Can someone help me find some cheaper priced lightweight skis for this sled. Camoplast offers some for $225 a set, but only works on aws III and newer....not sure if my sled has that.

Thanks.

Your 89 sled is the original AFS, It is not the III. The only company that I know had light weight skis was HPE and they were made from aluminum.

Sorry you are correct it was the AFS.

wrong btw :slick:

the Wildcat of 89 had AFS(88-91 and 92 EFI)

the 1st sled with AWS was the 90 Prowler 440

AWS III came out in 94 on the EXT 580 then on the 95 and up Cougars

I also own a 89 wildcat with AFS, I installed a set of ZRT skis from a 96 and woody's dual runners. They are a direct bolt on ski no mods needed.

Hope this helps as I also did the same on my 91 cougar which has a wildcat power plant in it :D

My buddy has a 90 wildcat and i'll check but it has plastic skis and just like stated in the last post their a direct bolt on and look just like the skis on my 98 zr 500. It has single runners but it steers better then my sled.

Yep, the AWS III should be a bolt on. All you have to do is check teh width of the spindle where the ski bolts on. Even the AWS I & II will work with the spacers such as used on the mountian sleds, with the added benifit that you'll have an adjustable ski stance.

Have a look at shadetreepowersports.com
Cheaper then Kirk and faster shipping. Or try Ebay for a set of used ones. Any plastic ski is going to reduce weight and drag, hence gaining you enhanced steering with less effort.

I picked up a set of skis from a 00 ZL to replace my ZR skis for $87 + shiping on ebay. THey came with an almost brand new set of carbides too! Just keep checking and you'll find some. No need to spend the money on brnad new ones IMO.
