: 05 Polaris Fusion 900
slushrider 11-29-2006, 09:38 PM SWRules I am looking at buying a 05 fusion 900( NEW noncurrent) for a good deal, well to me it is. Is there any thing BAD I should know about these sled's. I know there were a buntch of recal's( it never left the dealer so it should have them done right ?) My old sled is a 96 XCR 600,ported,piped,carbed,clutched...the work's. It's WAY up there in milage and seem's to be nickle and dimeing me :cussing: . Will the 05 900 kick the crap out of my XCR ? Are the 900's fast, like F-7 fast. I know there are better sled's and a 900 is probly a little over kill for a trail sled but I like speed and power. Any one know what the top end speed is, how about the horse power rateing. I know it's a big sled but do they JUMP and cornner like my 96 XCR.... I am just trying to find out a little more before I buy, there's no snow so I can't test ride one. :D PS is $6000 out the door(tax, prep, setup and regerstaion included) a GOOD deal....this sled has 0 mile's and has never left the dealer's showroom floor. I couldn't find a NEW 600 or 700 for any where near this price :bash: . I am shopping by price and bang for my buck.

The polaris 900 had a lot of issues. For starters the 05 900 has only one fuel injector, while the 06's had 2. This was because the 2005's had issues with low end to mid pull. the solution was a second injector on the 2006 models this also increased fuel economy (according to polaris). The other issue was that the chassis wasn't able to handle the vibration from the large bore motor and it rattled the chassis loose. While there are aftermarket kits to reduce this from (slp), it doesn't make a person too positive on buying one. If your looking for the long run performance from a sled with good resale value I would say don't make the mistake on buying this machine. I only say this from all the reviews i've read, and i love polaris sleds, but they really F'd up on this one in my opinion. My grandfather always told me you get what you pay for, and the only reason this sled is so cheap right now is cuz no one wants em. (sorry its the truth) If you want a sick trail sled and demand polaris go for the a 2006 fusion 600 (if u can get a good deal on it, and it justifys buying a slp pipe, reeds and ski spindles) O yeah and if you can tune a sled to your liking. otherwise think about the 07 iq 600's either carbed or cfi. The carbed have more options for aftermarket motor add ons(slp), while the cfi are no hassle pull n go. they are more reasonable 7000 to 8000 new. Hope this helps, and this is just my opinion.. so take it for what its worth.. But do your research before you buy, you owe it to yourself for 6 G's .
Pol900 11-30-2006, 06:31 AM Go for it I got plenty of miles on mine and still love it. People always got plenty to say and don't even own one.

idooski 11-30-2006, 06:53 AM The 05 900's are definitely a good deal right now. I friend of mine just bought one for $5400 OTD. Sure they had some issues, but most of them have gotten blown out of proportion. That's more than $3000 less than what I paid for my '05 MXZX 800. I say, if that's what you want, it's a great deal.
FUSION900PA 12-02-2006, 03:42 PM Most of the problems have been worked out with the updates. SOme people had many problems with the 05 fusion and many had zero problems. I have had absolutely zero problems with my sled and i ride it pretty hard. I think some of the problems that people had and complained about were before the updates were available.
There are some problems that can't be fixed due to the engineering of the sled, such as 1 injector per cylinder (06's have 2 per cylinder to help fuel economy), the secondary was lowered three inches to decrease belt pull angle and some suspension changes front and back.
This sled does pull really hard up to 100 but kind of dies off. It was mentioned earlier that it didn't pull hard!! w00t Some people have reached 120 bone stock and others have only reached 105-112. I think it is primarily set up. From reading what sled you have and what you have done to it, you shouldn't have a problem getting this sled to run like you want.
The suspension is second to none. It is incredible what it will soak up!!
Look into buying an aftermarket intake to mainly help keeping the clutches cool.
If you can, compare some prices of an 06 fusion 900. This sled is definitely faster stock than the 05.
I would say too that the internet has definitely been the killer of the fusion name. It really is a great sled but it did have some growing pains.
Pepsi_fuzz 12-07-2006, 01:56 PM One thing to remember: the Fusion had the most bizarre look Polaris came up with in awhile (in comparison to the other models being offered) yet Polaris spent a lot of time trying to market them. This said, of course any problems along the way were eaten up and spit back at them by the media. I've put over 900 miles on mine now, and still consider myself a newbe to the snowmobile world. But I have given this sled all I can, I've jumped landing straight up on the rear of the track, landing completely squish with all the blow on the left ski, and no repairs have been made to the sled yet. Not one. It takes only a few seconds (believe me, you wont have time to count) to go from 0 to 90 mph in fluff on a bog. Ideally though, It's a good ditch banger. I've had a lot of problems with understeering. If ya go fast, she goes straight. If you slow down too fast, she follows whatever rut might exist. You should end up with an excellent ride for someone who wants to feel their guts in their throat but might not have the courage to push a machine beyond their personal limits anyway.
I've never heard of chassis problems with any Fusion. I think it's myth based on people saying "it shakes so much, the chassis will fall apart". A statement made by people who've never owned a Fusion. (Actually, I thought the new IQ had the same chassis? Just steering and suspension adjustments?)
Again, I payed full price for my '05 Fusion 900, and if I had my time back, I'd do it again. I think my next investment will be bar risers :)

I agree with what you said. So much media was covering the sled that when it did show signs of weakness everybody found out about it quickly.
The 05 does push in the turns, but my next purchase will be C & A Razor skis.
