On a 1984 polaris indy 400 l/c is it ok to just remove the bottle, cap the line, and then just pre-mix? or are there problems that are going to happen if i do this? valves?
not sure.... but when i bought it... it doesn't seem like it is using the oil as much as it should... ( there is so much oil left in the tank when the gas tank is almost empty.) On that old of a sled i would much rather know that oil is getting in there than open it up and blow a piston.

The pump has some moving parts in it that are lubed by the oil flowing through it, if I remember right. To do it right you need to remove the drive gear.

I hate fixing stuff that's not broke though. If it seems to be running ok, there's likely nothing wrong with it. If it being ridden at trail speeds, it's going to use a quart or less of oil every 100-120 miles. If' it's just putting around a field or something, it could be living happy on a lot less than that......
