I have about 10500 kms on MXZ X 800 05. I did a over haul on skid frame. Every thing looked good until i took the main springs off and noticed a bit of play in front arm ,took that apart and upper and lower bushing were gone.It just got worse from that point on.Bushing in rear arm were gone also, along with 3 shafts .Anything that moved was worn out,had to just about replace everything. Also had the 4 shocks rebuild.Grand total 1975 dollars can, part of that is new 1.250 ripsaw track and 4 new bearing for drive and jack shaft and new drive chain.I guess its cheaper than a new sled. Here a picture of all the wore out parts from the skid frame.

Had you done any maintenance for the past two seasons? I'm afraid of what I might find on my SC-4 that has almost 10,000km on it now.

Alot of money. Your sled should ride better then new :D
I see you are new to SW & from Ontario. Welcome to SW . I lived in Whitby for 18 years then I moved north. Not much but a little closer to the snow SWRules

I know some of the parts don't get grease, but did you grease it after every ride? I have an 05 with almost 5000 miles on it. I hope it's wearing a bit better.

There is some stuff that cannot be greased. Thats why I take the skid out every year, remove them parts & put grease on them. I also do that with the ski bushings in the knuckles SWRules

I'm aware of the fact that you can't grease all of the parts. I was just asking if the skid ahd been greased after every ride. I see that the shafts that get grease are even worn badly.

With low temp lithium grease after every ride. Some of the shafts i replaced were only down about 12 thou, but thats alot of play. Once you replace shaft ,you have to replace bushing ,once you replace bushing you have to replace the next thing it is attach to Is that 5000 miles or kms.

Yep I know what you mean. I use to let the dealer service my sled, then I found out that they don't remove your skid. You can't grease sum things with the skid in the sled. One thing that I can remember is the frt skid bolts. There is bushings there but no grease fittings. :dazed:

My skid was coming out soon anyway. Replacing center shock with one from 440X machine. Also need some track clips.
I had it out last winter and wear was minimal. I think I'll see if there is a good way to install grease zerks in some other places like the front bushings.

That's 5000 miles.

No A-arm bushing in that picture, but i do have to replace arm bushing and if i replace them than i will have to replace bushings also. When i took shock off (no load on suspenion) thats when things started to get ugly.Lower ball joints gone, so if i have to replace them than it only makes sence to replace upper joints.See what i mean its starting all over agian with the front end now. Also have to replace sway bar ends and LH and RH slider halfs. That should only be about 350 dollars. When does it stop!!!!! I guess i really cant compliant,I got 2 years with no major bills

Ugh... I'm not sure I'm keeping my sled yet, but if I do, I'll be pulling my skid out to see what's going on. More than 5000 miles on mine.
