I have just bought the above listed sled after many years of being out of rideing and had a few questions that i hoped you might help me with.
1. What is the purpose of the heated carbs?
2. What are the weak points of this sled?
3. Is this going to be a good machine for me?
4. Do any of you own this model machine and do you like it?

My last sled was a 84 phazer and it was a good machine thats why i bought a yamaha again. Thanks for any input
Sled has rev/electric start and is the single pipe model with 1500 miles on it and all three cyls show 135psi warm.

The purpose of heated carbs is to prevent something called "icing", which is what happens to carbs sometimes if its really cold out and your ingesting snow dust. Passages inside the carb become blocked and reduce perfomance by alot. They are heated with engine coolant.

The weak points on this sled would be that most people cant run water with them because they don t know to stand and lean back when running, which puts water on the belt, then your screwed, otherwise, nothing!

Good machine, totally reliable, smooth as silk, and very quick, plus the triple sounds mint!. Lots of available mods as well..

Everyone I know who has owned a machine such as this loves it, and thats good engine compression!

Enjoy your sled!
