Is it just me or did we get cleared out Rick. Came onto here and saw that everything is gone. I don't know if I replied to your last post or not Rick. Thunder and lightning outside right now, most of it's North of us though. Probably get some rain before the night is over though. There's a few guys rolling in the fields now, we're going to haul grain out this week and get some more grain cleaned then hopefully next week we can give er hell. Ryan

Hi Rick, spent the first day out in the fields today. I went out and harrowed a couple of quarters, just getting them ready to seed. I was just about sitting once though. I came up to one hollow that didn't look to bad. When the front wheels hit though they pushed the mud out, almost like a wave in the water. I new I was in trouble then. I manage to get threw to the other side but then I powered out. I had it in the highest gear I could in the range that I was in. I did get down a gear too but it still wasn't quit enough. The front wheels were on dry land though so I started to rock it and it came a couple feet at a time. Finally at the end I was just about out so I gave er and got the heck out of there. I was a little more careful after that episode. I know of one guy that bought a quad like that, only he paid allot more. He had allot of trouble keeping it going though. Hope Hap makes out okay with it. I cheked out that troys website the other night, he didn't show any dirt bikes like what I'm after though. I imagine he had some there somewhere though. Ryan

Hi Ryan sounds like you had lady luck on your side doing some field work....that would be no fun getting stuck no one around to help out just like winter roads....you need sat radio I got one for x-mas and have not even used it yet ....but I would have if I went on winter roads.... Got sick yesterday  head cold body feels like I got ran over by a farm tractor and not a small one either and big one....they say it last for 10 days been drinking lot's of water though.....it's cool outside here so I will take it easy no Quad today maybe tomorrow...heehee Will be interesting to see what Hap does with that Quad I hope it gets it running soon but I have my doubts... Wow them tires are unreal where I would go though before in 4x4 and just make it I go in 2 wheel drive stop and go unreal..... I would not have thought tires would make that much of a difference but they do.....I need extensions on the fenders that why she gets unreal muddy it flies... Troy does have dirt bikes there his web page is not up to date he even has water crafts....and Apex sleds too... :sly: Rick

Yep, I got lucky that time. I was bitting my teeth for a little bit. Last Feb I bought a set of midland 2 way radios on ebay. I had it with me all day out in the field. Dad had the other one with him all the time. I was only a mile away from home so even if I had to walk it wouldn't have been to bad. Went out today again and did some more harrowing on the home quarter. Found a few soft spots there too, nothing as bad as the other one though. Sounds like the exact same cold that I had last week. The worst of it was over in a couple of days but it hangs on for a while. I kind of figured that he'd have them. Little dirt bike is working good for now again so the hunt is off for a little while unless I find a screaming good deal. Not a whole lot of extra money to spend right now anyways. I'm hoping this fall though. Glad to hear them tires paid off. We need new tires on our quad too. Ours are wore pretty much right off now. Probably wont go all out though we don't have it out in mud much at all. Ryan

Rick K
05-13-2006, 09:04 PM
That's good Ryan you have them radio's... ya this cold sucks I have not been sick for some time but when I do I get sick it knocks me for a loop... I was lookiing a some yesterday when I was there for the 3rd day in a row Ryan... Yes them tires are unreal I would not have belived you if you told me it would make that much of a differance... If you want my old ones you can have them they have just over 1,100 k on them they will sit around here and do nothing.... I will ship them cod you pay the shipping and and that it... Rick

I've wanted to get my hands on a set of radios for a while now, but had never wanted to pay 100 bucks for a set. I found a set on ebay in feb that were on for a good deal so I figured what the heck. They come in handy and the auctions too. Makes it a little easier to find one another. They're not good for a real long distance but I'd say they're better then cb radios or at least the ones we used to have. That's the same with me Rick, I don't get sick verry often either but when I do it hits me hard. It usually knocks me out for a couple of days any ways. Hope you get over it quick. Ya must really like looking at them apexs ehh. :D It sounds like there's going to be one in the not to far future. All you need then is a Yamaha generator to go with it and you'll have it made. I put a new mud tire on my dirt bike this spring and that sure made a difference too. I used to have one heck of a time getting around in the wet stuff no I've got no problems up to a point. A little traction goes a long ways. Wow Rick, that's one heck of a offer. Do you know what size they are? I think our Honda has kind of a odd ball size on it. We'd have to give you something for them though they still have to be worth something. :) Ryan

ebay has everything Ryan have they changed though...yes the auction what a great idea Ryan.... yes sick sucks have not done much from Friday on just drink lot's of water sleep watch hockey play on the computer....little better this morning still taking it easy though... Yes Ryan I sure would like one just because....but who knows what will happen...that to funny I was looking at a Yamaha gen set to have around here if the power goes out in the winter to run the woodstove cold air fan water pump...etc stove did quite leaking going to have a look... I want nothing for them... if they will fit then find a place that will deliverer them to P.A. and there yours...on the other post the spec on the tires are there Ryan... Rick

Feeling any better yet? Maybe good enough for a little quad ride threw the mud. :D We had a traveling salseman stop in here the other day. He was from eagle power tools. They sell generators and other things. They had a special on, on generators. I think it was a 6500 watt gas generator for $2,000 I don't know what they are new, but he said it was a heck of a deal. It's to bad them tires wouldn't have fit, I think we could have gotten them here fairly reasonalble too. Oh well. Maybe you can make a few bucks on them out here some how. maybe hap needs a new set for his big new quad. :D Ryan

Wholly crap, hap still don't have that 550 fixed yet. He should've had that done last winter. Glad to hear that your getting better. It's been 2 weeks now that I've had mine. I'm prety much over it know but I can still feel it in my chest. Here's a link to the website, I see the 6500 watt gas generator is sold out now and the price has gone up. The diesel isin't to bad though. eagle power tools (http://www.eaglepowertools.com/diesel_generators.htm) Ryan

Hi Rick, pretty well over mine completely now. Had some pretty good lightning here last night, from about 7:00 on threw till midnight. Few good cracks. I went out with my camera for a few minutes but I didn't get any good shots at all this time. Those guys sure have a pile of stuff for sale on that sight. I wonder if it's any good though or just some knock off stuff. Ryan

I got it from dad, mom never ended up with it though. To bad that Claudette got stuck with it. Rained a little bit overnight, windy as ol hell out right now. Doesn't look verry nice out either. They say tomorow is suposed to be better though. Sounds like ya got er all planed out. Around here we'll be in the field again I imagine. It's funny, as long as I can remember we've never had a good may long weekend. It's always raining or snowing or just plain cold. We're right around a 1/4 done now, I'm hoping by the end of the week to be wraping things up but who know if it starts raining we might not even get out there till the end of the week. I picked up some Canola seed the other day, 9 bags of it. That's 450 lbs 7.5 bushels of the stuff. The bill came to $2565. It's crazzy what they're charing for the stuff. When you sell it you get $6 a bushel. My one brother was going to come home but he decided that if we were going to be out in the field there would be no point. I guess he was scared we'd put him to work. :D Ryan

Hi Rick, been busy in the fields the last few days now. But we got rained out last night. We made a trip in for parts today and just kind of rested up. We're about 3/4 done now and have about 300 ac to go. In the last 6 days we've gone over about 800 ac. Another 3 days and we could've had it all wraped up for the year. It's raining out a little bit right now again so who knows when we'll get back at it again. My brothers not scared of work at all, if anything he's a worka holic. I was just kind of joking when I said that. He'd sooner come home when we're not seeding so he can actually visit with us. There's a few people around here who don't like that word though. Ryan

I was not Ryan there are some people that just don't like the word work...but I do believe you about your brother anybody or just about anybody that comes of a farm do no how to work that's for sure....ok I now which ones you are talking about....heeheehee Rick

Hi Rick, just got back in from the field about 10 minutes ago. Today was the longest day we've put in this year. We went out on my land that I rent on the reserve today. We've got fertilizer down on it now we just have to get it all seeded in tomorow hopefully. It's all clouded over right now though and there's lots of thunder and lighting around. It looks like we could be in for some more rain. We got 3/8 of a " the other day. Some places around here got as much as 4" and others were right around 2" we were happy that we didn't get any of that. Sadly I know a few farmers that aren't all to ambitious. There off to coffe row first thing in the morning and back again in the afternoon. Don't matter if there's work to do they have to go and get the lattest gossip. I imagine you've had your fair share of them around you over the years, seems they never get to far in life though. Ryan

Sounds like it's going well Ryan what are you guys planting this year.... you must have sent that rain this way boy did it rain about 4 am that's why I'm up it rained so hard I had to watch it...with a coffee....just love that fresh smell from the rain... yep we do have a few farmers like that but they do come in all types of people not only farmers.... Boy Hap has been real busy putting pumps on big rig to go west pumping crude oil....more people heading west... I hope to get out for a ride this weekend....will see though Rick

Hey guys hows it going? Been really busy lately working like a mad man. 60+ hour weeks so were going hard. Not to much doing lately just work and sleep and thats about it. The little blonde was down last week but she was kinda in a pissy mood the whole time so what do you do? I think she getting into the drug seen out there; her friends were complaining that all the guys there just wanna snort coke and crap so I wouldn't doubt that shes into it just hows she acting lately. Cause in the last year shes been getting worse and now in the last 6 months she seems mad and cranky all the time so who knows? Her brother is moving back home here and I got him a job finishing concrete so he's all pumped about that. He'll be working for summitt and there a really good bunch of guys and there going to pay him as much as he was making out there like $18 an hour or something so hes really happy to be back home. Home hard ware is coming out and there putting up my garage so thats pretty cool. There doing that today. Its 24x30 with 2x6 walls and a 10 foot high ceiling. We poured the concrete last Friday and we colored it a lattee brown. It looks pretty good. Then I ran a light very light broom over it and it looks awsome. So thats all I've been up to lately and tomorrow were going to go paintballing. There is about 10 of us who have our own guns and my sister is renting 16 guns but there not semi automatic so that kinda sucks for them haha. So we should have a really good time if we don't get rained out. So what have you guys been doing lately? Take it easy and will try to keep in touch. I don't know if I told you but my brother flew over his handle bars and broke his wrist hes still off work and he had to go in for surgery and stuff and get pins put in his wrist so thats no good. So now hes planning on selling his bike but he has to put a charge coil into it first. Well I'll let you guys go and I better get back to work so have a good one and will talk to you later.

We got rained out again yesterday, went out all set to go and broke the air seeder down. By the time we got it all fixed up it was pooring down rain again. Still verry wet around here but we might try it again tomorow afternoon. We're seeding Canola Flax Oats and Canary Seed this year. No wheat or barley so far. Dad might put in a few acreas of wheat when I get my land all in. Sure are lots of guys heading out west. It's funny though Ab is starting to come here now to build up and manufacture things. There's a new plant coming into Melfort from Ab. Cheap labour here and the property to build is so much cheaper. I'm hoping to see more of this, it would sure help our economy. Hi Jordan, good to hear from ya. I can only imagine how busy you guys are down there now. Lots of new buildings coming up around Saskatoon now I see. I was down there today for a little while. It was raning and wet so we took off to PBR auctions this morning. Dad bought two 5 gal pails of paint. That's all that we got. That's to bad about the blonde, seesm like that stuff is a common problem out there. Everyones making lots of money and have nothing to spend it on. Glad to hear you got your new garage up now. It'll sure come in handy to work on everything. All you need now is heat and a hoist. That's to bad about your brother, hope he gets over it and heals up good. Just been busy in the field here the last little while, haven't had the sawmill going in a while now. Had my bike out for a few little rides. Nothing majour though, I haven't had time for that at all. Ryan

Yes I here ya Ryan ab showing up ....I hearing rumours that Sask has lot's of oil as much as Alberta or more ....wait and see I guess hope it's true then look out... but that what killing us is the price of gas, fuel etc..everything going up because of this...parts etc ... Well, it can stop raining any time now. Any more rain and I'm going to have to build a ark just to get back out to the equipment. :bash: :bash. I don't know when we'll get back in the fields to finish up. I didn't mind the first little bit but now we are over 2". Some places are pushing close to 6" by now I'm sure. Guess we wont be at the auction in Roblin at all Rick. If we get the chance we'll be seeding again.IF.... Lots of people say that Sk. has more oil especially up North in the tar sands. Bigest set back here is a guy by the Name of Laren Calvert. The leader of the NDP party. He's a preacher turned politician. Must not have been a very good preacher cause he sure lyes allot. Fuel is something that hurts everyone in some way. Just about everything that we use today is brought in by trucks. They have to put thier prices up to offset the price of fuel that in turn gets pased on threw the chain. I really do think that if fuel goes higher our economy will take a turn for the worse. The energy sector will love it up till the point till people start buying fuel then they'll start to cry too. Crystal Meth is becoming a very big problem around here too, that's some real nasty stuff from what I understand. I've got no interest of going anywhere near any of that stuff so you guys don't have to worry about me. :D Ryan

Hey guys the worst news possible when they went to put up my garage it was out of square so Im hooped. Now I got a cut the pad and add onto the back. Buddy couldn't believe he did it but he said he would pay to fix it since I paid him already. I told him I would pay for the half a meter of concrete since I gota still pour my drive way. I was pretty upset at the time but what do you do. Hes a good guy and it was an honest mistake. So now my garage is a little behind schedule. On the bright side I have decided to buy a quad. I think Im going to get a Yamaha blaster. Should be a fun little sporty quad. All my buddies are buying racing quads like raptors and banshees so I think I'll pick up a blaster. My buddy is saying a used 03 is going for about 1500 in alberta so hes going to keep his eye open up there for me. Well will talk to you later.

