I just got my comet clutch and now I need to "calibrate" it to my sled. They give you their recommendations, which are based on a stock sled. On this page (http://www.hoffcocomet.com/comet/industries-snowmobiles.asp)
they have the recomendations, as well as the specs for the cam arms and springs they recommend. My question is, how much should I vary from their recomendations? My sled has dynoport pipe and can, v3 reeds, looks like some porting was done, I haven't checked the gearing yet but it seems slower on top end than other 800s, so I think someone dropped a tooth or two on the top sprocket.

*For 108 4-Pro, add weight of 3 cam arms used in EXP or other 3 post clutch, plus 14% and divided by 4. This is the new cam arm weight for the 4-Pro.

comet AC ramps are around 57 grams.

So the poo 10-54 are a little bit heavier than the comet formula weight, compensating for the extra power you have. This is just a starting point.

Reply when you have tried this or adjust the setup as needed.

The 4-post is a great clutch. I would maybe recomend a call to someone like Greg Goodwin (Goodwin Perf) or The Crank Shop, they could probably dial you in right close with their notes.

Never ran a flyweight clutch on a 800 Doo, I know with a 3 post clutch on the 800 Cats, weights are approx. 72 grams a piece, about 220gr total, I would take that divide by 4 and start there. What is that, 58gr or so.

The Comet/Cat/Polaris style clutch is more of a spring tuning clutch. Unfortunately, you are just going to have to test the waters on this one. I would stick with the Polaris weights though (10-57, 10-59, etc....) I have always had great luck with them no matter what application.

An advantage to the 4 post is that you can get "in-between" weigts as you can run 54 gr on 2 of the pins, and 56 on the other 2.

Thanks for the responses so far guys. I still haven't done anything with it yet. Hopefully I can doo everything before it's time to ride.

Sparky are you running a twin or a tripple 800? My settings were for a tripple.

SWTE--Are the 72 gram weights (AC 800) in a Twin?

In playing with a t-cat last year the 10-66's were just to much weight. Ended up lighter I think around 10-62's.
Spring was a 140/320.

Yea, ran Polaris 72gr on a 01 800 Cat ZR (twin) with a Goodwin Purple Primary spring (145/310) but again, this is for 3 weights not 4.

Also, the ZR8 is happy at 7400rpm, Tcat up around 8300
