Drain coolant, unplug temp. sensor, take off head, take off pot, take off clips on pistons, push out wrist pin, inspect piston, take off rings, install new rings, gap them, and put it back together in reverse order, making sure all old gasket's are removed and new ones installed correctly. Torque to spec. in correct order. I probably missed some stuff but that should get you in the right track. I have an almost complete 1999 Indy 500 motor, bored .010 over if you need any parts.

Not only if you think you need to replace new rings, I would recommend to change to new pistons as well. As the skirt thins, it will enventually break off and make a mess inside the motor. It depends on how many miles the motor is and your cylinders will need to be hone before replace with new rings. WL.
