hi all my 99 xc500sp's lights intermitently go to half brillance then back to full on.
now i have checked the wiring front to back many times cleaned grd. wires checked all mult-plugs cleaned them too, but still having the same problem.
now could this be the voltage regulator or stator or is there a lighting coil somewhere on the seld i need to change????
have any of you out there had this problem? help please any input would be helpful. thanx cboo62

the voltage regulator might be bad. or the wires exiting the cases by the stator.

I read you have checked your wiring front to back, but still betting you have a short caused by something wearing through the wire insulation. Betting problem is located somewhere under the seat. I would pull the seat and inspect wires carefully for signs of rubbed off insulation allowing wire(s) to short to tunnel.

I am also having this exact same problem on my 2000 600 XC Deluxe. Did you find out what it was?

I had this problem on an Arctic Cat Jag a few years ago. The lights would dim intermittanly with no pattern. Turned out to be the voltage regulator. Before I replaced it the battery would end up dead after a long ride. If you have electric start on the sled, start it up, rev to 3000 rpm's and see what your voltage across the battery terminals is. It should be 13+. If its any less you probably need a regulator.

hi. sounds like your voltage regulator. i have a 1995 indy 500 did the exact same thing. changed the voltage regulator bingo works perfect.
