Naa we tried to tell him he had to take a bite of the liver, but he didn't buy that.. we did make him gut it , drag it to the truck (with help) and he had to skin it and cut out the backstrap... He didin't mind that at all.. :dazed:

Wow very nice buck young man. I remember my first buck and deer like it was yesterday.

MY first deer was a very nice doe which I got back 8 years ago when I was 11. She just walked right out to me and I took her down with a Remington 270. The excitment wasn't all that good the first 11 days of hunting for I only saw does with phawns. WE never take a doe with a phawn or a phawn as we know someday it will be a big deer. But when I was her by herself I was like Exitment rush to the head.

My first buck came just last year as I went out with a fellow that hunts by himself and he invited me to go along with him. We could here people shooting all day the first 2 days and they where quite a wase of to the west. The 3rd day we where thinking of moving down some to the west to see if we could get a shot at something before the other hunters in the area did. Thank God we didn't we stuck it out.

That day it was really cold, a cold front had pushed in over night and there was snow on and off all day sometime the snow was really heavy I couldn't see my hunting buddy that was only 100 yards away. Right after one snow storm pushed through I started hearing guns shots and they were close, in fact only 300 yards away. As the gang to the west had moved down to the east. The guns shots kept ringing off but we couldn't hear any that sounded like a hit. So we hoped they missed. After that all I remember is a massive 160lbs 6 point buck come running down the hill stright at me. I quickly shouldered my 30.06 leaver action (Brand new gun at the time) and put the crossairs over its heart. Pulling the trigger and watching the deer do some front flips down the rest of the hill. Later got to clean it and drag it to the truck and had some help loading it and hanging it back at the house.

It was a day I will never forget, as you young man shouldn't, remeber it and chariche it aswell.

Sadly this past Saturday morning by hunting buddy was found dead in his house. He had a massive heart attack, he wasn't doing good for the last little while hard times breathing and stuff. This will make me remember my first buck that much more.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend, I am sure his spirit will remain on your future hunting trips..
My Dad taught me to hunt and snowmobile as a young lady... He was killed 7 years ago, but I know he goes on each hunting and riding trip..
