If something seems too good to be true ..... than it is! This is the fist time I have seen this one. Scares me to think about the people that bite on these. Not to generalize but old retired people that send a check for everything they have left becuase they think they have won something just erks me. I wish there was a way to get back at these people but they won't even get a slap on the wrist.

What a world we live in -

Done ranting - thanks for posting idooski !

TOO FUNNY! THe prize is from Microsoft, but they give a yahoo e-mail address to contact, and they don't give a phone number or physical address.

I really wonder how many people get conned by this sort of thing.

Here's some scam identifier and or fighting websites.....

http://home.rica.net/alphae/419coal/fighters.htm

Snopes has more than just scam identfiers (http://www.snopes.com)

419 eater (http://www.419eater.com/html/links.htm)

The 419 eater site is funny. They contact the scammers and mess with them. Scam the scammers I guess.

You would be surprised how many people I see at work that do fall for these. The most common is a company from somewhere in Africa will send you a check and all you have to do is cash it and Western Union them back half of the money. You keep the other half for a fee. Next thing you know a week later the check bounces and now the bank holds you responsible since you signed the back of the check. We see this with some elderly people but a lot more younger people who are down on their luck and don't have much to begin with, they always say they didn't know they would have to be responsible for the check. The other problem is that the police at the state and local level don't have the means to doing anything about this as it takes place over seas.