Hi Jordan, that really sucks about your garage. Hope you get er all fixed up so you can use it. Have you decided on what your going to use for heat yet? Or is that going to be a future project. Good to hear that yer buying a quad, are you giving up on your dirt bike? I'm looking at buying a quad this fall posibly. Either that or I'm going to buy another dirt bike except newer this time. I'll still keep my dirtbike and I think Im going to by a couple of those yamaha blasters. My garage pad is all preped now ready for more concrete. We also got the driveway all ready as well last night. Now we just have to tie the rebar but that will only take 15 mins so if it doesn't rain anymore I think will have to try and pour it today so those guys can get back out here and put up the garage. Im going with 1/4" exposed for my driveway. Well thats all I know for now and I'll keep you guys posted on how all the concrete is coming along.

yammerhammer7
05-31-2006, 02:18 PM
Well I had some luck after all. Poured my concrete last night and the rain stayed away. The concrete looks magnificant. I couldn't of hoped for a nicer finish on the exposed. Maybe tonight I'll take some pictures and post them so you guys can see what im doing. Well should get back to work so talk to you later.

Sounds like Monday or Tuesday they'll be coming out to put the rest of it up. Have a good day and will talk to you later. More pics! Yah this will sure help to clean up the yard. You can see in the one pic the grey concrete at the end thats how far out of square it was. Then theres the picture of the exposed concrete and thats going to be my driveway. The rest is just of the light broom finish and then the wall is in the background there. Have fun guys and will talk to you later.

Hi Rick, it did stop raining for a few days. We got enough time to get the rest of the crop in and wrap things up in the fields. The last 90 ac. we did were on our wetest field, and boy was it wet. I went in and harrowed it first before dad seeded it. The tires were slipping pretty well the whole time I was in there. Couple of spots I didn't know if I was going to make it threw to the other side. One spot I had to cross about a 40' run with water in it to get to the other side. I got threw but the mud flew for a little while. We made it threw the season without getting either of the tractors stuck though so I figure we done pretty good. Spent the last couple of days resting up a little and getting some things done around the yard. I started cutting the grass last night for the first time this year. Yes I know I'm a little behind. :D We don't have a riding mower any more and all I've got is mulching push mower. Still looks a lilttle rough but it's allot better then what it was. There's a few spots that I'm going to cut with our self propelled swather. Mulching mowers don't work very good in 2' grass. :( I'm not done the whole yard yet but I got a good start on it. It rained again a little here this morning so that'll have to wait for a while. By the time I get the rest of the yard done it'll be time to start over agian anyways. :( :bash: Hi Jordan, looks good. One question though, how come you went over it with the broom? Little extra traction or just for the appearance? Wont it be kind of hard to keep clean that way? Hope the rest of it goes up flawlasly for ya. Ryan

yammerhammer7
06-05-2006, 02:21 PM
Yepper we did it for traction. When the snow blows in on finished concrete it seems to slippery and your always falling. Then when antifreeze and stuff spills makes it crazy. Once you put a sealer on this its easy to clean. People think that its hard to sweep but its not. I really prefer it but not everyone does. They think its like a corn broom finish or something. Well gotta get back to work talk to you later.

Thanks Jordan. It's slightly older equipment but we look after it and it still gets the job done. Got any pictures of the new toy? Hi Rick,Thanks. We went over about 1200 ac. this spring. We could've been done in just a little over a week but that rain hit and bugered us up. Cost us a extra week of waiting. Crops are up nice now though and are looking good so far. Same thing here Rick. Sunny and hot today but suposed to rain tomorow. Only if I don't get stuck. It's one thing to get a quad stuck but it's no fun trying to pull out either one of those tractors. I know from experience. John Deeres only ever been stuck once and it was me that did it. I cut to wide on a corner while swathing and ended up in a mud hole. I didn't want to miss the little bit on the corner but would've been much better off if I had. That was a real wet fall though so I've got a good excuse. :D The crop takes priority over pretty much everything else around here. Including ourselves too. Put in some pretty long days this spring. We're getting caught up on everything now though. We went down this afternoon and put in another culvert at the sawmill. Went threw first with the V ditcher but that didn't get it down deep enough so I went in with the skidder and did some more digging. I finished it off with the skidsteer. I'm still not done sloping everything yet but it's getting there. Ryan

Hi Rick, we could've gone over a few more without much trouble but we've decided for now to stay smaller and wait and see what happens this fall. Some guys have nothing to lose and are going all out. We've got to much to lose to start playing those games. Plus I don't like to owe that much money. Crops are doing good but they need to be sprayed real quick. The weeds really came with that rain and heat that we got. But now it's raining again here so we have to wait. There's been a few machines wrecked doing that this year I'm sure. Ryan

We need some rain for the crops they are coming along real good I've been all over looking at them in my travels... I remember a number of years ago we had a real wet fall at harvest time and everything was stuck & they had cat's out pulling them tractors & combines out and it was not to good what happened... Hi Rick, we've got enough moisture now to probably do us threw till the middle of July. Unless it gets real hot out. Water is running in places like it was back in the spring. We've had 1.5" now this last go around again. Combines are the worst things to get stuck I think. There's nothing to hook onto on the back end. Ryan

She's soaked up real good here now. The water was starting to run again into the creeks and all over. Slews are just about full again now. Haven't seen the aucition flyer yet at all, might have to check it out. Farm progress show is on next week in Regina so we might go to that and see what's there. Lots of equipment to see some older stuff too. Looks like a first class boat there. Ryan

Might go into Saskatoon Tomorow again. There's a big CNC Milling machine there we might pick up and hall home. We have to take the Semi to get it though it's to big to haul with the ol doge and the goose neck. Ryan

Hi Rick, might not be picking it up after all. Got the specks off of it today and we don't know if our gen set will handle it. It's actually a machine that my brother has spent quit a few hours on so he knows it inside and out. Literally. He's had it apart and fixed it up before. Thier $300,000 cnc lathe got smashed up a few weeks ago. A guy started up the machine and fed the tooling straight into the chuck. It tore the jig wright off and bugered up a bunch of stuff. He was the one that got that job too, took 3 weeks to get it back to what it was before. After he got it fixed up it was out 60 thousands of a ". Finally got it back down to within reason now though. Had some rain last night and and the day before yesterday we had rain. Managed to spray yesterday and this afternoon. We've got 70 or so ac. of wheat left and we'll be all done. It looks like rain out now though so we shut er down for the day. Had a real hard time spraying yesterday. We'd had a 1" of rain the day before and everything was all muddy when I went out there. I just about got stuck going up a hill. That's how bad it was. Managed to get stuck 4 times yesterday. I got threw today without getting stuck once though. Went threw some pretty wet spots too. :D If we get it I'll make sure to get you a few pictures for hap. There's one picture on thier website of it but it's not a real good one. I'll email you a link to it. Ryan

Hi Rick, I think we're going down for it Sunday. My Brother my dad and I are going to go in Sunday afternoon and get it ready to move. It's still in production right now. There's a bunch of splash shields and things like that to take off. We're going in tomorow to pick up a low boy to haul it. We could haul it on our high boy but it would be geting up in the air pretty high. It's a good 10' tall and 9' wide. Going to take lots of pictures before we take it apart. That way I've got something to go by when we go to put it back together. That probably wont be untill fall though. My other brother is a electrician so he's going to come and wire it up for us. Managed to get a couple of days with some sun shine. We got poured down on yesterday though. We weren't home but you could tell just by looking at the ground. Spent the day at the auction yesterday. Met up with Red Tracks and talked with him for a while. They got 8" of rain Tuesday night. He said it's a complete right off down there now. That's only about 40 miles away as the crow flies. Little to close for comfort. We've got another 80 or so ac. of wheat to do yet and we're all done spraying. There's no real big hurry with it, it's the last we seeded and it wouldn't hurt it to let it grow a little. Ryan

Well, I'll try and get a few pictures on here for ya tonight Rick. Can't seem to get into the house before 10:00 lately. Cut all the grass today again. It's turned into a once a week thing now with all of this heat. Used to cut it 2 or maybe 3 times a month. Stuffs sure growing now. Here's a picture of the milling machine before everything was stripped off of it. [attachmentid=28481] Here's one of me and my brother steering it out. I'm on the left my brother is the other one in coveralls steering it. [attachmentid=28482] Here's one of me unloading it with the Volvo. I had a awful hard time geting it to lift it. It's teribly heavy that machine. I had to get a little creative when I was lifting it to get it to lift it up. I couldn't lift it straight up with the lift cylenders, I had to use the tilt cylender to bring it up enough to clear the trailer. When I got it off I was toped out on the lift cylenders and just barely cleared the trailer. Little scarey moving it around. When I turned the back end of the Volvo it just kind of slid threw the air. [attachmentid=28483] Got a few more but nothing extra special. Time to go to bed again anyways. Ryan

Hi Rick, could be a bad storm headed your way. It went threw this afternoon headed soth east. We were just on the edge of it here. Luckily we didn't get any hail or anything. There was a chance for it though. The way the heat has been the last few days it wouldn't have surprised me. It was up to 31 C today again. Suposed to cool off a little the rest of the week though. Highs of around 25-27. That should be allright. Just got to get it all set up and learn how to use it now. That's going to be the hard part. Sure am looking forward to getting it going though. We might have to build a new shop for it though. maybe I can get my shop built quicker then I thought. The semi is ours, it's a 9370 International. It's a 1987 with 830,000 kms on it. We've owned it since 1992. It's still a really good truck. 3406 B Cat engine in it. Here's a picture that I took of my Canola crop the other day when I was out there. It was taken from the road along my crop. [attachmentid=28489] Ryan

Hi Rick, haven't had time to post on here the last few days. Hauled some of my grain out yesterday finally, got another load to go out this morning. Got one awful job coming up though with the rest. There's 2 bins with barly in them and they are both flat bottom bins. Got to shovel the last 500 bu out of both of them. Not a fun job by any means It's getting dry here now again. Even after all of that rain that we had it's starting to dry out on top again. It's been teribly hot with some real hot winds on a few days. That's what has really sucked the moisture up. Forest fires are real bad up North, the closest one to me is about 80 miles North of me on the Hansen Lake Road. It's some where around Lower Fishing Lake. I can't remember if you were that far South on that road or not when you guys were up there building it up. That's about 1.5 hrs South of Jan Lake. Here's a link to the current wild fire acctivity page. greater then 100 ha.Sask Enviroment (http://www.se.gov.sk.ca/fire/CurrentWildfireActivity.asp?what=ActiveFires) Trying to figure out where we can posibly build a new shop for this thing now. The one spot that is level and open is right next to the road and I dont' really like that the other spot that I had in mind all the water from the road runs down past it so that's not really any good either. We'll get something figured out I guess. Ended up working pretty well steady threw the weekend, Sunday we took off in the afternoon and went for a drive. Didn't go verry far but it was still okay to get out for a little bit. Ryan

I can remeber that fire that your talking about I think. Nothing but sticks left afterwards. You could see for miles from up on top of the hill on the hwy. Sounds like Joeys got a couple some where around him up there too. I imagine he's in a bad spot for fires. It was good to get away for a little while and just relax. We need to take a whole day off though and go for a trip to the lake or something. We haven't had the Sea Doo out in 2 years now. Never take the time to use it at all. Ryan

