to steal a few good riders from cat the polaris guys must have had something good in the kitchen, i hope for them.

It bug's me when people say its the same old Polaris just because the hood and belly pan look the same.

Are you really sold by plastic?

I like the trailing arm suspension oh boy!! I guess AC & now 'doo & Yami don't know what they're 'dooing going to A arm suspensions.

More like the new Cat rearend...the snowflap area is not cluttered enough to be that of a REV.

Looks like the current polaris just with a tall seat and handlebars. I hope theres more that goes along with that.

Yep, lots more to go along... like wider running boards ;)

Which sled was announced or produced first? The RX-1, REV, or Firecat?

Sorry if this is off topic of this discussion, I'm just seeing alot of people compare the sleds to this "new" Polaris model.

Thanks

If you want to get technical the Polaris NXR was a before all of them!! The NXR was a concept sled that photos started to surface this spring about. It was done in '95 and a lot of people said that Polaris was trying to copy the Rev. Well according to the Doo sit ethe Rev started as a concept sled in '97 so Pol beat them to that one and I believe the RX-1 concept (style wise) was around '97 or '98. As far as the Firecat goes I only see a small resemblance; ie.. hood, track, skis, motor, and so on (I think you know what I mean). Otherwise there is not a resemblance at all to the Cat (Thank God!!).
Just because Doo brought the Rev out first doesn't mean they came up with the concept first. I think Polaris has something ready but were planning on keeping it for the 50th anniversary ('04 Models) and got caught with their pants down, figuratively speaking of course.

Here is a picture of the NXR if you are unfamiliar with it. I am not trying to start something but want to make sure the facts are out there before people start judging and saying someone is copying the design of someone else.

Even I would like to see Polaris come out w/something new. It just keeps everything exciting and all brands forced to improve their products when everyone is bringing out new ideas. Come on Polaris, show us something really new.

it's still an old sled. but i do believe like i said earlier that polaris has something in the kitchen because they stole a few good riders from other camps. so they must have shown these riders what they have hidden, think about it every racer no matter what the money wants to ride into the winners circle.

Myers Racing Inc

I have a sneaky feeling that there will be something for this race season but only for the Pro's. Kick but Mod Sled maybe??? :sarcasm:

Looking back, 'doo you think Blair would have gone to Ski-doo if the Open class sled was just a ZX chassis w/ a big motor? IMO, no. The races knowing what AC & 'doo would be racing this winter, wouldn't want to race on "old" technology. But the Firecat & REV each have a race season under their belts. How much new unproven stuff is on the ProX?

Thanks for the info. I don't care much for Cat so I don't follow them much but as I said before, "I don't see any resemblence to the Firecat with the new Pro X besides that they both have motors, track, hood, etc..."

thats too funny...is that the first time you have seen a concept drawing? everyone has them..autos, bikes, sleds etc.. the nxr drawing is not even close to the real production rev...gee get a grip... you should see some of my drawings from the 70s....dang i invented alot of things.. lets face it polaris will have a sled based off the rev... :blahblah:

That is a pretty nice sled, it just looks like last years X just that is has a screwed up seat, I'm sure the Ski-doo X-team isn't gonna be very jealous with this :

i don't know about some of you guys but the pro-x old??pull your head out of your ###.that 4 model years how can that be old tech.the egde chassis was considered high tech 4 years ago but now its out of date .i think anyone that thinks that is nuts .this sled stuff tech crap is getting out of hand if you ask me .the zx chassis 4 years old was the 2002 mx-zx 440 considered out dated last winter i doubt it or even the sno-pro NO!!.you guys think everything is old and out dated because of the rev and firecat its not get real.instead of typing crap like that stop and think about it for a minute.polaris has something coming and its not because they are copying someone else its because manufactures try to perfect there sleds(except cat)before they release them to the public.second if they release it next year they will be a year ahead of everyone else with there tech.then i quess the rev and firecat will be old news next year??according to some anyways

I am not bashing here but what is Polaris' problem. They make tons of money on their sleds, why can't they come up with some inovative ideas for their front end? It seems like it hasn't changed much in 20 years.

WickedWiesel
10-26-2002, 10:05 AM
Ski-doo has the rev,Cathas the new sno pro/firecat,Yamaha has the rx 1 and Polaris has the new ...............what?Don't get me wrong,I like Polaris. If I wasn't riding a cat I'ld be riding a polaris, butwhat are they thinking.Compared to everyone else what they have looks old.No matter what you think anteater appearances mean alot to peiple buying a new sled,so if it doen't look new it isn't.

anteater

i'm sure polaris has something in the works, and now from all the pressure they are recieving they will bring something new to the table soon, the problem is maybe to soon.because of all the pressure for something new they might push something out to the public that isn't ready.or perfected.which bottom line will cost us the guiney pigs valuable riding time and money because of down time for repaires because the sled was released to the public too soon because of pressure from the media ,customers, and the head honcho's at polaris demanding a new sled pushing the enginners and designers to hard.i would rather see it released in a year or to when it is perfect and ready for the consumer.so every one chill out and give them a break .the sled is coming just give it time

I am not trying to start a brand bash. I am going to be racing Polaris this year I have rode polaris pretty much all my life on the I read that the racers are saying that polaris told them they are coming out with a mod race sled for the pros to test like ski-doo did last season about half way through the season. I just bought a 2002 Pro X 440 liquid that sled was stronger then any sno-pro or mxz x. The 02 pro x 440 lc put out about 105 hp i heard from racers, the 02 sno-pro only put out 99 hp my 2000 440 edge xc sp race sled put out close to that 99 hp and thats 2 years older the an the 02 sno-pros. I am not trying to start a bash here I guess we will have to wait and see all manufactures have there up's and downs. Hopefully they do come out with this new mod.

That was a 440. Maybe they have a Open Class sled up their sleeve :sly:  Nobody knew anything about the REV untill Duluth.

ProXracing
11-03-2002, 10:07 PM
Thats what some racers told me they were told that it would be halfway through the season hopefully sooner they might be just saying mid season just make sure the have it ready on time because would not want a to say a certain date not have it ready. Hopefully this true.

The comment I've heard (somewhere) is "When Polaris releases this new sled we'll all forget about the REV/Firecat/RX-1".

My guess is we'll see a preview of what's coming in a couple weeks in Duluth (Open Mod) and a consumer version to follow.

I'm no Poo fan but I'm willing to cut them a break and wait and see how they respond to all the trashing they've taken this summer and fall.

I have heard through the grape vine that the Pol mod sled is going to be tube molly. Will have to wait and see.....only a few weeks until Duluth!!!

I'm sure whatever Polaris races for snoX this year will become their All-new 2004 Model, just like 'doo and cat did--they race these radically advanced sleds and the next year you get your Firecat and Rev.
