Okay guys any help would be appreciated, I have a 01 mxz 800 clutched, pipped, can, force 3 reeds. to cut to the chase i,m 6,3" 545 lbs and love to sled. you would think i,d rather set at home and whatch tv but i,m pretty active and i love to sled what i,m looking to do is of course build suspension. I know there is no suspension designed to deal with this weight (other then a d9 cat) so any ideas would help.the sled has a 121 inch track soon to be 136 for a bigger foot print, it has hpg,s rebuilt last year i just got the heavy sjidoo chassis springs, I love to ride trails and feilds but last year believe it or not i was catching some decent air(for me) i just have to pick my landings well i,m definetly not a big air guy but love to ride ,Any enginering ideas would make my day a new sled is out of the financial question but building this one isn,t out of the question.

do you have room to put a coil over shock on as well as the hd torsion springs in the rear ? just an idea .I know fast inc`s m10 gives a great ride and they sell some very hd springs for that suspension .I`m 225 and I have a spring from them for my m10 that just jumping on the sled I can bearly budge it an inch .they have a new setup as well that uses an air shock for the rear where you can dial in the rate you want ...come to think about it if you could find a fox float shock (thats another air shock ) with the proper eye to eye distance .you could dial in some more spring rate .hope this helps and good luck .let us know what you come up with and btw welcome to the site ... hers a few ideas to go with what you guys have already.i think the 136 will be a good idea and the heavy torsion springs are great. I think snofrogs idea about adding a spring on the rear rear shock may help but i dont know if it will work. here my ideas. first make sure the suspension is set up for max coupling and lest transfer. this will help alot if it not already done. to do this adjust you scissors stop to the highest setting. not put you torsion springs to the highest setting and increase the preload on the front rear suspension shock to. my second idea i think you should so if this isnt enough, add a clicker to the rear rear shock hers a place that does it

there are also many other places that do it to

Hey Heavy,

One of my best friends has a similar situation (he's 400+)

When he is up he rides my '96 mxz 583 because it has the best suspension of my sleds.

Last year we figured out a solution to switching from my weight (190) to his.

I had a friend machine new torsion spring adjusters ( the low/med./high cam adjustment)
We added a lot of height to the cams, the new low is similar to the old medium (my trail setting), new medium is my ditchbanging/ jumping setting, and the new high is about right for his riding.

You could also make new guides for the lower end of the torsion spring to help out, but raising these too much will alter angle that the spring slides in and will alter your ride.

Scince you are going to long track it look at skids from 2-up sleds I would expect them to have heavier springs and they will be in the length you are looking for.

Thanks for the imput guys all good ideas:

I,ve currently got hpg shocks on the sled fronts have the extra gas cyclinder. what do you think of a set of new rear ohlins re valved for max dampening ? (center and rear) is it money well spent? i can buy both shocks new for around 500.00 for both new and 70 each to get them revalved to max dampining. North East Indiana here and missed the snow in 12 01 storm hoping south mich got some I,m just itchin to get cold and a sore butt :D

well if you wnat to spend the money it is worth it. ohlins shocks are one of the best and if you get resevoirs with them you can really vavle them high so id say its not a bad idea
