I have talked to Kelly a few time he seems to be a very nice guy...the hoe is a 385 yep it getting big...

Claudette likes the bush guard so far we went for a ride yesterday ....I hear ya about the fuel leaking out I will let you now how it works ...Steve wants to go for a ride this weekend coming up...

that is nasty 250 hp when is it going to stop when someone gets hurt...75 across the warder that's not for me...ha ha I think I'm getting to old for that ...

yes we need some rain here the crops are flying off the fields big time ..

dam worms eh...

wow your blowing me away with the K's I think we are around 700 k's that it...we will have to make it up come sled season eh..

should have gone to the doctors eh crazy not to...

that's ok eh 3 weeks no frost then...

off to the dam Wuskwatim for a few day I have the dig with me I will pop a few pictures to see...

thinking of taking a few weeks of in September head out to Thunder Bay it's been around 20 years since I've been back to my home town...then head down into the states to see what kind of a deal I can get on a Apex 40 th ...been talking to Troy about it still some big time coin...but the G man says they are going to talk to the companies about the price different....and the dollar being close to par...it might help some guys out like Troy because it is killing them right now...same in the trucks I can pick up a full load 3/4 ton sle gmc with 750 miles on it for 50 k.... it is 65 k here..was talking to Chad about this he said it is killing them too...that even had a dvd player in it..sun roof heat seats etc..

of to the north Thompson Manitoba

Can't say that I've ever hear of him. Probably a big contractor in southern Sk. There's quite a few down there that I've never heard of before.

Had a busy week again. Got the skidder engine tore down and the head into the shop in P.A. to get pressure tested. The head checked out okay though, it was just some leaky injector tubes. So it's not as bad as what we had thought. Hoping to get it back together next week. I had to spray some more too. We've still got a little bit left that we havn't done. I don't know yet if we're going to have to do it too or not. You can't see to many out there at all and there isn't really any pod damage but who knows. Hopefully we don't have to do it.

Yup, come sled season it'll be the other way around, I'll be at 1000 and you guys will be up around 3000

I might see what kind of a deal I can scrounge up for dad on a new quad down in the states. They were talking about new 650 bikes like mine except the standard vs. for around 7,000 us. That's about 3500 us cheaper then here. That's a pile of money.

So, how was your trip?

you should see the equipment the guy has unreal....he is a big operator..

well that's a good thing with the skidder eh better then having to replace the head...wow the worms still giving you problems ....most of the crops are off here now...

I thinking real hard about a Apex time will tell...with all the holidays I have we will be putting some real miles this winter I hope...

that's what I'm thinking with the Apex too state side unless they wake up up here and if they don't well the will starve that is for sure...

well it was good came home with some more art work I think I'm starting to collect that stuff now...other then that they have a pile of water up that way it has been raining alot...early fall and early winter with snow I hope .....will post some pictures for you after....

Pretty neat stuff you got there Rick. You're going to have to build a show room in your house for all of it. :D

Yes, we were pretty happy that we didn't have to spend all the extra money on the head. Was even hapier that we didn't have to pull the motor out. Wow ehh, nothing has even started around here yet. I'm kind of anxious to get out in the field and start though.

I wonder how many more miles your RX1 will take before you have to put some money into it. It's sure been good to you hasn't it?

I don't know who is doing it or why the prices are so much higher, it sure doesn't make much sense. I still have to wonder if gov. isn't behind it somehow with some hidden taxes.

Went out for a little quad ride last night. Got back to some spots where I haddent been before at all. Put on about 60 kms. It was sure nice out though, it was cool but not real cold. Wasn't any bugs out that was probably the nicest part.

thanks Ryan I'm off to the north again on Monday this time it will be a big tour of the north Gilliam, Spilt Lake, Fox Lake,Thompson, Grand Rapids last place will be Wuskwatim the dam ...should pick up some more art work..

how it going with your over haul on the engine....have you started on the crop yet it's off here just a few left to come off...we have had a few big time rains here...

