Would love to own one, but not in Canada.

Have shot many styles of M-16s in the past but don't own one. If I were to buy a gun similiar to those, I would go with an SKS, which I do own.
The M-16 is a decent gun, but is not practical for anything accept a good conversation piece. At least with the SKS you can hunt with it....
Why are you thinking of getting one anyway?

Fishhog, whats up with Canada and owning guns ? I would like to have an AR-15 or M-16 too, I would get either a Bushmaster or a Colt, I do own an SKS It's fun and cheap to shoot, better get one soon because thats what that nut case in Maryland has been running around shooting people with, the gun control folks will have AR-15's banned before you know it.

Hey bartman, actually he has been shooting people with a .223, nobody knows what gun he is shooting it thru. Lots of guns are chambered for .223. But you are right, this is just the kind of thing that will get guns banned, regardless of the fact that the guy is a psychopathic killer, and banning the AR-15 wouldn't stop a determined killer. ???

You can hunt with a M-16 same as a AR-15! If it can hunt a human, than it surly can kill a deer.

For some dumb reason our politicians in canada make it a pain
for people who use there guns for hunting and sport shooting.I mean
come on when was the last time a hunter used his registered 12-gauge
to go hold up the local quickie mart ??? It's the criminals with the illegal
and unregistered firearms who are commitin the crime. They need crime
control not gun control for honest citizens

I'll second that z800rtx :yee: :yee:

The other week on the second day of partridge season, I'm walking along a road in the Ganaraska Forest. I hear voices ahead of me where 2 trails meet. Much to my surprise it's 7 Durham Regional cops out training in navigation. I've got my Remington 1100 & a blaze orange bird vest on. Never asked me anything about the gun or asked for any papers :D

In Canada even if your gun is scary looking is restricted.......No hand guns for average citizen unless you are grandfathered or have a restricted ticket. I have a Tika 270 but have yet to kill anything yet

Ya, gun control, what a joke. I don't recall ever hearing of any noted criminals going to their local PD and requesting a purchase permit and applying for a CCW.

Thats exactly the point, but for some reason the Canadian Gov't has spent in the range of 1 Billion dollars, to ensure that all legit gun owners register all their guns.

All restricted (hand guns) already have to be registered, but now they want Grandpa's old 12 gauge registed also, not to mention any muzzleloaders (lots of crimes commited with them I'm sure) and even a pellet gun that's greater than 500fps.

What a joke.

Our poor excuse for a prime minister is an embarassment to
the entire country.I've never seen such a tool in all my life. The
man cannot give a straight answer and then add all the other
no-brained bleeding heart politicians and we are screwed

The gun control debate never ceases to raise my blood pressure.

Anyway, to the original question: I have an original Colt AR15, 1970 vintage. It was virgin when I got it. They're great rifles and very accurate. I can easily keep a 4" group at 150 yards with iron sights. If you have the $ I'd be looking at one of the newer hybrids. There have been quite a few improvements over the standard military design.

I had no idea that Canada had such strict gun laws, I thought ours were bad, I better go buy something before some politician down here gets some ideas.