Rick K
07-09-2006, 11:28 AM
Yes there was only sticks left...yes Joey should be ok he has some huge fire guards around him he is in a unique place.....plus he has the dozer power to build a bigger guard if needed.... Boy I remember just a few years ago I was fighting fire with a D-5-H LGP and I got in to close or the fire got to close to me like right beside me...the bird dog seen this a sent a plane with some kind of fire stuff and laid it right on top of me the fire was out and I got out...I had a few close calls over the years but I always like to take it to the edge... :D Yes I've started building a park like setting in the yard boy I'm getting old EH...HA HA I'm taking my time just like I'm getting old...put a burn pit, with bricks and with some blasts rock on the outside of the bricks the stuff they use on the rail line Garnett rock clean....bought a park bench put it under the trees ...I will take my time doing this.....going to haul some big rocks home from the Quarry too...I have to much time on my hands after work... :D Rick

Hi Rick, here's what I was up to yesterday afternoon. [attachmentid=28535] Yup we finally got the sea doo out. It worked real good, never missed a beat. That was the best picture that mom took of me. She didn't take any of me out playing in the bay at all, I was out right at the end having a little fun on it. :D Those forest fires are scarey things boy, we lost just about all of our logs to a forest fire one time. Either the helicopter or a bomber droped someting on them though becuae they save the 3rd pile for us. We had 3 piles all in a row going east and west. The first pile furthest to the east it burnt completely the second it only burt half of it and the third it never touched. We were up there last summer and the burnt logs are still there in a pile. And it burt about 10 years ago now. Sounds like your getting pretty fancy out ther Rick. :D Should be okay to have though sit around the fire and drink a few pops. :D Ryan

Hi Rick, yes it's allot of fun. I've always had a bit of a fear of water though so that takes a little bit of the fun out of it. We still had to pay the bill for the logs too. They never compensated us in any way for it either. Dogs really are great to have around. They're great company if nothing else. Our dog that was real special to all of the family pased away a year ago december. She was a excellent pet. She lived on the farm but was basically a house dog. For the last 8 or 10 years that we had her I don't think she ever spent a night outside when we were home. We got a new dog last Nov. We didn't actually pick it, it more or less picked us. He strayed in at that time and has never left. He's mostly border collie. A little stupid but still a happy face to meet you when you come home. I got a kick out of him today. Mom was up picking rasbarys and Mutsky(that's what he got named) was in there with her. All of a sudden she could here him chomping away on something. She looked back and here he was picking the rasbarys off of the bush and eating them. It's nice to have that time to relax after a days work I would think. Ryan

Yes you have to respect water Ryan that's for sure....I lived in the water when I was a kid I come from Thunder Bay we live at the lake till we moved to Winnipeg....when I was 12 I swam across loon lake it was only a mile most kids did it when they hit that age then when they hit 16 they would swim around it and it was 9 miles... that sucks..about the logs... I was just looking at pictures of the Dutch what a bow wow....Claudette and myself are thinking pretty hard about it... here is one of my favourite ones Ryan, Claudette always said try to keep Dutch out of the trailer when we lived in it...well Michael & myself listen very well as you can see...ha ha [attachmentid=28593] Yes Ryan that's a good one.... you will find out one day it took me many years to figure it out...ha ha joke... Hi Rick, it says that the file is 34.8 mb and is going to take 3 hours to open. I went tubing with my brother one time at a small lake and of course I fell out of the tube. There was no way that I could get back into the tube and they had one helluva time getting me into the boat. When I hit the water I started to paninc. Then when I tried to get into the boat my life jacket started to slip off. That just made matters worse for me. Just about tipped the boat too, 3 fairly big guys all with their weight on one side of the boat don't work to good. Would love to see the picture if you could resize it Rick. I can't swim 50' letalone across the lake. :D Ryan

Hi Rick, even if you right clicked it and clicked save as. Then select JPEG, that would help it allot. You may want to make a extra copy of the picture if you don't want to alter the origianl. That would bring it down in size some. Seems awful strange for it to be that big though. Me and my brother look back on it and have a little laugh once in a while. It was my brother in law that just about caused the boat to tip. Needless to say though I haven't been back out on a tube since. Gona try and get up to my brothers cabin with the sea doo in the next week or so. He's at the lake for 2 weeks. Maybe I'll venture back in the water with my nephews and nieces. Ryan

Hi Rick, that works for me. Even the other one said it was going to take a hour to bring up. That picture reminds me allot of our german shepard Tisha. She used to come in the hosue all the time and crawl up on the couch and sleep. We'd leave her in the house when we went some where and when we came back she'd be sprawled out on mom and dads bed sleeping away. I think there are water proof dig. cameras. Been hauling logs out the last week now too on top of everything else. Still have another 6 semi loads to go. I've got to get everything ready to go for harvest in the next couple of weeks too. Ryan

Hi Rick, she was one spoiled puppy dog that's for sure. Just typed it in on ebay just for the heck of it. This is all that came up, I don't know how water proof it is but they say it is. I think there are other ones out there though as well. Here's a link.Camera (http://cgi.ebay.com/OLYMPUS-Stylus-720-Shock-Water-Proof-Camera-Warranty_W0QQitemZ250013878550QQihZ015QQcategoryZ30016QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) They say it's good up to 10' for up to 1hr. The logs are for the sawmill yes, they're the ones that I posted pictures of last winter if you remember. Personally I think the pulp mill is done. Weyerhauser has the wood tied up for the next couple of years because of the agreement that they have with the gov. There wont be anything hapening for quit a while anyways. I saw one field of wheat today that was just about ready to combine but that's no where near the ordinary around here. Usually it's at the end of august before we start to think about combining. Ryan

Rick K
08-06-2006, 08:26 AM
Wow Ryan that's not bad eh they sure are coming down in price I did not know for sure if they made one but my question is answered thank you I should get one...... That sucks Weyhauser closing down but big companies just don't give a dam for the little guy eh....I here it's tuff to compete with the places that reproduce a tree in 10 years and it takes us 40 to reproduce.....tuff business yes we are way ahead here too guys are going hard here but we needed that rain over a month ago they say the crops look unreal here but they are not full if that makes any cents to you... Rick

08-07-2006, 10:12 PM
Those cameras have really droped in price now over the last couple of years. I was looking on ebay at used ones and I might pick up a 2nd camera cheap just to take it with me on my bike or what ever. If it breaks I wouldn't feel so bad then at all. Believe it or not there's allot of people that are happy that the mill is shut down. Mostly forest operators. We're still hoping that it's going to eventually free up some good saw logs for us. That would be because of the lack of rain. Without the rain when it's filling it can't fill the seed all the way. It matures and looks good but can me only half the size that it should be. Ryan

Rick K
08-12-2006, 07:35 AM
Ryan that is a good idea I would not mind doing that too. Yes I makes one think a little about what one does....for a living eh you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket that's for sure.....that would be good for you guys to get a better pick of the timber eh.....I had lunch with Glen the other day we still are close, but he just picked up 10 to 15 km of road for the logging company I did the road for... who knows what one will be doing this fall training, organizing, operating or supervising jobs time will tell.... yes Ryan they are going great guns here taking the crop off it's about the same here too...look great but.... Started swathing a couple of days ago now. Haven't done a whole lot yet, it isn't really ready to go yet. The oats are ready to come down but the canola is a little ways away yet. Some guys are having to spray again now for army worms. Dads is okay because it's mature enough but mine is still greeen enough that I have to keep a eye on it. Same here Rick, I don't have a clue yet as to what I'll be doing this winter. If things slow down here I might just take off for the winter. Make a few extra bucks to spend. If the weather stays hot we could posibly be combining as early as sunday. If it clouds over and rains some more though it's anybodys guess as to when we'll get going wit the combine. I've still got some fixing to do on it so I'm in no big panick yet to get going. I've been meaing to ask you if you bothered to pick up any stones tickets. From what I hear they're sold out completely now. There's 2 concerts now in Regina in case you hadn't heard. Lots of tickets on ebay but they're pretty costly. Ryan

It's sure wet out here now again. We had a awful wind go threw today too. We had one old bin that we moved up into the yard that we were going to use for grain storage again. It had been rolled over before. I don't know if you remember or not but it's the one that I pulled out of the slew a year ago this fall with the skidder. Still a fair bit of crop left out on the country side here yet. Some of the people I don't feel verry sorry for though. They couldn't handle what they had last year and they tried to take on more this year. Doesn't make much since. Funny part is, they are further behind this year then last year. Last year was a terible harvest this year it was a really good run when we got at it. They just got started right at the end of the good weather. When those big combines get rolling it don't take long to clean off a quarter section. Clouded over here again and raining a little bit again. Here we go again I guess. :( Ryan

Hi Rick, you weren't kiding. I was thinking along the lines of D7G D8K. That's a old TD 18 or am I way out to lunch? Good to hear that you got a good bunch of guys to work with. It would sure make it allot easier I bet. That sure is one big ol lake. Is that the one that's so shallow? You can't beat a good fish fry. Ryan

Kind of figured that's what it was what with the dual exhaust into one setup. They do look good though. I don't think that I've ever been up there at all. Never been around those parts before. At least not that I can remember. I've got a track hoe question for ya Rick. Have you ever run a Hitachi EX 200 or J.D. 200 lc? This is in the verry early planning stages yet but Me and Dad are looking at buying a hitachi track hoe with a processing head on it for cutting saw logs. It's one of the ones that cuts the tree down limbs it and then cuts it into lengh. Like I say it's still in the verry early stages yet but it's something that we're considering. They've got the cylenders and all the pins to make it back into a track hoe so that would be nice too. Lots of times around here where I could use a track hoe. The one we looked at I believe was a ex 200 which I think is the same as the 200 lc J.D. I might be wrong though as I don't know much about track hoes. The cariers them seleves seem to be in pretty good shape, they've seen lots of use but it's not like they were moving all the time. They had the wood all decked in the mill yard and they just moved along the rows and cut. They've all got a little over 10,000 hrs on them. The guy that owns them isn't done with them yet but he said once he's all done his cut they'll all be for sale and they'll be cheap. I don't know what he considers cheap though. Ryan

Hi Ryan yes them Hitachi Hoes are a real great hoe. The John Deere Hoe is a Hitachi only two thing the colour of the paint and the Deere you can get them with a Deere engine in them or the Isuzu engine.....Hitachi makes Deere. The under carriage would be different on the forest to the ditching hoe the forest under carriage is tuff then the ditching hoe. I would talk to sawmill he has forgot more then most people will ever know ans say hi to him for me Ryan. Rick

Hi Rick, thanks for the advice, these track hoes are actually dirt machinese made into forestry machines so they've still got what I'd call street pads on them. No growsers at all. And just standard duty u/c I'll make sure to say hi to sawmill for ya. I haven't actually talked to him for a while either. Ryan

Hey guys havn't talked to you in a while. Last saturday we went out quading and my two buddies from Llyod brought out there new 450f and 700 raptor. That raptor has too much power. No theres no such thing as too much. What a bunch of nice machines though. I'm just working right now on fixing up my old exciter. My buddys like you can do anything you want to your sled and you still won't beat me cause its old technology. So were going to race for pinks this winter. I have 87 exciter he has 96 zr 600. Im wondering if he has heard of the 650 genesis big bore kit. Hahaha. I have already bought one off ebay. It cost me alot so should pay for itself when I sell him back his sled. Hahahaha. Psi performance pots with reeds and then im going to shave the head a little and put on another set of pipes. I'll keep you guys informed with my progress have a good one.

Sounds like you spending lots of time on your ol exciter Rick, sawmill said to say hi and that he was sorry that you had to work with some old td18s. :D :D He's trying to point me in another direction though so I'll see what happens. Hi Rick, more big news in the sk. forest industry today. Weyerhauser just anounced this morning that thier last two mills will be shut down jan. 3rd indefinitly. So it's really up in the air now as to wether or not I'll be buying a processor. I'd still like to but I don't know if I'll have sale for the wood or not. There'll only be one mill left in the area that is big and they'll probably have they're pick of the wood as to what they want to buy and how much they're going to pay. My only other hope was fence posts. That's still going strong for know. I'll see if I can round up a picture for ya of the machine I'm looking at. I don't have one of the actual machine but there should be one out there on the internet. Jordan, I think my brother went to that one. Not sure if it's the same thing or not but he was at one on Friday night. He came out here to the farm on Sat though. Ryan

Hey Ryan, yah probably was the same one. There was hotties there from wall to wall. I wish they had a caberee every night. Wish you guys could have joined would have been a blast. Boy would that ever be sweet. Well if you guys are ever up in this neck of the woods this winter will have to go for a sled ride. Were still really busy here working 16hr days but what do you do? I just hope I can pay off some loans and stuff real soon so that I can buy some toys in the near future. I guess I should get back to work so have a good one.

