I am considering the purchase of 05 MachZ, however my cousin says that he heard that there were electrical issues with the 05. This perticular sled has 7700 KM ( 4200 Miles ) and is ab SDI. How would you rate the 05/06 Mach Z in general. ASnyy real concerns? :D
Thank you in advance for your help.

Not so sure of electrical issues per say. The fuel mapping in the efi is off somewhat. Somehow it ends up dumping a lot of fuel into the cylinders when it shouldnt be. There was a fuel mapping update in 06 for the 05 and supposedly there is to be another one this winter. This is just all in what I have read up on them. Some people have really loved theirs though too. Talk to the guy you are buying it off of and see if the updates have been done. Ask which fuel program it has, whether it has an 05 or 06. There is also a new way of adjusting the erave cables to help with some of the problems people were seeing, some of the dealers werent adjusting them correct. With ~4200 miles, the guy has rode it. Hopefully he is honest, ask him some questions about it.

The '05s were known for throwing rods due to vibration. I know a few people on HCS complained about their Mach Zs blowing up.

Funny, up in Munising last year, we had over 24 Machs lined up and not one had an issue. Even the ones running NOS. No rod issues that I am aware of either. I do know of two cranks that went. Mine has performed very well, no issues. Hope this helps as I love mine.

I hadnt heard of any rods being thrown either.
Kid Rocker, have you done anything to your's? Any fuel related issues like I have read so much about on Dootalk? Is this blown out of proportion?

Nope, just a little clutch work. I had the bulletin fuel pump installed, but no issues with mine. Ski-Doo put aux. fuel pumps on them at no cost to the consumer, but mine never had the plug fouling issue either. Just gas and oil and go. The cranks that went were due to a lot of NOS, but that was there own fault. Best sled I have owned to date.
