BIGTWIN 09-07-2006, 08:03 PM hey guys, just bought a new zr 900efi still in the box. just woundered what to ask my dealer to do while he is doing the pdi. i hear the stock clutching blows, i hear talk about a 10" to a 10.4" clutch update, i hear talk about more weight. i am just not sure what to ask him to do?? had a 02 zr 800 efi with a mrbp canister and went from 24 39 to a 25 38 gear set up!! thing was fast!!sold it for a f7 and i hated it. found this 900 efi dd, and want a cheap clutching jo that he can do.what can i do to make up bottom end with out loseing, or maybe gaining top end????
or maybe i am wrong, maybe the 04 were bad clutching!!!!! :dazed:
thanks
hosehead 09-07-2006, 08:13 PM I'm not exactly sure on the primary weights, but going to the 10.4 with the 06 belt is suppose to be a good improvement, along with 10t drivers.

What do you consider bad clutching? I have an 04 ZR900 EFI. And it seems to have plenty of power. Last season I only put 383 miles on it, just enough to break it in. Maybe I'm missing something here, or I'm just not used to the power of this sled. Before I only road an EXT 530. But anyway, If you think the sled is going to be slow. Then if you can afford it, put a bigger cluctch in. But to me, My sled has plenty of power when I need it. All in all you will love this sled. I do. Best sled I ever road. :)
BIGTWIN 09-07-2006, 08:50 PM i have herd that the could be alot of belt slipping, and some people have wrote on these fourms that stock clutching is terrible. just looking for some help.
maybe they changed from the 03 th the 04 to the 05.
also herd about shaft problems around 2200 miles?
dont get me wrong i think this sled will rock, i just miss my 800 so much that this 900 better be alot better, my 800 was fast and so reliable. should have never sold it but anyway, just want to know what to expect, and what small mods i can do now while it is at the dealers, to make this sled better then my old 800, beside the fact is an 900!!!!!!!!
thanks