I hope a few years yet it is sound in my eyes I have one bearing to change on the track, but that is it the engine uses no oil...I think all I have lost out of the picks is one it has been a great sled that's why I have gone to Yamaha for all our toys...

well they better wake up or there will be no one left in business in Canada because everyone will be running state side to buy if you can save 3,500 per toy...

I wish we could get out more but it is tuff with dad starting his treatments, work etc...maybe on Sunday we will try to get out...so much to do just not enough time to get er done....

I will be training again over at St Andrew airport on the heavy equipment again for 6 weeks when I get back from the north....

off to the city to pick up dad he wants to come out for a few hours today...

Wow, that's quite the tour that you're going on. Should be a pretty nice drive though ehh?

We haven't gotten the head back yet from the shop. I think they phoned yesterday afternoon but we weren't in. We talked with them yesterday morning and they were working on it then so hopefully it's all done. Nothing started here yet for harvesting. There's been a little bit of swathing done but still not very much. I think by the end of next week there will be quite a few going in the fields swathing. It'll probably be another couple of weeks though before anyone around here really gets going combining. My brother in law has most of his winter wheat off so they've got quite a bit done. Not to much of that in around here though.

That's pretty darn good Rick. I'd like to get a newer sled too but it's not going to happen for at least another couple of years. Things that should be done to the yamaha this year are the clutch gone threw the carbs gone threw and get the seat sown up. It still runs strong but there's some little things that are making it lose performance.

I hear ya, there's always something to take up your time. Allot of my miles are within a 5 mile radius but I just go out when I get a chance and take a look at the crops or just drive out in the field turn off the key and relax for a bit.

Went to saskatoon yesterday for a hydraulic pump for the combine. I would've like to stay over and gone to the air show this weekend but to many things to do around here. It didn't look like the weather was going to cooperate anyways. They had a pretty nasty storm going threw when we left last night. I drove threw pooring rain for about the first 50 miles or so then it kind fo let up. We did get a taste of it though. They were flying all over the city yesterday and doing some practice runs by the airport. Pretty amazing stuff they can do with them planes. The one guy was flying with a older prop plane doing stunts. He was leaving smoke trails. He'd go straight up in the air till he powered out then straight back down to earth and pull up at the last second. Pretty fun to watch.

Haven't had much rain here so far but the next 5 days they're forecasting rain or posibility of rain. I'm afraid it's setling in like it was 2 years ago where it just wouldn't stop raining. I've got a feeling that this harvest is going to be a real bugger to get off.

yes it should be a good one.... it is a crane awareness course and heavy equipment training course we will be promoting in the north...Doug will be doing the crane & I will be doing the heavy Equipment...I will take some good pictures of the country this time...I love it up in the north that is where I spent most of my life ....

that would be good to get it back because the next thing you know you will be doing wood...they say the crops are from so so to great all depends where the rain hit...you guys are further north though that's why I guess eh...

darn Ryan I'm always dreaming of new stuff I was talking to the gm dealer I want a full load 3/4 ton diesel extended cab that is what I might get..I love the heated seats great for my old back...66 for that truck though...tuff one nothing wrong with my 06 though...but it's a 1/2.. ....sled I would like a new Apex 08...that would be better I think then a new truck...and more in the price range...

yes it been a few years ...we went to Portage to see a air show with Michael...it is cool stuff to watch what they can do with them planes..

well in the construction industry we always where uncomfortable with September because of the rain .....it takes longer for thing to dry the days are getting shorter and it is rainy season ....this all suck when you work in the dirt...and farm is in the same ball when you think about it....just my opinion...I hope you have real good luck getting your crop off with NO rain...

Had coffee with Glen Yesterday Cory is having her new house warming tonight...she live not to far away from Glen...Joey's ex...

well I might go out for a putt on the Quad for something to do Steve blew his up so I don't think he will be riding anytime soon..

I've never been up that way at all. Furtherst Norht that I've been is The Pas. Which really isn't all that far north when it comes down to it I guess.

Yea, it seems like you guys get snow earlier but it goes earlier. Always a little bit warmer over your way too. It's been raining off and on all threw the night here now. Things are starting to get muddy again. Hopefully it'll blow over and not freeze but that is usually what happens when we get weather like this. Once it all clears off then it gets cold.

