Get your self a clutch kit from www.hotseatperformace.com it will make a world of difference and get you some more mph. *I think they may have other performace parts for that 440 take a look and enjoy.

Are pro x 440 fan was jetted way to fat we went down 3 sizes on the jets and dropped the needle one position works real good at 20 degrees! as far as top speed we have seen 90-95 mph on hard pack road! if you want to clutch it I personally like Goodwins performance! talk to jeff or greg and tell them what you are trying to get out of the sled!

when you went down 3 jet size's did it lose or add power or about the same?

Talked to Hot seat today and there are no pipes for any of the Prox chassis for 01 to 02 as they are consentrating on the regular edge chassis, seems that the higher shock towers and the brace that runs between the two make it dificult to fit twins.

what about reeds do you think it would fit good on a pro x or just a wast of money ?

People Claim that reeds don't do much on smaller machines also this is not a conventional reed setup like a case reed or piston port reed it is a The reeds are mounted inbetween the cylinders and the crankcase so it might be tough to find them.

So snorat if you had my sled and you wanted it to go faster what would you do ?

Yes it did help to jet down we are in Michigan so this is what we did for are temps and elevation! This is just a guidline for you because I dont know the type of riding you do or where you are located! Are sled was really fat it would hardly pull itself when the temps were in the 30's! we did do some clutching and we end up gearing down we were looking for a killer wholeshot and we got it! it will run with a 440 liquad to about 50mph!!!!

Yes jackpinesavage *I'am a hard rider and I live in minnsota and one more thing when you changed your clutch and your jets did you lose any top speed because what I want is more top speed ?

First, have you had it on a radar gun yet if so how fast does it go and how fast do you want it to go with in reason. Also what kind of performance tuning have you done ie clutching ,gearing, jetting etc.

First things to get more speed is chassis set up and alignment.Make sure your slide rails are perfectly squared front to back and that it is perfectly square in the chassis.Replace every bearing in the sled with NTN blue bearings as they are the smoothest turning bearing in the industry Remember the biggest speed theif is friction.set the suspension so you have a lot of sag as you will be slower with it sitting up in the air run the track LOOSE only tight enough to keep it from ratcheting I have about an inch and a half of free hange on mine.check track to ski alignment,Run a long straight edge along the track to the front bumper and use that to align the skis.Get your self a lightweight brake rotor and anything else that turns.what track do you run because a higher lug track will have less top speed then a lower lug track also to many studs will also slow it down on top end.
This is a start and I still have not gone into clutch alignment and motor alignment. All with out opening up the motor or adding the headack of twin pipes.Everything I said will give you more speed .

Also make sure your jackshaft and drive shaft are in prefect alignment.Take the skid and track out along with the chain, install the drive shaft in the chassis along with just the gears and spin the drive shaft and jack shaft if they don't spin freely shim the chain case untill they do.

If I remember right the 02 proxs were already set up to run heelclicker clutch weights and with the adjustable capability you can gain more bottom end and mid range with out loosing top end. Also All manufacturers gear sleds for more speed then they can actually do this is to keep the belt from running to high in the primary clutch. So going up a tooth on the bottom sprocket might give you some more top end along with boosting you bottom end,You will have to experiment with this to get the optimum gearing for your conditions and rider weight.Remember with clutching that you should stay close to stock rpm on top end so as to not loose top speed if your rpms go too high you will fall off the hp curve and be slower. You want to pull at the torque peak out of the hole between the torque peak and hp peak at mid range and just a bit past the hp peak at top end.

I personaly run heelclicker weights and primary spring with a Cat roller secondary and with this setup my cat rider friends that rides a zr 800 can not believe how fast my prox 600 is Also I was faster then him in a 1000 ft radar run. We both spun wildly to over half track I only had 96 used carbides and he had a 1 1/4 track.I also was only 5 mph slower then another friends 01 snopro 678 mod and he had over 200 new picks in a shaved track.

So when I bring it to the shop they should know they just have to add weights not a hole new clutch thing ?

SNORAT

A clutch kit usually consists of weights, primary spring, helix, and secondary spring. No you don't need a new clutch.
Just a question,How many snowmobiles have you owned or is this your first?

This is my 3 rd sled but as you can tell I have never added anything to *my sleds they were always stock .

If I add NTN blue bearings how much would it coast and how many mph would it add if any ? I dont know, so thats why Iam asking you. you sound like you know alot.

SNORAT

The cost to mph ratio is a little high at around 5 to 15 dollars for each bearing depending on were you get them but I have seen some sleds gain anywere from 3 to 5 mph with them depending on conditions.