Hi Jordan, the extra money is nice though I bet. I had heard that things were just crazzy around there. No one can keep up to the work that's going on. We were talking to the manager at brandt tractor and they need some work done in the back yard. They can't even get a contractor to come in and redo the top surface. He said it was about a 100,000 $ job but no one had time to do it. Still hoping to get some spin off benifets because of the closures but who knows what's going to happen. There is nothing else left around those cumunitys for the people who lost thier jobs so they'll have to head somewhere else. More then likely Ab. Ryan

Yah it's just super busy around here. Sounds like it will be this way for the next two years as well and no signs of slowing down. Maybe I'll be able to fix up my dumpy little house. Been thinking about buying some newer toys so the money is finally starting to show now. I would really like to pick up a 04 Dakota but Ive also been thinking about a newer sled. Just don't know what to do. But then again maybe I should pay off my garage instead of paying those high interest rates. Oh well Im sure I'll figure it out. I just got a call from UPS this afternoon and they told me my shipment was just crossing into Manitoba. So I should be able to get it tomorrow hopefully. I called UPS and they had told me that there might not be pistons available for it any more. So know I have to find some from wiseco or someone and I'll probably have to cut the skirts down to the proper size. Oh well. Well have a good one guys and will talk to you later.

Well we're still not done combining yet. We got off dads wheat but we couldn't get my flax. We tried it last friday but it just wouldn't go. The straw was still to wet. I combined a few hundred feet and pluged it up. Spent a hour getting it all cleaned out then dad hoped on to try it. He pluged it up too. So we gave up and came home. I'm hoping that I can get it yet this fall but I am a little doubtfull. We had another 1 3/4" of rain over the weekend so it's not looking good. It is frezze drying some but I don't know if it will be enough or not. Ryan

Wow Rick, pretty fancy place there. Hot tubs and all. Would be a pretty nice way to end a hard day of sleding. Jump in the hot tub and just relax. Tried the flax again today and it did go threw for a while but as soon as the clound bank that was coming up in the west hit we had to quit. As soon as the sun went away and the humidity started to come up the flax wraped in the combine. I cleaned out the one part in front but there 3 more that got wraped with flax so we just came home again. Ryan

Whit spruce and blue spruce sure dress up a yard nice. Only problem is you have to wait 20-30 years before you get any results from them. We were going to plant some willows along our yard again where they brushcut when they built the road but so far we haven't gotten there yet. It's pretty open by our shop now from the north. Went to a auction sale today. Didn't buy anything but spent the day bs with people that we knew. Talked with red track from r.p. most of the day. It sure was a cold day though. I was walking back to the truck and I cuold hardly move when I got there. I just got so stiff from the cold. Ryan

Hey guys hows it going? Don't know if you heard but the big four dealers are going to be showing off there new toys at the exhibition grounds this weekend. Should be a good time and see what new stuff is on the market. Had a look at the crossfire 1000 and boy is that ever a nice sled. The F series for arctic cat sure took a kick in the face. This is about 25 years growth. These trees were planted a few years before I was born. [attachmentid=30344] This picture was taken last summer when I was putting in a culvert at the sawmill. We dug it out with the skidder and rolled in a old culvert then I filled and leveled it out with the skidder again. That sounds like the day of the auction and a few days around it too. That humidity makes it feel allot worse then it actually is. Ryan

11-07-2006, 08:08 PM
Well, I think my flax will be out till next year now. Ended up with about 2" of snow last night with some frezzeing rain. Roads are all ice and everything looks white now. So I figured what the heck. It's snowing I might as well get the sled ready to go. I checked it all over and discovered that the one boot on one of the carbs had shook itself off so I fixed that up and then fired it up. I had to get it off of the trailer anyways. Figured while I had it runing I may as well take it for a little rip up and down the hill a couple of times. So I've got a new mileage report for this winter now. It's a whole 2kms. Here's a picture that I took. I just washed it up and it was getting dark so it aint the best but here's proof that I was out. :D [attachmentid=30419] Going to start cleaning out the shop now. We're going to move the milling machine in this weekend I think. Did you get that email I sent you Rick? Ryan

Yup it's not something you can get in a hurry with that's for sure. It comes in handy from time to time that's for sure. I used it to get the slews runinng this fall. It's a little muddy yet from it though. Got to get it washed up again one day. It felt pretty good to get out again. Did ya notice my new km total. :lmao: Still not enough snow to really get out and go but it's getting closer. Got about 4-6" now on the ground. Still have to get some 3 phase panels before we can get it hooked up but it's getting closer. I'll have to try and send it again. I'm still kind of looking for a sled trailer/quad trailer. If I buy a quad I need a trailer to haul them around. Can't fit two quads in the truck box verry well. Ryan

It was only 2km when I posted that but I've managed to get up to a whoping 5km now. Still on last years last gallon of gas so I can't go to far. Might end up walking home. We were suposed to get some snow today but so far nothing. It was actually raining here a little bit ago. Might still be for all I know. Haven't been outside now for a little bit. 24*F and it's raining out. Figure that one out. Joeys got quit abit now from what I hear. We're going to find some used stuff to get it hooked up. We really good friends with a journeyman electrician so it wont be to bad I hope. Free labour so that helps allot. We didn't get it in though. We got looking at it and did some measuring and it was going to take up to much space in the shop so we said to heck with it for now. Now there's talk of a new shop. I have to kick in some money on it though so it's still up in the air. Might try and buy a trailer tomorow if we go to the auction. Ryan

Sounds like I better get some snow quick if I want to keep up to ya at all. :D You'll have my km total beat in the first minute with snow like that. How's the ice up there now? I guess a guy can expect anything around these parts. No luck with the trailer. We drove up therw the bush and found some birch to cut next year for firewood maybe. Went back on some trails that we'd never been on before. Sure was nice back in there. I was wishing I had the yamaha there. There was enough snow that I could have gone ahead of the truck. I didn't have my camera with though so no pictures for you. I figured it out last night what it would cost just for the tin on the new shop that I'd like to build, and just the tin alone is a little over 3,000 bucks. I'ld like to build the shop around 42'x60'. Somewhere in that range. No shorter then 60' though. I want to be able to pull the semi in with the log trailer on behind. We've got the lumber to build it but the cement is the biggest problem. It would cost 5-10,000 just for the cement. Ryan

Suposed to get another couple of inches of snow today but I'll believe it when I see it. So far it's just rain. He's right on the lumber, it usually comes down this time of the year. Last year though it's been down all the way threw. At the big mills anyways. That's why they're not making any money right now. I don't know what lumber has been doing at the lumber yards. I should check some time just to see. Ryan

Hey guys hows it been going? Its been pretty busy here still. Looks like after this week I might finally catch up. Wouldn't that be a nice relief. Played some broomball this weekend and boy didn't realize how out of shape I was. Got a stick broken over my shins then I got a stick in the face right after that. Bled everywhere but what do you do. I pulled my sleds out of the garage this weekend Im going to take the seats in to get recovered and then im going to get the clutch fixed on the vmax. After that Im going to put the big bore kit into the exciter and finish clutching it up. I can't wait to see what that sled is going to do? I don't have any pics cause I broke my digi this summer when my sis dropped it in the water. But I got another one I just don't have the cable to download them onto the computer. You guys have got more snow then us from what I hear. That sucks about your digital camera. have you looked on ebay for a cord for it? Might be as good as place as any to get one. Sounds like you should be getting some snow Rick this systom is suposed to be headed your way from the sounds of it. So good luck hope you get snowed in. :D I'm taking a guess that you mean the outside of the toy house right? If it were me I'd build the frame and then strap the outside with 1x6 or 1x4 and put tin up on it. Goes up fast that way and looks pretty good. If you were going to do the whole out side with 1" lumber it would start to count up. Ryan

Hey Ryan actually that game we lost. We made it to the finals but we played right before that and our team was beat. We lost 5-1 but got silver for the rec tourney so it was alright. There is lots of snow here then we got some more yesterday. I would say we got over a foot but its suppose to get up to plus 5 tomorrow. To bad about the loss, sounds like you still came out allright though. I've got to take the seat off the yamaha and get one seam restiched. It let go last winter and I haven't gottne around to fixen it yet. It's not a big deal but I want to get it fixed before it spreads. Took my dirt bike out for a spin today. Went out playing in the snow drifts. The little bugger did pretty good I figured. I climbed right up threw the drifts no problem. I might go back out again this afternoon and take a couple of picturees. Maybe I can talk some one in to coming with me to take a few pictures. Hope you get to go out for a ride, not enogh snow here yet to really go. I've been out just a little bit. If I could find a track for my old ski roule though I would've put on a few miles all ready. Or are you south of the border? Managed to talk mom into riding out with me on my dirt bike to snap a few pictures. I wanted to go earlier when the sun was out better but we ended up down at the sawmill pilling lumber so I had to go latter. It had clouded over by then though. Still got a few pictures though so here ya go. No motocross gear here. Had my big work coat on and my John Deere toque that I've had since I was about 8. It was about 40*F(+4*C) out when I was on my bike. [attachmentid=30853] [attachmentid=30854] [attachmentid=30855] Ryan

I haven't even got enough left to send Rick. :( It's getting lower by the day. They're taking about +5*C for one day coming up again. If that happens there wont be much snow left at all. :bash: I even managed to get a little rooster tail of snow going. :D Mom didn't get quit the shots that I wanted but that's okay. Without her I wouldn't of had any of them. I don't think that I've ever played broom ball. Played la crosse floor hockey and all that other stuff when I was in school but never broom ball. Any sign of that new phazzer yet? Ryan

I'm going to try something and have no idea if it's going to work or not. I'm going to try to attach a video that mom took. It' s only a couple of seconds long but it's the best one that she took. Here goes [attachmentid=30869] You will have to have quick time to open it. Ryan

Maybe you'll get some in time to try out the new phazzer. I'm curious to see what you think of it. Well hopefully you're not putting it on too soon. Maybe you'll get two feet of snow next weekend. Then you can put some miles on it again pushing snow. Of course :D I hear ya on the getting old part. Was at my sisters 40th birthday party last night and ended up staying latter then we had planed. Ended up getting home at about 1:30 am. We were all pretty tired today. The kids that were runnig around just went non stop though. It was unreal. They never did play out. I don't know what they were like today but they were sure running aorund last night. Did that video work for you Rick? I'll keep an eye out for it, for you Rick. :D :D Ryan

Suposed to get some snow here tomorow by the sounds of it. I'm not getting my hopes up though. They're only talking of about 4". It would be enough to get me going but I'm a little doubtfull that we'll get much. I did however go out for a little rip tonight. Put on about 12 km. I spyed a snow drift that I decieded I was going to play in. It had drifted off of a summer follow field so there wasn't anything to hold the snow on the filed. It was only 3/8 of a mile long though so I had to make a couple of passes. Went out along some of the fence lines too. I managed to get to open it up a little again. Had it up to about 115 km/h but come up to a v ditch so had to get on the brakes again. I knew it was there though so it was no big deal as far as slowing down again. Did some more checking on the yamaha today and found out that one of the bolts on the bottom of the manifold has vibrated loose. So now I've got to take one out for a sample and see if I can get one the right size and length. Hopefully the one I take out for a sample isn't burnt in. It shouldn't be but who knows. Cleaned out the rollers on the clutch to a little. Took some brake clean and sprayed it all down. Then I blew it all out with compressed air. It actually seemed to shift a little nicer after I cleaned it out some. It wasn't that dirty but the rollers were sticking a little bit. As far as I know it's not that big of a deal, my brother has that one on his bike he puts it on himself before winter then takes it off again in the spring. Been looking at new tires for dad's quad. The original ones are still on the bike and the bike just turned over 14,000 kms the other day. Did you try to open it after you downloade it? I haven't tried it but assume that you have to download it first and then open it with quick time. Ryan

