This is only my second year of sledding. Bought a '96 RMK Ultra last year, rode it four times, then KABLOOEY. Looking at a Cat this time. Local dealer has a '98 MC 600 efi. Don't know about milage yet. He also has a '97 Powder Extreme. What should I look for?? Most of my riding is trails or ditch-banging, but I'm too close to the mountains not to go that way some.
Whatever help I can get would be great.

Last year I bought a modified 97 Powder Extreme from a friend. I love it. It was extremely well maintained, as well as ridden extremely hard. No problems with it other than a coolant leak that was repaired in minutes. Of course my previous sled was a '95 580.

I don't know much about the other sleds, but the Powder Extreme being a triple has alot more power off the line than alot of other sleds I've ridden with.

I'm in love with mine and obviously biased. I might be extending the track out to 159in this winter....not sure yet....baby on the way...it may have to wait.

Do a compression test and check out the clutches, the primarys need regular maintenance on pins and bushings or bad things happen. :cussing:

The 98' 600's had piston problems and poor efi mapping. Go with something newer.

I would go with the Triple instead.

how much do you want to spend? I have an 04 EXT 700 efi with lots of extras for $4500. Look in the classified section for more info. I have lots of friends with various CATS.