Ouch ehh. Them new trucks are sure expensive. Especially when you deck them all out. When dad bought his new dodge in 03 you could buy it with all the rebates for around 42-44,000. His has everything but leather and a 6 disc cd player and dvd player.

Sept. is a funny month. Some years it's nice others it's just down right nasty.

Think I might change the tube in my rear dirt bike tire today. Raining enough that a guy can't do much outside at all. If it lets up I might go split some wood up. Depends on how ambitious I get. :D

I forgret, what kind of a quad did steve have?

Rick K

we should one of these years do the run to Churchill in the spring it only 168 miles in on the sleds that would be nice across the tundra...

I think it's going to be a early winter this year something tells me that...we will see how good my felling are...ha ha ...I think I will take a jacket with me to the north this time it can get cold too....

no kidding eh they want some real coin for them new trucks..... that 06 we have listed at over 47 crazy eh...

well we did not get out for a ride on the quads but we might go to the city to look at a sea can for storage for the toys and other things we need some more room...I tell you that Claudette just keeps on buying things I just don't now what I'm going to do with her...

splitting wood I miss the wood if the truth be told....

Would be a real nice ride I bet. A friend of mine has been all the way up there from here on sleds. He's a real sled fanatic. Puts on around 3-4000 miles a year.

I think you could be right Rick. And that's what I'm afraid of this fall. :(

They've goten prety rediculous on them prices. Scarey thing is what's it going to be in another 20 years. It's getting to the point where out money isn't worth a darn thing.

Started changine tubes on my dirt bike and found out that the tire is wrecked as well. Spend a few more bucks I guess. At least I'll have a matching set of tires after this though.

You'll just have to build on. :D That'll solve all your problems. lol..

Didn't get to the wood pile at all today. We did some work to our disk instead. It needs alot more work though. Lots of breaks and cracks that we hadn't seen before and didn't know about.

I took a few pictures of the power line going to Churchill we where 168 miles away from it...I wish I could get that type of mileage on our sleds per season...maybe this year early snow I hope...I need a head start Ryan...

how is the crop coming have you guys got going on it ...

another 20 years who knows where they will be not to high I hope I might still need toys ha ha ...

so did you get it all welded up Ryan ....

Great pics Rick. that water is sure pourign threw there.

We've got our canola all swathe now. I finished that up this morning. No pictures though. Didn't think about taking the camera with. It looks not to bad but I wont know for sure what's there untill we combine. There's the odd combine starting up around here now on some stuff that has been desecated. Not very much though. Most guys are just starting to swath right around us.

It's been raining off and on here too the last week. Wish it would quit and warm up but so far there's no sign of it letting up. Got pretty close to frost a couple of times. I'm hopping for some more time yet becuase my wheat is still green and it will hurt it if it freezes.

Had a guy out on wed. to put the head back on the skidder. Got it fixed up and running for about a whole 10 min. Something is still leaking though so now it's got to come back apart again. Not looking forward to it either. Had a big discusion going on RP. trying to figure out what's goign on with it. And they've kind of come to a conclusion but it's anyones guess untill it comes apart again.

Haven't had time to do anymore on the disk at all yet. Been busy swathing and fixing the skidder.

hope to get out for another ride this weekend on the quads ...Claudette & myself had a nice on last weekend ....starting to get things ready for the winter...still have to get a sea can before the snow flies to put things into for the winter we need the room in the garage for the car & truck...tuff to put it all in but it can be done...

Things are actually pretty slow around here yet as far as harvesting goes. Would've been allot more off had it not rained last week for a while. My wheat is still not ready to swath yet. There's a few combines just starting to roll now but most are still sitting. We've swathed all of our canola now and a little bit of our wheat. We're scared to put it all down though in case it rains again. Which is most likely going to happen. :( We might be able to do some on sunday if we get some heat and it doesn't rain.

Yes, it's better now then in the middle of winter but it sure would've been nice had it not hapend at all. It's costing us a pile of money that we haven't really got to spend right now. I've just about got the engine ready to pull out now. Have to undo some hoses and mounting bolts and it's ready to come out. Figure is a o ring around a sleeve that's leaking.