Hi Rick, we got around 2-3" last night. They're talking abaout a chance of snow for the weekend but not verry much. I did go out for a little longer ride today though just to see what the fields are like. There's enough that a guy can go riding but it's far from good conditions. There's only about 4" of snow in the fields. There's more in places but on average that's what I'd say is out there. The rest all blew away in the awful winds that we've had the last couple of days. There's a real hard crust under the fresh snow though so it's not like your riding on dirt all the time. You'll catch up and pass me real soon I bet. Wont take long either. :D Took one bolt out today and it came out easy. Might go into P.A. tomorow so I'll take it with me if we go. Hopefully some one has one. Good idea on the lock tight. I think we've got some semi permanent stuff kicking around that should work good for that. We've had the quad since new, we bought it new in the fall of 96. It just turned over 14,000 the other day. No majour repairs but it does need some work this winter now. It's burning oil and the ball joints are a little loose on it. We've been just looking around at dealers. Shipping tires gets so expensive that I don't know if it would pay to buy it on ebay or not. I'll probably look into it though anyways. Funny it wont work. It wasn't much to see anyways. Don't know of anyone off hand that is looking for work real bad but I'll keep it in mind if I hear of some one. Lots of people around here too are having troubles finding workers. The good ones have allready gone and the bad ones well who needs them. It sounded like that was a pretty good job for you last winter. Close to home good pay. Big shiny new toys to play with. :D Ryan

Ok Ryan enough is enough no more rubbing it in what do you want me to do we do not have enough snow ha ha....I hope to riding by Dec 15 that's the goal if not I will be heading north for a weekend Thompson....they have lot's... Yes it is not to far you get to meet new student make some new buddies too....it's funny how it works but I have guys that we talk back & forth on the phone...e-mial jokes too.. I have gotten a number of them jobs too...so you do feel good helping people out...that's what it is about in my eyes...helping people..we have some big ideas for training in the future...we have a D-7-H & D-6-H with a 621 buggy to do the 2 week assessment on them before we start the course..this will be the 3 rd time we have used Glen's Equipment...who keeps on bugging me to go on winter roads with him... I'm thinking of buying a new toy shed (garage) it should be 20 x 24 Claudette new car there won't be enough room to put the RX 1 Phazer FX & the Grizzly with the blade on it with my truck...I have the Lawnmower in the little shed out side with the deck off to get it in the shed...Claudette said why so big then I told her look honey you have to have vision look into the future if you know what I mean.... I see a new 700 Grizzly in the future 2 quads 2 sleds etc get the picture yes she says... Keep your eyes & ears open Ryan if you know of anyone please let me know for work we need help the dam has started the road work and they will be calling soon too.. they say the floodway is the biggest dirt job in North America right now... Looks like a pretty tight fight. Can ya fit something in between your truck and Claudette's car? Sorry to hear your mom is having troubles again. She'll be home in no time though I bet. :) Like you said got to stay positive. It's sure spoty this year. Some places have lots and others have nothing. Not even a snow flake. Talked with the neibours today and they said that moose jaw hasn't even got a snow flake. There was a guy out combining last week. I've been after dad to buy a new one but the money just aint there right now. To many other bills that have to come first. I'm still hoping to have a new one. Will have to wait and see I guess. I'm thinking that the teaching buisness has got the winter roads all beat to heck. Becha you never thought you'd be a school teacher when you were twenty. :D That sure is a big job that they've got going on out there. I wouldn't mind to go out there some time and take a look at it. Maybe next spring if I come out to buy a quad. Dad said that if I want to go out there we'll go on a little vacation at the same time. If your around we'd probably stop in and say hi if nothing else. I figured you'd have a new apex before a new grizzly. I haven't seen any yet. Any big changes in looks? So is Claudette going to take over the old one on ya? Ryan

Sorry to hear about your mom Rick hope she gets better soon. Yah all of our snow melted here. Well not all but most of it. But there saying were suppose to get 22cm over the next two days thats like 9". I sure hope there right for once. This Thursday we went to the Long Branch and this chick came up and started talking to us. Good looking one to, I must add. Then she asked what we do for fun and I told her we like sledding and stuff and then shes like me to. She has a brand new 07 m10 with noss. She just got back from sledding in Colorado or somewhere in the mountains and now in a week shes heading to Revelstoke. She from the Yorkton area and her dad is a huge farmer out there. Shes going to law school as well. Jeeze what more can you ask for. This is a fish that I think Im going to have to land cause it would be catch of the year nope century. Then my ex Megan phoned me and said she wants to come up and go sledding as well. It seems like as soon as the snow flys theres women everywhere that want to ride. Did I mention how much I like it. Then theres this one named Holly. Yah she wants to go riding cause her ex took all the sleds with him. So shes been bugging me to and shes good looking. Things are looking good boys. But thats what I've been working on lately. K I have a dilema here. One of the truckers dumped there pregnant girl friend. Shes a super nice chick and stops by work all the time. I don't wanna get involved cause of the kid thing and all but shes seems to be really down and wants to hang out all the time. She really wants me and I dont know how to tell her right now cause shes in a very emotional state. What should I do? I need help on this one. Thanks guys will be waiting to here back on this one.

Hey there I talked to that chick for a long time last night. She was pretty down again. It's such a messed up situation I feel for her. I couldn't imagine going through what she has to. Well just letting you guys know we got atleast half a foot of snow. Could even be more. It was drifted up like two feet infront of the house so it was hard to tell. Got my vmax loaded up in the back of my truck going to head to rec supply pick up some wear bars and slidders. Then going to take it to my buddies shop in Asquith and put in my clutch rebuild kit. Then I have to get the seat redone on the two of them and Im good to go. So Im think next year Im going to buy a new sled if I can pay off my garage. Im thinking a 02 700 mountain max or a crossfire or m7 cat. What do you guys think? Well I should get back to work. Talk to you later.

Well, we've got snow now. Got about 8 or 9 inches now in the last couple of days. Was out yesterday for a nice little ride and it's good now. Picked up 8 qts of injection oil today and got some more gas so hopefully I can start to put on a few miles again in the next little bit. Your weren't a bad kid were you?? :D :D I looked at a 700 grizzly today and sorta liked what I saw, who knows there could be a change of plans again. There's a new dealer that just started up so I think I can make a pretty good deal with them. Going to price one out one day and see what they can do for me. The real nice part is the dealer is on my back door step pretty much. Jordan, like Rick said be a friend to her. We all need someone to talk to once in a while. Do you really need a long track Jordan? I don't think they make the best trail sleds. If your going to the mountains though there's no replacement for it. Personally I'ld look for something like Ricks RX1. If I was going to buy a new sled I don't think it would be a two stroke. With the exception of maybe a new Rev. Something I'ld like to buy is one of them Snow Halks. I think that's what they're called anyways. It's half dirt bike and half snowmobile. They look like alot of fun. They're 15,000 for the big one though. Ryan Ryan

Hi Rick, that's great. I'm glad you guys finally got some snow. We're up close to a foot now I think. I went out just before dark last night for a little longer ride. Managed to put on about 25 miles. Some spots the snow is getting pretty deep allready. I'm wishing I had a better track on the Yamaha allready. Did some more looking on the net the other night. There's some things that I really like about the grizzly but I don't konw. There's a few things that I didn't really like either. I've got to take another look at it up close before I make any decisions. So did you get a chance to drive that other one? I'm curious to hear what they're like. Is the heat exchanger mounted on the bottom of the seat? I see the tunnel is open underneath at the back. It looks like a really fun little sled. Ryan

Ok Ryan here is my report on the Phazer it sucks no just joking.....ha ha but there are a few things that need to improve...the open spot under the seat well the snow melts and runs down to your boots or pants...bad...but they have a up date that closes it in to stop this but let's say 200.00 will fix it... 2 on the belt side it has 3 little clip things and boom the belt is there...but I do not know the hell they where thinking when you go to the oil side you need a freaking Allan key to get into check the oil do ya believe that that is nuts... w00t 3 the anti freeze you have to take half the sled apart well maybe not that bad just to add anti freeze... :cussing: 4 I here to change the plug you have to take the seat off wow eh... w00t :cussing: [attachmentid=31176] ok I think the Mechanic took the engineers wife so the engineer is getting back at the Mechnic... :lmao: :lmao: Hey I want to buy a new Grizzly in the spring for Michael & Claudette Rick :christmas:

Wow, that sucks. What were they thinking ehh. I kinda wondered about the open seat. I didn't know if there was a reason for it or not. Figured when I looked at your other pics that the rider might get a little wet. Mind you I get a little bit wet on our sled too. Sounds pretty rediculous that you have to take the seat off to change the spark plugs. Not something that you should have to do everyday but still a pain if you ever do. Hopefully the fun factor will make up for all the other down falls. Was out for a short ride today and put on about 15 kms. When I went to get back on the sled to bring it down to the house again.(it was parked at the shop) it didn't run right, it was just running real rough. Figured I'd burnt out a plug or something so I changed out the one that I though it probably was and no difference. So I drove it back up to the shop and pulled out all the plugs. I took them over to our spark plug cleaner/tester and checked them out. Turns out the plugs aren't in verry good shape. I cleaned them all up and put them back in and it runs fine again but tomorow I'm going to pick up another 6 of them so that I've got a full set plus a complete spare set again. There's a motocross bike that I'm looking at bidding on if it goes cheap enough. Probably go for more then I want to spend on it but will wait and see. Here's a picture of it. Ryan Wow, that sucks. Saw a ad in the paper the other day for a new phazzer. I'm not sure wich modle it was but it was red. Thier price on it was 7995. They had a 06 grizzly 660 yet too for 9500 with a winch. Your right there but who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and win it. Little bit of info for ya. That bike has 55 hp and wieghs 222 lbs. That's more then your grizzly I think with only a 3rd of the wieght. They're some pretty crazzy little bikes. Well at least there's some good news about your mom. :) The auction ends on the 8th. The bikes only 35 miles from me so I can pick it up easy. Ryan

Wow Rick, that news is a real kick in the stomach. I'm verry sorry to hear about your mom. How could they ever miss something that big in the ct. Hopefully she can make it home for christmas and be with the family. I didn't get the bike at all, it went for 4,000 I was only going to pay 3,000 for it. For what it sold for I can buy a bike in Saskatoon that is in perfect shape for the same price. We went to Hudson Bay yesterday and looked at another processor. I'd like to buy it but I don't know if I can get enough wood in the bush to cut to make the payments on it. I've got the 25% down payment so getting a loan wouldn't be a problem I don't think but it's all the payments afterwards. It's a 1989 John Deere 790D-LC. Ryan

Yes Ryan the doctor was pissed at the guy that read it he did not see it must have been sleeping....thanks Ryan... just say a prayer for her please...all I want is to take her out for one more road trip to see the Christmas lights we had planed to do that you know our Saturday road trip we where doing...I'm so happy I spent them weekends with mom ..... Sorry you did not get the bike I was hoping you would....I see you are one Auction smart guy you set a limit before the bidding starts ....that's the way to do it.... Wow Deere is good in my eyes but all the payments plus money you have to put into it to keep it running...how much sitting time will it have when it is not making you money...like a buggy Glen & myself used to talk about them I wanted to get rid of them replace them with rock trucks....anyone can run them just about and you are way more versatile with a 6x6 rock truck....look on the floodway they are using lot's of rock trucks most contractors a few older contractors are still using buggy... and yes Glen has gone to rock trucks he has 3 of them in the fleet now... Price out a new under carriage for that machine chains pads etc just to jive you a idea.. Hey the Phazer is still sitting in the garage we have a hole 7 km on it unreal eh we need more snow please...but Ryan I'm real impressed with the blade on our Quad it is unreal does it plow snow I would recommended buying one but I think it might have a problem if the snow was hard though...but time will answer that question...but so far so great.. Will do Rick. I really hope that she can make that trip with you. I'm not losing any sleep over it, there'll be other ones. When I go to a auction I try to make sure that I know what the value of something is. I also keep an eye on other things like vehicles rv stuff and other things on the internet just incase I see something at a auction that I didn't know was there. Way to often I see people at auctions paying way more then they should be. The machine would probably be siting for 6 months out of the year. I'm not even really that concered if it is sitting there not making me money, it's weither or not it'll make me money when I am working it. The up keep on those machines are terible. Especially with the processing head. Your fixing little things on them every other day. They're not cheap to keep up either. It had good u/c on it but it just had sliders instead of rollers on the u/c. So I don't know how that would work out for sure. It's been that way since new so it can't be all that bad. Good to hear that the blade is working out for you. My brother said with his you have to kind of keep the blade full other wise it wants to kick out the trip on it sometimes. Managed to put on 100 miles now. So i'm off to a pretty good start. For me anyways. Might go out this afternoon if we don't go somewhere and see if I can't find some logs to cut this winter. I take it you don't have enough snow for good snowmobiling yet Rick? Hudson Bay has sure got snow, probaly around 15-20 inches. Ryan

