I was told that a yellow clutch spring should be a bit of a hop up on my sled, is this true? What color would you suggest i have a 1.25 x force track on it and need some more top end rpm.

no. its a vicious rumor. its not even made for a polaris clutch and it coil binds. its no improvement over a silver blue spring.

it all depends on how many rpm's you want to raise it, and how many lbs your primary spring has at 1 1/4." for example I have an 86 indy trail 488, original spring was red/white, I changed to an EPI Orange primary and the extra 20 or so lbs less at 1 1/4" raised my top rpms by 200-300.

Maybe just use the next tighter hole with the spring you have now? For instance go from hole#2 to #3?

You need snap ring pliers, and the helix will be under pressure, when you take it out keep the spring pushed into the helix so that you know what positions it was in.

make sure you have a decent pair of snap ring pliers. crappy pairs will just bend because the snap ring is fairly thick and kind of a pain to get off. while everything is apart clean the clutch and check the buttons and helix for normal wear. when i changed my helix, the buttons were all worn out and the helix was grooved up pretty bad. if your helix has grease rings inside, make sure you grease them for prolonged life of the helix. Good Luck. Chris
