Rox Treads are a combination of running board reinforcements and foot traction "treads" that you install on your running boards. I have a set installed on my MXZX 440. They are made from aluminum and are rivited and screwed in place as a permanent part of the sled. They make running boards really solid. I can jump up and down on them and the running board doesn't even flex. If you are not racing, jumping, or very aggressive on the trails, you don't need them. They are also not cheap, coming in around $180-200. You can learn more by going to www.roxsledtreads.com or by contacting the manufacturer: Cutsforth Products 37837 Rock Haven Road Cohasset, MN 55721 218-326-8263. Here is also a picture of them.

Rox Sledtreds are the best thing that ever happened to the older style running boards. Have some on the 00 mxz and they help alot.