Is she getting stronger again now Rick? I'd sure like to buy it but I'm a little leary of things. I'm not scared of work but what hapens if I can't sell the wood. That's the biggest problem that I'll run into I think. Are you getting any snow out that way now? There forecasting some here but I don't know what it's going to amount to. In a way I'd be happy if it didn't snow any more here the rest of the winter. But at the same time I like to see the water go fast in the spring. :D There wont be much runoff with what we've got right now. You'll get up there pretty soon Rick. The snows coming. Only problem I'm having is the more I ride the more it costs me. :D Ryan

[/color] no mom is not..... I guess it's time to quit being selfish ...there is no quality of life anymore she is on morphine big time..... well I sure hope you could sell the wood Ryan but it would be something I would think about real hard though.... we have had a few more dusting but nothing good.. I sure hope so Ryan but time will tell I guess eh...was thinking of one of them enclosed trailers...no garage then... Rick[color="#FF0000"]

I'm verry sorry to hear that Rick. I really was hoping that she was getting better. I'm thinking pretty hard about it but it just doesn't seem to add up completely. There's just so many unknowns with what I'm going into. There's lots of ifs but no for sures. I hope this snow we got here makes it's way over to you. We got another 6"-8" yesterday and last night. It's hard to tell for sure it's blown around so much. So I guess I'll go fire up the skid steer and start to move the snow out again. They're sure expensive though. I think they're upwards of 8,000 for a decent size one. Maybe I'm out to lunch on that but seems to me that's what I saw some place. Ryan

Hey Rick it's horrible to hear about your mom. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the rest of the family. I really hope she can pull through. Well have a good day and I hope your able to take her to see the light show. TTYL

Same to you Jordan. :christmas: Still holding out and not giving up just yet Rick. Maybe if your mom can't come to christmas, maybe you can bring christmas to her. Might not be the best place to have christmas but I bet she'd be happy anyway as long as the family was there. If she is strong enough to come out of her room you could even make it a surprise. Maybe you've allready though about this and decided against it but I'm just throwing ideas out there. Planing on going out for a ride on Sunday again. Going to try and put on a few miles but who knows. Might end up busy doing something else. Been buys the last couple of weeks cutting up saw logs. We're bucking up that tree lenght stuff that we hauled home in July. Poor little skid steer has been going steady the last little while. If it were me I'd build the garage Rick. The trailer is nice there's no doubting that your sleds are out of the salt on the highway and rocks and things like that. It's a personal choice I guess of what works best for you. Hope you get to put on a few miles soon Rick. That poor new sled is looking sadder every day I bet. :D Merry christmas to you guys. Have a safe and happy one. Ryan

Rick, I just wish there was something I could do to make it a happy outcome. Unfortuatly by the way you talk it doesn't sound good. It's such a hard time of the year to deal with something like this too. Hang in there buddy. :) Hope you made it out and had a good ride. Be good for you to get away from some of the stress for a little bit. I tell ya what Rick, there's a big pile left yet, your more then welcome to come out and remember what it's like. :D It's not all that bad but it get's sickening after a while. Them buggers out there ehh, tax is all they got in thier heads there too. Up till now they haven't taxed people around here for improvements to thier land but I fear the day is coming. :( In that sense the trailer would make more sense for you. Except I supose for the registration, that would eat up a liltle bit. Of course a little bit of maintenence. I don't know what they charge you guys out there. But you'd probably still come out cheaper I imagine. Merry Christmas everyone. Ryan

Like you said Rick, moms are very special and they're hard to lose. Good to hear that you got our for a couple of rides. You guys sure don't have much snow out there. Looks like that river ice will eat up sliders pretty good. That's rediculous Rick. How can they get away with charging you that much a year in taxes. I got out for a ride today too. Put on another 70kms. It was perfect out today for sledding. It was fairly warm out and real bright. Had a good time. I had to break trail in some spots though. Snow was pushing over the front bumper on some trails. I went looking for posible areas to cut saw logs and fence posts if I buy a processor. Found one big spot that wasn't to bad. But I don't know weither or not our ever so cooperative gov. will let me cut it. See I said you'd catch up to me real quick. I'm at 300 kms for the year so far. Ryan

I'm sorry Rick. I wish she could've seen one more christmas with you guys. Christmas day will be a sad day for you from now on I imagine. Maybe it's better now though, she doeesn't have to suffer anymore. From what I've come to know of your mother she was a tough woman that fought to the end. Sadly she couldn't overcome it this time. I'll understand if your away from the forum for a while. Don't feel like you have to come in and see what I'm up to. You've got allot more important things to deal with now. What can I say other then it was and is a very sad time in my life I lost my best friend my mother. They say mom's and son's are close well my mom and myself where very close we talked on the phone almost every day or spent most weekends together. The pastor was saying a prayer for mom in the hospital room when she was praying mom took her last breath and past on. I will tell you something I do not tell many people my father past away when I was in my mothers stomach. My mother was tuff to go though what she did and raise myself & my older sister...who by the way was Miss Blue Bomber in 1977 she took all the good looks that's why I don't have any....ha ha..I was named after my father Richard Franklin Nash my last name is changed because my mom remarried to my step dad.. They say time will heal all pain but I don't think it will work here I think time will numb the pain. thank you for all the kind words and support Ryan... I must take a card with some flowers & chocolates to the hospital staff (nurses and health care aids)at the Grace Hospital where by the way mom worked for many years at the front desk.... I will not be gone from this site Ryan we must go on have fun enjoy life and live it to the fullest because that's what my mother would want. How was your Christmas did everyone come home did you eat lot's I hope your family had a very merry Christmas ....did you get out for a ride..... we do need some snow I sure hope we get some soon other wise we are going to go to the snow.. I told my mom about your mother and she said to send her depest condolences. She lost her mother my grandmother the day after christmas so she said that she can relate to what your going threw. I was talking with Hardtail from R.P. and he asked how your mom was doing. I hope you don't mind but I told him about your mom's passing. Good to hear that your not going to disapear Rick. Your right on the time heals all pains thing. There will allways be that void but there will always be the good memories to help fill that. We went to my sisters for christmas this year. Spent the afternoon there and had a big supper. Got to spend some time with my nephew and nieces there. I'm sure surprised that some of the snow that we've gotten hasn't made it's way over to you guys. Funny last year it was the complete opposite. You guys had lots of snow at christmas and we harldy had any. I was out today for a little ride, I took my one nephew out for a little rip. Didn't put on any miles though really. Just puttign around the yard and in the field a little bit. My brother in law is talking about brining out a sled when the whole family gets together for christmas so we'll see. Might try and make a little bit bigger run then. I actually have to fix on the yamaha before I do any more bigger trips. One of the idler wheels on the back went to heck on me so I've got to get a new one and a new bearing. Ryan

I am so sorry to hear about your loss Rick. I wish you and your family all the best through this tough time. Well got to go put some good miles on in my days off. Went for a good run on Christmas and we were climbing some pretty straight verticle runs and then all of a sudden I couldn't make one and my sled landed right on top of me. It wasn't bad just tunneled my way out from underneath it. Then my bro showed up and helped me out. After that we went back and took my dad for a ride. He's 69 years old and he kept right up with us. It was amazing cause we took him through the best of the best and he had a blast. There was some places where I didn't think I was going to make it through and the old man up showed both of us. I wish I would of taken pics but the batteries in my camera died. Then yesterday boxing day we went out for another good ride. We left my bros house in Asquith and my v-max was acting all stupid it was all froze up so went to my buddies house (TJ's) and grabed my exciter and left the v-max there and that old girl ran like a champ. Oh yah my buddy that was riding it last week blew my psi pipe apart! They were burnt out pretty bad. So we put on the factory exhaust and it worked pretty good. So we toured to Langham and then when we left there we were flying down the ditch and someone had got stuck with a 4X4 and they shoveled it out and I hit the hole doing 100km/h and that launched me like a rocket. I let go in the air landed on my back rolled a few times and then when I was spining I seen headlights come at me it was my bro so I curled up and he missed me by inches. Today my back and shoulders are sure sore but Im alive and kicking thats the main thing. The sled landed 10 of my biggest steps away and it stopped about 200y away. It scared me pretty good. Then on the way home I was riding the ditch high side and my buddy was in the bottom a couple sled length ahead of me and he got all pissy that I was going to run into him. But you couldn't see anything cuz all the snow dust was just hanging in the air. So I just fell back way back. Then all of a sudden I see a head light and buddy hit the approach and did an endo like 3x. He hurt himself pretty good. Shoulder is bugging him and his noise was cut. I missed the roll though cause I was so far back but buddy said it was pretty nasty. That was are exciting weekend. Then after that the guys did more riding but buddy was sore so he loaded up and he was my ride so I had to go home. Then my brother blew up his sled or something. He was walking home so I'll call him later today and see what happened. Well you guys have a good one and will talk to you later. Bye bye.

Good to see that your getting some miles in now. See ya got me beat allready Rick. Now I'm all sad. :( :p Yup, picked up a couple of bearings yesterday afternoon and fixed it up last night. Wasn't to big of a deal. I used the old idler so it didn't cost that much to fix. I just did the one bearing though. I repacked the other with grease again because they were getting dry too. I suspect there will be some others before the season is done though. I picked up one extra bearing so I've got one on hand. We also picked up new tires for the quad yesterday. Got 3 of them mounted last night and did the last one tonight. Those are sure some stobbern things to get sealed though. The one front tire that we didn't check has a leak in it so we have to redo it again. That's tomorow nights job I guess. Ther others seem to be okay now though.(fingers crossed) Haven't heard to much about the mountains this year. Might go west for a little trip next week though so we'll see I guess. Probably just to Edmonton though if we go. Still not sure if we're even going. lance said he was going to send you a email. That river trip will sure bring your total up I bet. Is there enough snow to keep the sliders and sleds from getting hot? Two of my nephews are riding full size sleds now and the other two are a little bit small. The one has his own kidy quad though so that kind of makes up for it I guess. Jordan, sounds like you guys need to be more careful out there. Don't want to hear about any one getting seriously hurt. I remember last year you hit a drainage ditch and went for a pretty good ride too. I've come across ruts like that but have managed to ride it out. Up till now I've never been hurt and any kind of a motorized vehicle.(knock on wood) Sure hope to keep it that way. Pain is no fun that's for surel. Take care Ryan

It would be a great sled to go up into the mountains though. If I ever get the chance to go with Amber. I dunno. Might buy it and resell it if its the 05. Well thats it for me now so take it easy and will talk to you all later. Oh and buy the way your right I will slow down some day but I have a feeling it will be for all the wrong reasons. I love to ride for the moment and enjoy life while I have the opportunity to. You never know whats waiting around the corner for us? Thanks for you concerns those. Nope, not much riding in this week since last sunday. I'm kind of down to one semi big ride a week. Can't afford any more then that. :( Haven't got a good second sled so me and dad don't get out sleding together much. Wish we could though. Wasn't to big of a deal but it took a little bit of work to get everything lined up again. Had some trouble geting the rear axle threw the idlers when I was putting it back toghether again. Got the quad all fixed up for tires now.(hopefully) Had a little bit of trouble getting the tires to seal on the rim. Didn't help that a couple of the rims were bent a little bit. Maybe you'll get some snow out of that storm. It went across southern Sk. yesterday. Left a little bit of snow from what I understand. I'm along the way too Rick. :D Jordan, if it's a 05 I'd pick it up. If it's a 04 it probably isn't worth much more then that. Two guys killed in the last couple of days now on sleds. One at Gronlid another at P.A. Both were needless from what I understand. They said that alcohol and speed were most likely involved in the P.A. incident. It's sad that it happens but most of the time it's completely preventable. Ryan

