: Another Reason I Can't Wait..
snowmutt 09-14-2006, 03:55 PM Well after last year of floating in fluff I had to do somthing differant this year in the ski dept.
Thanks to bushdonkey I aquirred a set of saddles for my old flex skis. I can already tell its going to be a whole new ball game with these . After mounting them up and having it side by side w/ snow4's sled you can see all the latteral side surface that the center keel ski has compared to the stock indesisions. You get roughly 1 1/4"by 16" long of latteral force and there a bit narrower than the stock floaters to help to carve instead of float.
There is a down side to this though.. I think ill be looking for another set for snow4's after she has a spin in them . I think ill hear this a few times "I cant turn like that!"
I have'nt got the tape out yet but i think the flex ski made it a lower ride ht too . Maybe its just me but it looks lower, might just be the look of the ski too. They sure do make the percesions look like flat popcicle sticks though.

XCR583 09-14-2006, 10:01 PM I switched to a set of precisions last year, didnt get to ride much, but what I did, I like them a lot better than the inprecisions. I took some time and adjusted the precisions a little, couldnt get it how I like it.
What carbide are you running on the flex skis? Have you shimmed them or are you using a pcs strip or anything? I didnt do that to mine and was thinking of trying something this winter.
JasonF 09-15-2006, 12:35 AM You will love the set up, I couldn't stand the indecisions on my Gade when I got it. I just couldn't get the sled to roll in the powder like I wanted to so I switched to a center keel ski as well. Much better now  For me the Precisions work best on those late season rides when the snow is real firm and set up. :slick:
JasonF 09-15-2006, 12:51 AM Here is a pic of the gunboats that I use.

I did shim mine a 1/8" in the back , all i use was a pc of 1/8" steel stock and permatex them in place. You want to lift the front of the sled up till the skis just come off the ground , you should have more front lift then back. This will keep you from darting and put more pressure to the back of the ski.
A balanced ski makes all the differance in the handling of your sled.
Im not running PCS'S but I might try something later in the season once i see how these react on the rev. I have heard that the revs are very front heavy w/ the flex and is needed . But if theres enough shim to keep the front up then there should be no reason for them . Time will tell on that one.
As for wearbars I put the factory 6" 60*extremes on it . I wanted a set of roetins but I could'nt find any this early. I ran these on my zx and worked just as good as the others(woodys/roetins/ studboys) the one thing I liked about the roetins was they had more of a hard weld pad on the ends for wear.
Jason what are those ?? w00t almost look like cat skis , looks like there loop.
summit skis??
I was happy the way the indecisions worked on the trail expecally since i only had the 4" bides BUT shimmed . I was amazed how well it did do with the 1.5x136 pushing it, but dump off in the fluff and it was like someone took put bald tires on the front of my truck, it drove like a truck too

snow4brains 09-15-2006, 09:23 PM 1700 miles on the precisions, 1200 on the Flex's. I'll never go back! LOL Putting on the Flex's was like adding power steering, BIG BIG improvement! Added a 1/4" shim I believe, almost 0 darting.

Common, Cat skis?? FastBlack800Cat would never let me live it down if I had Kitty parts on my sled :p
I've been running the Powder Pros, these things will turn on anything (deep powder, tight hardpack turns, blacktop :lookaround: ). I don't think I could go with anything else after using these.

LOL ok just kidding  I just didnt reconize them and the loop does look the shape of the cat loop . Hay even if they where cat skis and they worked who cares right , your turning when you want it to.
The skis on the older zr's were petty good skis compared to some others back then(5"er's on the sno-pro's). With the indecisions you would be better off with a steel ski :whistling: I never thought they were bad till I had them(at least in the fluff).
I did do a quick measurment between the flex and indecisions and it looks like about 1" differance in ride ht. From the ground to the ski bolt and the ground to the bottom of the a-arm at the ball joint .
I dont think you'll be able to tell the differance but the side profile is huge. Even the side of the saddle and ski top has more surface to hold lateral force in the deep stuff when carving. Should make it more easy to get her tipped on its side and be able to balance it . MAN I miss my old zx for that , I could ride one ski for as long as I wanted on that thing. Just a little wt shift and a slight counter steer and you were up on one.
