i found a sweet deal on a 2005 polaris fusion 900, 50th anniversay edition. 1300miles on it. is there anything i should look for on this machine that seems to break a lot? any known downfalls with this unit? how does it compare powerwise with a zr900, f7 or f8? (i can't find any hp specs anywhere) is the lighting system good? hand/thumbwarmers worrk well? i've seen a lot of pics of it, looks great, but i'm going to look at it tomorrow in person and need to know where to look for possiible problems.
i've never owned a polaris before...help a possible future owner out! thanks

You are wanting a quick answer, so I will give you a quick answer. I have never rode one but looked into trading my rev for one. Talked with my dealer who was very honest with me about it. Some of them have a lot of vibration in them and some of them dont he told me. No rhyme or reason to which one does or dont. They have done things to lessen the vibration on them though such as different motor mounts, adding a ring gear thats used for electric start, there was some issue with the belts on them also. They have updated them but they are very expensive from what I remember. Aftermarket may have something else out better and cheaper by now though. From what I have read and what the dealer has told me, the 900 wasnt performing up to what it was capable of. I am sure that some aftermarket company has come up with something to get to performing to where they should be but I dont know for sure. Like I said before though, I have never rode one, this is just what I have read on the different sites. Most of the guys that have them on this site wont be back till fall.
Make sure you are getting a GOOD deal on it. The 05 900 Fusion has a bad reputation from all the bad press that it recieved. I am sure with some work it can be made into a great sled. PS, they were selling new leftovers at the begining of the 05-06 season for $6000 and I seen a few sell for $5500.
Search on here for Fusion, there have been several threads discussing them on here.

I have a 05 900 Switchback and love it. Although it does vibrate a bit more than ussual in fact I'm so used to it it doesn't bother me in the least. The 05's did have some issues ie front end push, vibration, and excessive belt ware. I had all the 06 update done to mine and all problems were eliminated except the front end push. I installed a pair of Simmons Flexi skis which afforded me to set up for serious weight tansfer and still be able to carve corners.
AS far as horsepower goes, My 900 put out 152 stock. I have been able to tweak 165 ponies out of it with a set of V-Force reeds, air Box, Y Pipe, and fuel curve mod. The new mods needed reclutching but all in all it's a sweet ride that will stretch your arms. My buds Yamaha Attack has been breathing snow Dust on a 625 foot snow track since.
Overall this sled has been a chalenge and I would do it all over in a Flash, but if your looking for an out of the box heartstopper this is not for you, it will need a little SLIPPERIZIN'.
