my driven clutch is out of alignment by about 1/8 inch on my 2000 formula dlx 700.
I stopped in at the ski doo dealer and he said that that is a shimless design and tells me not to shim, but to move the engine side to side!!!
I only need two shims on the inside of the driven pully would that be terrible to shim or not??

hey,
looking at the diagram, i'd say align the engine, it is a splined shaft and it is suppose to sit tight against the splined end. BUT two Shims SHOULD NOT be a big deal, on the other hand i would hate to see you f'up your chaincase because you used the shims.

I purchsed the 2000 shop manual and in there it showes spacers on the inside of the secondary so i think i will just leave it and check it often.
You mention that I could f'up the chaincase? Do you mean the splined end of the jack shaft?
Let me know I still have time to fix before the snow!!!!!!!!!!

this is the problem as i'd see it,
if you add shims to the back of the clutch, it may not bottom out on the splined shaft, as you fighten the bolt that holds the clutch on it will start to pull the upper sprocket into the upper chaincase bearing (Side Loading), the bearing is not designed to handle that type of load or only a very low amout of it, it COULD cause the bearing to fail and POSSABLY grenade the chaincase. i ain't no ingineer or sled tech so take that warning for what it's worth.

I will take the warning and do some research before I take off down the trail.
Thanks for the warning ...
