even better instead of waisting the oil, burn that tank down untill there is only an inch or so left then add your amsoil. castrol is fine oil to use i have used it for years and its priced right.

This is what I would do, but like FB said you can dump it in anytime and it will mix fine.

The only oil combination I'm aware of that you can't mix is Ipone with Amsoil.
The 2 simply will not mix and could result in you becoming the brunt of many online jokes involving a turkey baster. I don't know if Ipone will mix with any other oils.

Having done it before with no ill effects, I am curious about the reason?

FWIW, from Amsoil's site:

It is recommended wherever JASO FC or API TC two-cycle oils are specified. INTERCEPTOR is a premium quality replacement for recreational equipment manufacturers' branded two-cycle oils. It is compatible with most mineral and synthetic two-cycle oils, however, for best performance, mixing oils should be minimized.[/b]

"however ,for best performance" blah blah blah over course they will put that in there as they are selling their product

If its a TWC JASO FB FC FD API rated 2 smoke it will mix

BTW I ran 10w30GTX last year when I was in a bind for 40miles :p

better then no oil and had to get home

Though I did drain it after the ride and put fresh Bardahl

BTW I ran Castrol in my 583

17,098kms and still 140psi without a rebuild

so do not be affraid of using Castrol

My rave valves had little residue and never got stuck

Should be fine

like I said they will mix :)

Hey Folks,

I'm new here, but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth. Mixing shouldn't be a problem, although if there are relatively large amounts of your "non favorite" oil, it will compromise the qualities of your "favortie" to some degree.

Cheers

140 psi is that what i should look out for when doing a compression test?

ya about that anything over 130 and under 150 should be fine for the 583 as all gauges read slightly diferent

just make sure that they are within 5psi of each other