Hope you guys can get out for a ride. I loaded up mine and we drove up to the bush last sunday. We went scouting for some logs and I went touring a little. Put on 35 miles or so. Traveled some roads that I hadn't been on before though so it was fun.

Yes, I can bet it's a tight fit getting everything in there.

Getting closer to getting the disk all fixed up now. Need to do some welding on it yet and tighten things up a little bit yet.

when we put the blade on the Quad it will not fit then so I think next weekend I will start where the can will be going with some loads of pit stripping cap off with some dust...then place the sea can..

I put a post up on R.P. to try and get some info. In a way it ended up getting more cunfusing. You'd get one set of people saying one thing and another saying another. They're all people that I've known from the forum and consider to be pretty smart when it comes to that stuff too.

Actually I think it's going up for sale pretty quick. Don't know yet for sure but we'll have to see. Dad was thinking about trading it off on a garden tractor or I guess I should say yard tractor. We've got nothing to work the garden with or mow the grass right now.

That little JD should make short work of that. Sure is a nice looking machine. Be nice to have around here but I think it'd be a little small for the bush. Be pretty good for snow plowing though I bet.

Had a good day today, went up to Candle lake with the sea doo for the afternoon. It was a little choppy at first but it calmed down pretty quick. Then it was really nice out there on the water. Spent about 3 or 4 hours on the water.

Going to try and finish up that disk tomorow I think. Basically just the welding left to do now. I have to check the wheel bearings too.

what kind of lawnmower are you guys looking at...

right on sounds like fun with the sea doo...you guys have been using the sea doo a few more times this year eh ....summer will be on the down swing right away..

Yes it is the training cat it has a 6 way blade on it air all the goodies LGP etc...

bearing I think I have on to change on my sled speaking of bearing...

I think next weekend I'm going to start on the pad for the sea can get er done so all I have to do is buy the sea can then start putting the toys inside..

raining here right now

It's a Kioti compact tractor. 30 hp diesel engine with all the goodies. Little bit of over kill in some areas but there's some room to expand with it a little then.

Yup, got out twice this year. :D Maybe next year we can make three, :( I'm thinking that this years fun is done.

You better get that sled fixed so you can come sleeding out here next week. They're taking of snow now. :( Sure hope they're wrong but in this province it wouldn't surprise me the least.

I was wishing I had that little cat here last night. I was pushing out one of my v ditches tha I had made with the skid steer so we could cross it. Sure slow going with that little guy. That 6 way blade would've been just perfect, and the perfect size for that too.

Finally got some combining done here. Managed to get off a little bit of wheat yesterday. Hoping to do some more today but there's a chance of rain and it's to wet out yet to go so who knows.

So are those velvet paintings? That little sculpture it pretty neat.

Yes I thought old sawmill was good at that stuff I guess he can miss one or two sometimes eh...

yes that is a very nice size tractor Ryan....

better then none you still might get one ride in yet after the snow eh...

I keep saying it's going to come early this year time will tell ....

yes she is a little sweetie for that stuff you can do some real nice work with that little guy...

good show I hope the weather helps you along to getting it done in time...

they are made from Caribou hair unreal eh they look better in real life...thanks...

I hope to be going to Churchill in late October or November to train so I should get some nice art work up there...

Ok I was thinking of getting a nytro fx instead of a Apex what do you think....just a thought....

I guess when you've worked on all sorts of different equipment it's easy enough to get them mixed up.

I guess it all depends on how long harvest draws out. If we can get done there might be time for one more ride. At this rate we'll be combining to december. I got the wheat on our home quarter done yesterday. Was sure a disapointing crop though. It was under half of what it should have been.

Wow, never would've guesed that. Never heard of that before.

Nytro FX is a suped up vs. of your phazzer isn't it? I haven't really been paying to close atention to the new sleds lately. I even let my snow goer subscription go. Isn't it like a 130 hp compared to your 150 or some thing like that? I guess maybe with the weight differance you wouldn't notice it at all.

Rick K

Yes it would and could happen your you just get to old and forget ha ha...

