hey guys,

Quick question for ya. Anyone know how deep of a track you can put on a 1992 phazer 480? A buddy of mine gave me a 2-1/2 in 121 track and I'm wondering if its possible to make it fit or do I have to cut the track down to say 1-1/2 or so? the reason I'm changing tracks when I picked the sled up it only has a 3/4 in track on it. They used it on a ranch for checking on cows and stuff. I'm thinking of using it for something a little more exciting. Thanks in advance guys.

1 1/4" is the max with the stock drivers. About 1 1/2" max with 7 lug drivers.
If you do some searching through posts you'll find more info about this.

Good Luck

With the stock drivers you won't get more than 1" without rubbing on bumps.

stock tracks are pretty much the smallest lug size made by any of the manufacturers. Not sure why they went with such as small lug, but it's done everything I need it to so far. It's .540" stock.

The long track Phazer (ST) had a stock 1" track w/ eight tooth drivers. I replaced mine with 1.75" track and 7tooth drivers. Had some rub so shaved 3/4 of the paddles to 1.5.

Big improvement in traction! The new track also spun much easier (kept the same top speed despite going to smaller drivers and the new track weighing 4lbs more than the old track).