Forgot to respond to those articles before too. No it doesn't sound good. Sure hope that island of ice don't take out any oil wells. Then fuel will go up again.' To bad, I thought for sure that storm was going to hit you guys. Yours will come pretty soon I bet though. They're not talking of any snow here for the next little while but who knows. Could get dumped on at any time I guess. Your guess is as good as the weathermans. It wasn't rocks I don't think but I'm not 100% sure what it was. Congrats on the aniversary Rick. Hope you guys have a good time out there. That's where I was looking at buying my new quad if I buy one. Trying to bring up that song, it's been going now for about 10 min. and it's still only at the first minute thanks to this great dial up. Once I saw the title of the song I knew which one it was right away. My brother in law was talking with a guy the other day at a gas station that had one. So he asked him how he liked it so far. The guy told him that it had no power in the powder snow. But he said he'd never had so much fun on a snowmobile. Will try again. I've heard the song before, just not in a while now. it is a pretty good song though. We can get high speed via a tower that's a little ways from home but it costs so much to get into it. I don't know I'm getting to the point where I might just go ahead and get it. Maybe split the cost up with mom and dad. Still looking at the 500 can am xt outlander from bombardier. I still haven't ridden one yet though so it's not fully decided. Ryan

Hey guys just want to wish all of you a happy New Years and many more to come! I had a blast this weekend. First of all we went on a big sled ride and then made it back to buddies shop and rang in the new year. Kept on having problems with that v-max freezing up and not really hitting top speed and stuff. So we put in the biggest gear we had laying around and cut apart a ice cream pail for the front of the sled where the opening is in the noise cone and then duct taped up all the vents on the inside and it seemed to work great. Never overheated or anything. I get around 130km/h out of it now with the 136 11/4" paddle before I was lucky to get 100km/h out of it. So im quite pleased with it. Now I think its time to make some good vent covers and make it look real good! Asquith is having there poker rally next weekend to Eagle Creek so it should be a blast. Then they have smokies and hot chocolate and coffee half way so Im looking really forward to it. Both sleds are running great again so should be a blast. Have a good one guys and will talk to you later. Jordan

Hi Guys, had another set back with my sled. I was out last night for a little rip. Just a nice relaxing little ride. I came into some powder snow and I wanted to turn so I shifted my weight over and turned the bars. Well, the bars fell backwards and I went sideways. Wasn't going verry fast thankfully otherwise the sled would've ended up in the creek bed. Then I would've had fun getting it out. I was a little over a mile from home so I got it pointed in the right direction and headed for home. Had to make some corections to it to get it up the side hill but I got there eventually. The steering column broke off right where the bars mount. I tore it all apart as much as I could last night and found out to get it out all the way I'd have to pull the motor out. Taking off to Ab. tomorow so won't have time to fix it till the weekend. Going to weld it up again and hope for the best. I'm just glad it didn't let go when I was cruzing down a twisty trail with big trees along the sides. Gota go for supper I'll take a look at those pictures when I get a chance. Might go back up to the shop again tonight though to get some more done on the sled before we go. So you guys might not hear from me for a few days. Ryan

Hey guys hows it going? That Rally on the weekend was a blast. The trail was really rough and poorly marked but for some reason it was awesome. My sister ended up breaking her foot though so that really sucked! She got her foot stuck in the toe hold when she got bucked off and that was right when it started to snow and blow really bad it was like a mini blizzard out and she hit a small little drift and it sent her flying! So after that we went to the Asquith bar and they had a band in there called Krankenstein and they were really good! I hope you guys all had a great weekend as well so take her easy and will talk later!

Hi guys, I'm not ignoring you. This darn computer is on the blitz again. Had to reformat it on Saturday after we got home. Wow Rick, you've sure been racking up the miles since I last checked. Told ya you'd pass me real quick. Still don't have the Yamaha fixed up yet. Got it somewhat planed out now though. I've got a 7/8" shaft that I have to grind down to just a little over 13/16". Sure wish I had a lathe now. I'm going to put that threw the inside of the steering column then drill 4 or 5 holes into it threw the steering column and weld it all up. Should be good and solid then. I'm going to get a extra 1" or so of rise on my bars too which wont hurt. Had a good trip out to edmonton. Got back late Friday night. Didn't buy anything big at all, looked at a couple of processors but they weren't in verry good shape. I got to meet up with Lance when I was out there. He's a good guy. Didn't get to spend much time there but at least I finally got a chance to put a face to the words on the computer screen. He's actually thinking about selling his house and moving to saskatchewan. He's looking at a place that's about a hour and a half from my place. He said when we left you never know we could be neighbours. Good to hear that your getting out sledding to Jordan. That 's to bad about your sisters foot sounds pretty painful. There's talk of -40 by the weekend here so who knows what's going to happen. Oh yea I almost forgot our stove sprung a leak on us again when we were gone. Going to try and get that fixed up today before it gets real cold. Ryan

Tried to reply before and the internet explorer just shut down when I went to add reply. I don't know what's going on with this thing. It's still acting up. I have to press the stop button before it's done bringing up the page. Then sometimes if I'm lucky the page will come up. We're in the middle of a big blizzard right now. Suposed to get close to a foot of snow with heavy winds. Will see I guess, can't tell how much we've had so far as it's all blown around. I'm hoping to have the yamaha back up and runnig by this afternoon. Got a wee little bit of welding to do then it's just to put the carbs back on hook up all the wires air box and cables. That would be pretty cool. Lance's harley wont go threw the snow to good though. :lmao: So far no real close neighbours on the net that I know of. Talk with Kelly from R.P. quit often though, he's about 60 miles away from me. Meet up with him at auctions all the time. Ryan

See I told ya soo. :D Be careful out there. It was sure nasty here all day. All cleared off today though, just real cold now. It's -30c right now. Suposed to go down more yet too. Didn't really get out today to try out the yamaha. I had it out and drove it up and down the hill a bit just to make sure that the bars were straight and they are. I'm hoping to get a minute sometime tomorow and go out and check out some of the snow drifts. Going to take my camera with me if I go. Sure would like to buy a new sled but that's going to have to wait for a couple of years I think. To many other things to buy first. I don't know if Lance is real serious about moving out. I think he'd like to but at the same time the land that he's on is family land and he has a sentimental attachment to it. He's sure got a beautiful house out there, it's on top of a little hill beside his driveway. Open cealing in the kitchen and living room with wood finish. They built it themselves about the same time you guys built your house. When you drive by on the hwy you wouldn't even know there was a house in there. It's just a small driveway off to the right. It twists and curves a little back to his house. Would be lots of fun that's for sure. If lance moved out here. another big pig roast. I'd like to have a street bike as well but I don't think I'd buy a harley. They're overpriced and overated imo. You pay allot of money for that put a put a sound. They do sound real good though. Yes, Kelly is a farmer too. He didn't do much this year though because it was to wet to even seed. He didn't even get off all of what he did seed. It was just to wet. Ryan

How did you do with your wood stove Ryan sure hope she is up and running again... glad to here you have your sled up and running again I was hoping you would have said that's not your sled did you buy a new on look at the picture...I was trying to get you....no I did not buy a new Apex or Attack it is just a picture... Ya I can't see lance moving out this way sounds like he has a unreal place out there...I hope to get out that way soon if they will give me some time off work soon.... Ya I seen some Yamahas at Troys boy are they cheap you could buy 2 for the price of one hog... well we finished with another class of students yesterday they have been placed on the floodway to start work on Monday...I will be keeping a eye on them though....they should blend in well... Darn cold out here yesterday -48 with wind-chill we are a little soft with the weather we have been getting though... I have started looking for a enclosed trailer LOOKING right now... They say it should start warming up Wednesday or Thursday I hope so would like to start riding again... [attachment=32398:Sigfusson_030.jpg] Rick

Hi guys, still fighting with this computer. I'm starting to get it straightend out now. Had posted earlier but I see that my post didn't make it threw. It would've made my last post make a little bit more sense. Oh well. Rick, I did see a difference but I just thought that you had been doing some mods to your sled. I didn't know that there were apexes in that coulor scheme. Haven't looked to closely at them though either so I just might not have seen them before. The wood stove actually sealed itself off again for now. Going to check it out closer though when it warms up again. Sure got cold out after that big storm blew threw. I've got the yard all snowplowed again, sure took a while though. There were lots of snow drifts to push out. I'm starting to run out of room to push snow now allready. Haven't been out on the Yamaha at all lately ecept for a little rip the other day. Just been to cold out to go any distance. Took a picture of the yamaha on top of one of the snowdrifts by home though. I'll see if this computer will cooperate enough to get it on here. Happy belated birth day Jordan, hope you had a good one. Hope you sisters foot heals up quick. [attachment=32446:100_2163.JPG]

The processor is looking like it's going to get put on hold for another year or so. It's not completely out of the question yet but it's looking more hopeless. So looks like there may be a new quad instead showing up in a couple of weeks or months. If I can sell my Canola high enough in the next couple of weeks I might just haul it out. Nothing certain yet cause the price isn't quit high enough yet but it's getting awful close some days. Just tell her that's not fair she's got a new snowmobile and a new car plus the posibility of a another new quad on the way. :lmao: :D Was pretty happy when I went to fill it up and there was no water in the ash pan anymore. Still going to have to look into it one day but for now it can wait. We're in the middle of building a wood splitter so when that's all done we'll go from there. The picture doesn't really show how deep the drift is. Where the yamaha is siting it's around 8' deep maybe a little bit more. Hope you get out for a good ride on Thursday. I've been out just putting around a little here the last couple of days. Just playing on some of the snow drifts and touring around a little. I never really got into doing that at all. I don't know I just never had any desire to go to the bar or concert what ever it may be and spend my money. I'd much sooner put that money towards a quad or buying fuel for the yamaha. I get more enjoyment out of that. To each thier own though. Is Michael still up North working? Ryan

I'm allot the same way Ryan but the only thing is I will see the Stones that's about it ....no Michael is back down south working playing hockey keeping Grandpa in line...and sledding once in a while...thought he would have live here on his new sled but who knows long as he is having fun... Wow Rick, you're sure racking up the miles now ehh. Those are sure some nice cabins. Your bil's cabin sure looks like it'd be a cozy warm little spot to relax at after a long days ride. I can see why they got the award. Looks like some great trails to ride on. Great, I say I want to sell Canola then it drops in price. Go figure. If I didn't want to sell it, it'd be 10 bucks a bushel. Oh well, by t he looks of to get what I want out of it I might have to wait till June. That's the highest price they're offering right now. It's a big gamble this farming your always debating weither you should book it in at a certain price in fear that it'll go down, then it turns around and goes higher. To think I almost booked in Canola for $7.5/bushel last fall now I can sell it today for a little over 8.00/bu. Could've gone the other way though too. Looks like you guys had a real good ride. Stove has started to leak a little bit again now. Not as bad as it was but there was water in the ash pan tonight again. It's going to have to wait till we get this wood splitter done though. Been working on it pretty well steady for the last few days. I too thought he'd be out every weekend racking up miles on his shiny new sled. Did you guys get much snow lately? Just a skiff here the other day. Ryan

In a way I wish I had a trail systom that I could jump onto from home and ride. That's what our sled is actually made for. It doesn't like the deep snow verry good. It would sure be nice to be able to take off and ride for a day. My sled would sure be allot easier on fuel too. It's nothing to be down around 5-6 mpg if the snow is real deep. I didn't think Claudette would be out as much as she has been. I figured you'd have to push her onto the sled to get her going. It's good that you guys can get out and do somthing together that you both enjoy. Going to go do some more work on the wood spitter this afternoon I think. Getting closer to done now. Have to mount the engine yet put the oil tank on and get it all painted up. Going to have to make a quick trip to saskatoon to pick up a hydraulic valve that my brother picked up for us a princess auto. Might sneak out and take a look at a old crawler that I found back in the bush in a abandoned yard. Jordan, hope you guys got out for a good safe ride. Pretty nice day to be out riding. Ryan

Hi Jordan, sorry to hear that you didn't get out for a bigger ride. There's times where it would sure be nice allright. Sometimes I like to take off on my own though. Like the other day I took off Monday afternoon and went for a ride. Found some real nice snow to play in. It was about two feet deep but not real loose. It wasn't hard though either, you could just float threw it. Man was that ever nice. It was in a spot where there was bush on either side so it didn't get hit with all the wind that we got. It was about 1\4 mile long and a 1\4 mile wide. What's going on out there Rick, it's darn neat all artic cats in that pic. You better get busy and convert them boys over to yamahas. :lmao: :lmao: Wow, that's is some warm up shelter. Big screen tv to boot. Guy could just move right into that one. :D We had a few of them big ol bufalo lose around here a couple of years back. Someone was moving them to another pasture and they got away on them. Just like the good ol days with bufalo roaming the open praries. :D I just about hit one though coming home one day. We came over a hill and here was one standing right in the middle of the road. Wouldn't move either. I was scared that it was going to charge the truck. Here's a picture of the wood splitter from last night. [attachment=32767:100_2170.JPG]