I sure hope not riding you sled to the combine would be a cool picture though....but I hope it does not happen Ryan.

yes it is unreal to see live..

yes it sort of like that yes it's 130 hp it's 10 less then the RX1 but I'm getting old and I don't need to go that fast...it will be fast enough for me...good point I never thought of the weight difference but you have a point...we will see maybe maybe not....time will tell...

Went out and tried some of our canola today but it was to tough yet to take off. The canola itself was dry I think but there was some weed seeds in it that weren't.

It could be a real fun sled if it's light enough. It can be allot of fun riding them light weights even if they don't have all the power in the world. Thought the RX1 had more hp then that for some reason.

Ryan

Rick K
09-07-2007, 09:57 PM
Sorry to here that Ryan hope it gets better for you guys...

yes it's only 10 hp less then the RX1 but it only weights 524 dry well over a 100 lbs lighter then the RX1 ....as I think about it more & more I think that is what it will be it is over 1,050 cc and it won the sled races last year....so time will tell I just need time to start shopping around to keep Troy on his toes ha ha...

Well everything is good and wet now again. Had 1/2-1" of rain the last couple of days and it's not over yet. :(

Sounds like you're changing your mind from the apex. Should be a little cheaper too. Put a long track on it and it could be a real fun sled in the deep stuff.

You're in the real heavy duty stuff now ehh? :D That should'nt be to hard of a course to do.

Might go out on the quad today if it doesn't rain. was thinking about going up to my brothers tomorow with the sea doo but if it rains more that isn't goign to happen. Don't want to take it out in this mud at all.

Sun is shining here today but it's still awful wet around. I think we're heading up to the bush today to scout out some logs again. So I guess if we go today will be my ride for the week again. I want to talk to the guy I rent from too he's on the way up to the bush. My lease runs out this fall and I want to get it renewed again. I want to spray it and work it up this fall but I'm not going to do that unless I can have it for sure again. no sence in cleaning it up some mroe for someone else.

It's not like you have to have a new one. Your RX1 is still in pretty good shape so I'm sure it'd make it threw another year. How's the track on it?? That's a ripsaw on there isn't it?

They're still talking rain this week. Hopefully they're wrong and it's real hot and dry for the next 4 weeks. The odds aren't in our favour though. :(

Did you see those pictures of that massey tractor that was pulling a high boy trailer? His bucket dug into the ground and it folded the tractor right up. It hapend south of here a ways.

I'll get a couple of pics for ya today.

no it's in great shape Ryan I've taken good care of it the track looks real good it's picked too...don't now if that is a ripsaw or not....

same here rain just great for training back to class .....it takes longer to dry now less sun less heat .....equals stays wetter longer...I would say your properly right Ryan on the hot and sunny....

I went down one old road that went into a ravine today. I thought for sure in just a few hundred feet it would come out of it and I could give er but not. It followed the creek all the way. I went threw it till I got to some bigger trees that I didn't feel like climbing over with my bike. You could've had all sorts of fun though.lol.. I got threw it not to bad but coming back out was a bit of a chalange in some spots. I got hung up a couple of times and had to push my self backwards a little bit. Still had a little bit of fun over all though. I didnt get any pics of it though unfortunately. My camera was in my rear storage area and I had the chainsaw straped down over top of it. It's a road that is suposed to lead right down to the river so I'm going to try it again latter on. I'm going to make it threw one way or another. lol..

Thanks Rick. It's pretty nice up there. It's down on the start of the river bank. The river is another mile or so but it slops all the way down to the river.

Sounds like you're pretty busy out there too. It rained off and on all week here too. Today was the first sunny day that we've had for a while.

Haven't moved a wheel all week. Still trying to get that spraying done. It froze hard last night so we've got to wait for a bit before we do it now. The earliest will be tomorow afternoon. They're talking of nicer weather now for the next little bit so I'm hoping that we can giver er heck and go next week. We've got lots of ground to cover yet and not a whole lot of time to do it.

