Bought this last year, 3300km,vforce 3's,136 track, 1"lug, 144studs. Not familiar with the TRA(used to be a cat man). At midrange I can really feel the clutch shift from 45-50mph. The thing is a rocket out of corners. Then at WOT it seems like the sled just drops off. I noticed that the primary gets hot after a long run, secondary is fine(luke warm). After a few hundred miles, I need to change the belt.(notice vibration and slip at start) Went through two belts, clutches are in line.
Before this season begins, I want to correct the problem. I have not taken the clutches appart yet.
After reading Joe's clutching IQ(my mind is in overload) I think that I should lower the primary clicker, or change to a progressive helix.

Am I close??

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

If your primary is getting real hot that tells me that the belt is slipping in it. Changing to a different clicker setting may not remove this condition....same with the helix. What clicker setting are you running at right now, what is your max rpms...by this I mean from a standstill and you wack the throttle what do the rpms flash to and then stay at ?...what is your engagment rpm's....have the clutches ever been rebuilt...is there a clucth kit in there now ?...

primary not pushing hard enough. change your primary spring. you are not shifting properly.

I would pull the primary spring out and see if it has taken too much of a set. If its an 01 and its never been changed, I would be willing to bet you need a new primary spring (probably secondary as well). I change my 01 800 MXZ clutch springs every year (and clean the clutches) so I know the clutches are working properly.

Then at WOT it seems like the sled just drops off.[/b]
But what exactly is it doing at WOT?
Are the rpms correct but the track speed starts to fall off?
Do the rpms dance around ?

check your pullys for siezed or worn out parts im just going through the same problem (4 belts in one ride, stopping in the middle of a semi frozen lake doesent fit the plan) clutch is dirty but good, secondary is kinda rusty with worn helix and slider shoes.