I never was hung up verry much on any one kind of snowmobile. I was never a real big fan of polaris though. I'll ride pretty much anything that will get me there and back though. The splitter will split up to a 25" block. We wont split anything for the outdoor stove at all I don't think. Just the shop stove. Thanks, we built it heavy hoping that it'll last a long time. Going to take it out of the shop today and put it in the smaller shop to finish it up. Need to get some parts first though before we can finish it up. My brother picked us up a hydraulic kick off valve for it at princess and there's a couple of other little things that we need as well. Ryan

Hi Jordan, can't really say for sure as allot of it is materials that we allready had. Had to buy a little bit of steel, hubs and spindles, hyd. spool, and the pump. We had the I beam cylender and the engine. We just took the one out of our lawn mower for the winter. We'll put it back again come summer. It's a 13 hp honda. It's a big job building them. It doesn't look like much but it takes time to get everything squared up and lined up where you want it. We hope to get it going by the end of next week. Going to take a look at my brothers before we finish it up just to see how he did a few things on his. Got to make sure that we get out hydraulics hooked up right too. Put on about another 30 kms today. Went for a little ride around the block just before supper. It's sure nice out there now. We got about another 2 or 3 inches of snow the other night and man are the fields ever nice now. You can just fly accross them. Ryan

Hi Rick, those are the ones that you want to make sure that you hang onto. It's always interesting to look back threw old photos on a rainy day and remember the things that have gone by over the years. Great picture too. Looks allot like I did when I was about a year old riding on my brothers dirt bike with him. We used to ride up and down the yard all day long like that. I'd hang onto the handle bars and away we'd go. Not to many pictures of my childhood though unfortunately. Wish I had some more though. Sure been nasty here today. Winds been blowing like a sob. Yesterday wasn't too bad but the day before that was real miserable. Thursday was one of the nicest days we've had in a long time though. It was up aruond +4 with no wind. Fields aren't as good now. Lots more drifts on the fields to make them rough again. Hoping to go to Saskatoon on Tuesday. Not sure yet though, depends on if mom has to work or not. Got a email from my brother the other day. Lucky bugger has been down on a small island called Saint. Lucia. It's just a little bit North of Spain. They said it was 80-90*F there. Ocean was bath tub warm. Makes a guy wonder what we're doing up here. :D No snowmobliles down there though. haha Have you been out riding lately? Ryan

Yes your right I have a number of Michael's younger years already burnt to cd's.... yes it has been nasty here too blizzard warning in some parts too... I here Saskatoon has a snow problem this year way to much snow....you should take a few pictures when you go down that way and post them....I sure would like to see them how much snow they have... I would not mind being where you brother is for a week or so lucky guy... No we have been going though mom's stuff I hope to get out this weekend though...I want to take Claudette to West Hawk Lake to do some sledding for a few days...we will se though... Been with Glen the last few days he is having his fun ....he said he would like it if I came back onto the winter roads...his lead dog has been having problems reading the ground here is what he means...ha ha...should have paid me more money...he still is a very good friend we talk all the time....I would go but.... My one brother was talking about copying pictures to cd's. He said that the normal cd's that you buy at superstore grocery stove what ever it may be will not last for real long times. I don't know anything about that at all, but he said that there is a better quality call a archival sp?? cd that is soposed to last over the years. I've got some cd's here that are 6 years old, as far as I know they still work but I haven't tried them in a while so I don't know for sure. He got looking into it because some of his movies that he had made didn't want to play back properly. Might be something worth looking into if you're going to do lots of it. Saskatoon hasn't had a whole lot more snow then us this year but thier problem is they're out in the open so bad. You've got to look pretty hard to find a tree around there. With all these winds that we've been getting they've been getting drifted in pretty good. I'll take the camera with tomorow and if I see something worth taking a picture of I'll try to get it. There's a web site that's got a bunch of pictures posted on it, I'll see if I can find ya a link to it. Some from Regina and some from Saskatoon. YOu'll have to copy and paste the link, couldn't get the insert link to work. http://www.newstalk980.com/index.php?p=bzyourview He just got back tonight, said it was quit the experience if nothing else. He said it's really almost a 3rd world country down there except for the resorts and tourist spots. They hired a taxi drive for the day and toured the island. Said it was pretty interesting to see. I think he was pretty happy to be back home again though. Pretty tired too. It's been pretty miseralbe to be out sleding anyways. I was out this morning just for a little bit to see what the fields were like and to see if there was any new drifts to play in. I think it was -8*F when I went out. Wow, that's no good. Stuff like that just cuts right into a guys bottom line. What happend to the little 450's. Is he just leasing those 5's? Ryan

Hey guys yah theres lots of snow here. I'll try to take some pics and get them posted for you. This weekend were going to Calgary to watch the Canuck game so you never know you just might see us on tv on saturday night. Were 10 rows up in the Calgary attack zone in the corner. To the right of the goalie when your looking straight at him. I seen some fences that are completely drifted over. Dogs run right over top of them and get out of the yards so they have to chain them up all the time. Its quite impressive havnt' seen anything like this before. Your right Ryan there is no trees to stop the snow so it keeps blowing in. Well will talk to you guys later have a good one.

Hi Rick, trying a couple of my oldest cd's as I type. First one was fine second one hung up a little bit when I first put it in. I took it out blew it off a little bit and put it back in and it was fine so far. Saskatoon's still got a few spots left to put snow but if we get another 3 or 4 big storms again I think they might just run into trouble. Sure was nasty coming home last night, some spots it was down to just about zereo visability. Once we got back into the bush It was okay though. He was sure tired when he got home monday. Went to bed pretty early that night. He had to be back at work by 8 too so that didn't help. He's just a spending money out there ehh. :D Hi Jordan, hope you have a good trip and turns out to be a good game. Cant look for ya though on tv, only got one chanel out here on the farm and that's ctv. Never bothered to get a dish and we can't pick up cbc most days threw our rabbit years. Used to have direct tv then the dam crtc screwed that all up. Ryan

Well I still didn't get my computer back yesterday so today after work Im going to pick it up even if its not done. Yah Im taking that chick who has the M1000. I sure hope she'll let me ride it for taking her to the game. But im off for now so you guys have a good one and will talk to you later.

Gona go threw the rest of my cd's and check them over and make sure they still work. I've got a bunch of music on them that I don't want to lose. I might look at buying a printer and printing off some of my favorite shots just so I know I'll have them for a long time. Lost a few last fall when the hard drive crashed. Some that I didn't want to lose either. Felt pretty bad about that but what do ya do other then back them up every couple of weeks. I always seem to put it off though till it's to late. Just about got the splitter done now, got it painted today just have to put the cylender back on hook up the lines and fill the tank with oil. She should be ready to go. I've got to touch up the paint in a few spots though, it ran on me some. We haven't got a good paint sprayer and the paint that we were using was teribly thick. Tried to thin it out with paint thinner but it just kurdled (sp??). Man would that ever be fun cruising up and down the streets pushing snow. Did ya have any trouble with traction on the ashphalt? Too funny about the curbs. :D Would've been quit the surprise to hit a hydrant under all that snow. I never did ask him what time they were on way down there. He said his GPS showed 4,000 miles one way. Had to have a look at his pictures while we were at his house last night. There some interesting sites there that would be allright to see. Found out that is where they filmed the first pirates of the caribean. They've actually still got the ship there and for a whole bunch of money you can go out on it for a ride. I guess if he's got it to spend why not. Ryan

Hi Rick, have you done any looking into it yet? I haven't as of yet. Tell me what you find out if you do find some of those high quality cd's. Like I said it was my brother who told me about it, I hadn't really thought much about it again till you said that you were copying some of your mom's pictures. Mom and dad did the finishing touches after I took these pictures but it's close enough anyways. All that's left now is flush the tank and then put oil in it. I'm hoping to try it out tomorow. Oh yea I forgot we have to put the recoil on the engine yet as well.[attachment=33090:100_2178.JPG][attachment=33094:100_2179.JPG] Yup, that's as the crow flies. Long ol way from home that's for sure. Wish I had some of his pics, I'd post them for you to see. Yea, yea I know I've been talking big for a while now. Still no new quad, sled will have to do for a couple more years. Still got my canola but it's been droping a little the last little while, I'm hoping it comes back up but doesn't look to good right now. Soudns good, have you still got my email address? I've got two of yours in my address book, and I've forgot which one is the right one.

Thanks Jordan, lots of work went into that one. They don't look like much but it takes allot to get everything cut to lenght welded up and all fiting right. Hope you have a safe trip, be careful out there though them hwys have been getting pretty nasty pretty quick the last little while. Seems like them storms just come up out of no where. We came home from melfort yesterday and it was a crystal clear blue sky but you couldn't see a 1/4 mile infront of you. Yamaha's just been siting the last few days now. The wind is blowing so hard that I haven't even bothered to go out. It's cold out too. Ryan

Well, we didn't quit get it going today. I flushed out the tank but there was too much stuff left in there so we're going to install a filter of some sort on the suction line to filter it out. We've got a filter to put in there it's just that we don't have the fitings to get it hooked up. Looks like another trip to town. Only problem is tomorow is Sat and I don't know if there's anyone open who will have the fitings we need. Thanks Rick Hopefully pretty soon it'll be runing. I know Rick. Canola did bounce back up a little today so who knows. I might have to book some in for delivery in June or July to get somewhere close to the price that I want because I don't think it's going to get there right away. We're dealing on a set of loader arms in Michigan. right now so that could eat up a little bit of my money if we buy them. Suposed to go down to around -40 next week without the wind. So it could be a while before I go out again. If it's somewhat nice out over the weekend I might go for a little ride though. I heard on the news that they were forecasting real cold wind chill values for southern Mb. Ryan

Hey guys hows it going? I would like to tell you the trip was awesome. I was hoping the Canucks would win but what ever the way the fans cheered for there team was amazing. It was an awesome game. See what you guys don't get to see is the super hot girls that come out and clean the ice during the tv break. I tell you they are super super hot!!!! I had my camera out to take pictures and the battery showed full then it flashed kinda funny and battery level dropped 3 bars and then said battery depleated. So I didn't get to take any pictures. I think they may have gotten fried when they shorted out my other camera when it got dropped into the lake. So that kinda got me a little mad but what ever. Then on the way back we stopped in Strathmore* and picked up some offsale. For Clear Creek Ice it was 181.30 for 14 dozen. Its 6.2% and you get all your deposit back. So that works out to $12.95 a dozen then -$1.20 so your looking at $11.75. I sure wish we had those kinda price in our town. Its $24 for a dozen of cold beer in Langham. Oh well. The drive thru drumheller was pretty cool to see. The only thing I would do different for next time is take someone along who knows Calgary pretty good cuz man can you get lost in a hurry. I would also take a couple days to go shopping and site seeing cuz even the foothills in the horizon looked cool. I so wish my camera would've worked. I think I might go back there for my next holiday then tour thru banff and Jasper and go to Vancouver Island. I think it would be a great trip. Well I should get back to work and will talk to you guys later. Bye bye

Hi Jordan, sounds like you had a great trip. To bad about the camera would've liked to have seen some pictures. Yea Calgary is a pretty big place. I've only ever driven threw it once and that was about a month after I got my drivers license. Got threw with no smash ups though. :D Would've liked to see some pics of those girs. :D So where did you end up buying them Rick. I checked around on future shop's site but they didn't show anything except some fuji photo cd's that were suposed to be rated for 70-100 years. They weren't gold plated though. We managed to find the exact fitings that we needed down in our parts shed at the mill. So it's up and working now. No pictures yet though. We have to make a new hole in the tank for the suction line though before we use it anymore. The pump is starving for oil right now so we have to get that fixed. It'll sure split wood though. Put in some 14" blocks and it went threw them like nothing. I was out on Saturday and Sunday for a little bit. The wind died down so I figured that I'd go out for a little ride. The fields are sure rough now again though. Not near as nice as they were before we got all that wind. It snowed a tiny little bit here tonight but it's blowing again so it's not going to stay at all. Ryan
