Alright, I'm looking to play around with my 1990 Phazer II, and I'm wondering what you guys have done...

For example...
~Someone awhile ago was talking about a makeshift cold air intake. Basically running a tube from the airbox up to the hood vent.
~I want to make running board supports this year.
~Last year I made a handlebar riser

Stuff like that. I like building things, have a good machining/mechanics background, and tools to work with. If I could build something cool for my sled that would be great!

(I don't want to spend money...a little here and there is good, but funds are low... )

So what do you all think?

I hear ya man. I'd like to hear as well, but most people like the reliability of the old 485. Seems like once you start messing with pipes, clutches, and jetting, you can really throw things off. I'd live to pipe my sled for some extra go, but all the clutching and jetting is too complicated for me.

There are a number of threads about Phazer engine mods and tunnel stiffeners if you look around a little.

On my Phazer 2 ST, I'm running an Aaen pipe, gutted airbox, and cold air intake. I also bought REV tunnel braces that I'll be installing.

What do you mean by gutted airbox? And how did you run your cold air intake?

I don't want to put a pipe on or anything like that...just looking for stuff I can make and add to make it look cool, or function better.

Thanks guys!

1992 Phazer 2 ST Aaen pipe, Ryde Fx shocks, skis off my Venture with Woodys carbides...I have been putting off a new track but it is coming, cold air intake, power reeds, and clutching are on the to do list ....

What are you doing for the clutch kit? I need to get mine (stock) rebuilt, and am open to suggestions.

I would like one with a 136" track and wide ski`s .seems like it would be a great little boondocker

Well, I have some ideas...

I want to:
-gut the airbox, make some sort of cold air intake
-alter the seat somehow
-chop the fairing off (parts of it)
-build grab bar for front (maybe back)
-running board supports
-build a different brake/tail-light assembly
-handguards?

ALSO...would moving the mounting bolts for my rear suspension make any different in steering? I'm talking maybe 1 to 2 inches, as I'd like to get some more ski pressure. Or am I going to make the sled too top heavy?

We'll see how she turns out...either it will be cool or it will look completely stupid.
Which one it will be, I don't know! :)

Back in the spring I posted some pictures of my running boards. I bought fishbones for a polaris from Blair powersports. I got the blue ones and they were really pretty but, clashed with the red stripe on my tunnel. I stripped the red stripes off and now it looks really good. I also made launch pads that are a little different from the ones you can buy, they go up the angle of the back bumper. When my skis are way up in the air I will be standing flat on the pads! I then had them coated at Rhino. I bought the sled with the PSI pipe already on it. It has Wiseco pistons (as all my sleds do). It has been case ported and blueprinted. The case also has improved oiling and cooling. I also installed Boyeson reeds this past spring. I didn't have any problems with the jetting before the reeds so hopefully I won't still. I was thinking of doing something similar to Eric for cold air but, haven't yet. I'm also thinking about the 38 flat carb rack from a v-max.
