I have a 2006 renegade 800 ptek. It seems to run a bit lean at low speeds (under 30 mph) It chugs and almost pings. It also likes to stay on a high idle when come to a stop. Flip the choke for one second and rpm's drop. Also need to half throttle to start when warm. Are these things all characteristic or is there a problem? Thanks for any advise.

This is a very common problem. I assume BRP has done it this way for emmison purposes but what you need to do is changed the pilots from 17.5's up to #20's. I per carb so get 2 of them. You may need to turn the fuel screw out a total of 2 turns as well. Not 2 more turns but a total of 2 turns out from lightly seated. This should clear things up.
As for the high idle. I hate to tell you this but it just seems like thats the way it is. Pretty hard to get rid of it.
Now as for the starting or hard starting when warm. Make sure your carb heaters are shut off unless it is really cold. Thats usually the root cause.

Thanks for the help. That all seems to make sense.