Still don't quite have the skidder all fixed up. We went to put the engine back together on wed. and i saw that the one sleeve was just about broke off. So we made a real quick trip to saskatoon and picked up parts and got the engine back together yesterday. Got it in the skidder today and parshally hooked up. Still have to put the radiator on and hook up the hoses to the torque. I sure wasn't happy when I saw the sleeve. I droped it on the floor from about 2 feet just for the heck of it and it broke right off.

Did you ever look into brining in a vehicle from the states? I'm seriously looking at buying a 2007 toyota down there if my crop comes off good. Not a brand new one but something with a few miles on it. They're quite a bit cheaper down there.

It's a real nice spot to ride for sure. Like I said you'd have all sorts of fun getting threw that little creek that I was in on my quad. :D

Well, finally managed to get something done around here again. In the fields that is. Went out this afternoon and started to take off the canola. I got some of the spraying done before that but I have to go and do mine tomorow morning if I can get there. Going to try and spray and combine at the same time but it's not going to be easy. You can be sure too that whoever gets left alone will have the most trouble too.

I told them but sawmill still didn't believe me. So I put some pictures up and I never did hear back from him.

Thanks for the link.

That's about what the diferance is on a brand new one too. Maybe a little less but not to much. Crazzy isn't it.

Sawmill knows lots about lots, that's for sure. And yes he is a verry nice guy. I get a kick out of it when he's trying to push some of R.P. guys buttuns by telling them that cat is better. I sure hope so too. Got my spraying done today and got some combining done at home here as well. Dad went out with me and mom and then he came home to combine. I traded him off when I got back. I tell ya, it's been a busy day. Tomorow will be just as busy though and the next day and the day after till it rains or untill we're done. Hopefully the latter of the two.

I agree too, I jjust get a kick out of it when he bugs them IH guys. Gets them going pretty good sometimes.

See that's how busy I've been lately. I haven't had time to pay atention. Well that plan went straight down the drain. :( Woke up this mornig at 6:45 and saw that it was still dark in the house and I new that wasn't good. About two hours latter it started to rain. Hasn't rained much but it's been a real heavy mist in the air all day long. Just enough to make things good and tough again. Going to try and get the mechanic out tomorow and finish up the skidder. It's pretty well all done all we have to do is fire it up and try it out and make sure that it's going to be okay. We've got a little bit to do before he gets here like hook up the rad and some linkage but nothing to serious.

Some of those guys get awful defensive if you mention cat over there. Don't really know why but they do.

Did troy frown on the high kms at all? Can't wait to see it.

Should be back out in the field hopefully by tomorow morning sometime. There was one guy going here today again but I imagine it was a little ways from dry. I don't mind taking it off a little bit tough but it gets to hard to handle when the moisture is to high.

Yes I can just see it hapening. Every one likes to think they've got to best no matter what it is. Me I don't really care as long as it's reliable and does a good job. I don't believe that Caterpillar is the absolute best at everything but there's a darn good reason that they're still around after all of those years. I've told cat dealers that cat is the John Deere of construction equipment. :D For some reason they didn't like that to much though. :lmao:

Gotta give them salesman a hard time once in a while. They don't forget you as easily that way either. I bet you're like a kid waiting for chrismtas now though. :D Just waiting for that first snow to go out and try it out.

I'll be honest with ya Rick, for us I'd be happy if we didn't see any snow till Jan. or so. We're going to try and get our logs out earlier this year as the snow usually messes us up that way. So you can have our share this year. :D I'm hoping to get the Yamaha all fixed up this fall to get it back to the shape it was when it was new. But I'm in no real big hurry to wear it out again. Not that it's all wore out but it needs a few things. Especially carbides. Last two or three years I've been running on nothing pretty much.

Got the skidder going today. So far so good. We're scared of it now though. I took it out and worked it pretty good while the mechanic was here and it didn't fall apart so hopefully it'll hold together for a long time this time. We've got way to much into that engine now as it is.

Got some more off yesterday. We've just about got all of the canola off now. Got another 35 ac. left then it's onto the wheat. It's still standing so as long as it doesn't rain to much we should be able to get it off. Rained here last night though so we're shut down for a while again. Forecast is for rain as well so it doesn't look good for the next little while.

