I bought a template but I really don't like that some studs are in between windows on the track. Could this cause a problem? are there bettered patterns that don't do this? I was just wondering... thanks for any info...G

Studboy template???
Studs in the closed windows provide the best traction! I have the 153 pattern in my firecat with double backers in the closed window, hooks well. I would say use it!
If you dont like the idea though, then use a template for a firecat sno-pro. The 1.375 tracks have no closed windows, so that template will work.
What length and quantity of studs are you useing?
Edit: I'll take a pic of my track later today for ya if that helps.
136 1.080 stud boy power points I have 48 angled doubles and 48 angled singles backers I many need to by more singles and use less doubles but we'll have to see. I guess if there is no problem with stud placement in the closed window I'll use that pattern. thanks G
Yeah I would like to see a pic of the track that would help...

I'm glad you said they are angled backers. You CAN NOT stud the closed windows with angled backers. The closed windows run right along the hyfax, thats why you get good traction because the hyfax/rails push the studs down with better force rather than just open track.
Normal backers will be level and when tightened they sink into the track, not touching the hyfax. With angled backers the head of the stud will hit the hyfax digging into it, and they wont last long!
If your doing the 4-2-2 pattern, you'll need 34 double and 68 single backers.
I hope I diddent steer ya wrong earlier, and I hope this helps.
Mines a 4-2-3 pattern for 153 studs. You can see how much bite mine have too, but I used 1.175 mega-bites.
I wish I diddent take those, now I see I have a torn lug :cussing: :bash:

I took the cat pattern of 170 and the 102 pattern and worked them together to get 136 and didnt put ANY in the closed windows. I didnt like that either. I will have to post a pic of mine. Its in my side of windows and I am currently in the wifes side. I will try to get it posted asap. I know that after 3 years I have had 1 stud come out, the rest are still in great shape. I swaped the track for a 1 3/8" this summer and will stud it the same way.

Well I think they are angled backers. They're the kind that have the the angled piece that presses against the lugs but I believe the studs are still @ 90 degrees witht he track.. I guess I will have to check. P.S. thanks for the pics.. G