Took the skidder out this morning and worked it for a bit and now I have to change the front crank seal. It's leaking out oil. It never did before but all of a sudden it started. That's not then end of the world to replace but it's still more work. Spent a couple of hours getting it all washed up today. It was sure dirty. It's just like a old cat that's been in the bush all it's life. Think I've got it pretty good now though.

You can have all of our snow for a while. That's a swear word around these parts yet. :lmao:

Your RX1 sure looks good yet. You've sure got that track studded. I never realised it before but that rear skid will bolt right into my yamaha yet. I thought they had changed that quite a bit by your sled but I guess not.

Real wet and kind of raining here this morning too so combining is out again. Got the canola done though. We took off the rest of it tough yesterday. Who knows when it would've gotten dry anyways. I think it's going to be one of those years where just about everything comes off tough if it comes off at all. Elevators are all pluged up and no one can hall at all.

I went to check the oil on it the other day and it was a inch over full again. Smelt it and this time it was diesel fuel. I had a pretty good idea of what was wrong so I pulled the valve cover off and fired it up and the diesel was pooring out of one of the fittings on the return line. They had never properly tightend it up. Put in a new seal and tightend it up and it seems to be okay. Had to do a oil change though. I about the last 6 hours on that engine it's had 4 oil changes now.

Sure hope it gets here fast Rick we could sure use some good heat for about 3 weeks. I think we could get everything off dry then.

Yes, I've seen lots of those kinds of people. When it comes down to it they just want to look. Hopefully this guy will be diferent though and he will come up with the cash for you.

Sure looks good Rick. I see you've still got your shorts on. :D Not quite ready to give up on summer yet ehh. :lmao: I think that's the first time I've seen you without your sunglasses on too. Sure not much of a widshield though ehh.

Same here, had a real nasty storm roll threw here tonight just after supper. Didn't rain to much thankfully but still enough to make everything good and tough again. We were going to try and combine today but it rained a little off and on today. Never very much at any one time but still a few drops. We should've tried to go this afternoon anyways but we didn't. We're seriously looking for a straight cut header now. Might go and look at one tomorow, I'm not to sure yet. I've been thinking about renting another combine so we could give er once we can get going but that would cost me huge coin I think. I haven't looked into it yet but I'm thinking to take off my 180 ac. it would cost me at least 4,000 to rent a newer combine.

Going to try and get a new oil filter and oil out of the place that did it but I don't know if they'll give us anything yet. I'm just scared that it's hurt the o rings in the engine. Those o rings are what caused us all this grief this last go around. That was because of hack mechanical work too.

I'm afraid too that our warm days are over. For crying out loud the sun set here tonight before 7:00 our time. Think you guys are the same as us now. That's not a good sign at all. The deere are fatening up and the bears are on the move now. All the animals are saying in they're own way that winter is coming awfully quick. Even the darn muskrats are building up again. We've got one muskrat house now that I swear is a two story. It's at least 3' above the water and there's probably at least another foot under water.

I've given up on my shorts now. Gotten to cold to be out with the out now. Yea I'm a big wimp. :lmao: Technically I guess you still had them on. :D 100 miles still isn't to bad is it? That's about all I get in fairly good conditions with the yamaha. I guess some places you might be getting a little short on fuel. It's surprising how quickly the miles rack up when you're riding steady.

Should be interesting to watch ehh.

Dried up not to bad today. No work done today though. We went and bought a header for our combine today. Hoping to get it running tomorow. There's one little piece that didn't come with it at all. it's a piece that slides over a coupler to hold the two drive shafts together. Didn't come with the header at all. Dad's going to try and make one if we can't get anything else. The big portion of my profits would be gone. For a few more thousand I could get another combine exactly the same as ours. I think that would be a better way to go but I'm not qute ready yet to do that.

For some reason I thought you guys had allready gone back the hour. We don't change here at all so I don't keep track of when it is for sure. I've heard before but have since forgotten. Days are getting shorter awfully quick now that's for sure.

They're sure allot more comfortable to wear that's for sure.

You might have to buy a little rack for the back end and carry a extra couple of gallons with you just in case. You can always trade up again. lol..
