Ok I haven't found the pics I wanted yet, but I still have a couple of nooks and cranny's to rumage through so there will be more on the way. This started in the mountain/powder riding catagory so hopefully UPrider will add to this topic with his xlt vs. tree. A deal is a deal.

most of the time the trees will win the battle but not the war, because the next time i go in the woods after an encounter i take the Sour Paw, and timber :hallo4:

OK, 700 Rat, a deal is a deal, here are my pics from My XLT vs. Red Pine
:hallo1:

First one is live action of me pulling it out of the tree... amazingly it was still running when I got up to it.

As a bonus, here are some pics of a 440 sport vs a Jackpine. As you can see, it didn't fare much better than the XLT. My best friend did this one for me, he was borrowing it at the time ???

Amazingly enough, both sleds ran well enough to drive them out of the woods. Obviously both had some steering issues to deal with, but they were both drivable.

I think I rode 12 miles that day after that. Back to the trailer. Steering to the right, ok steering to the left not so good. :nervous:

i guess it doesn't matter what kind of tree it is, it beats up on a sled

What are friends for...wrecking your sled like that!!

Rode w/some guys last yr from Indiana, and one of them smacked his Yammi square into a 6x6 gate post leaving an airport field. Didn't touch the skis at all, put the post right between them. Body damaged, pipe kinked almost completely closed, and pushed back to where brake disk kept grinding on pipe. We all took turns jumping on the front end and tried to kick the pipe back a little. Ended riding that sled for about another 10 miles or so 'til we got to a friends place.

Pick and choose your trees wisely!! :hallo4:

My beloved Olympique.. after hitting an "invisible" stump pretruding from the top of the lake at night.

I flew 50 feet.. and luckily missed all the other stumps "mine field". First thing I said to my buddy after getting up... are there any others on this lake?!!!

This was a reliable sled.. total money put into it... green paint for the skiis.

Good to see some other brave photographers out there who have lived to tell their story. Yes it does hurt, but it feels good to get back on your sled after you've spent about 40 hours in your garage tearing things apart and putting them back together. My 2000 xc700sp did real good after that. 1600 miles last year after reassembling it. I can't stress enough, the importance of owning a good pneumatic rivet gun. Oh, I'm still looking for my pictures. SWRules

40below0, as that sled totalled? :0: Man, glad to see you guy are alright. I have a buddy that clipped a tree at 25-30 mph messed him up big time, shattered anelbow and spun him around and broke the scapula (shoulder blade) on the other side, doc sad not many people survive that as it is a big bone packed inside muscle. It was petty rough, imagine not have the use of either one of your arms. Thanks God he was married . Kevin

Didn;t look like it hurt the tree much, did a tree hugger run out and give that poor hurt tree a big hug and kiss then, sorry about the bad luck, when we where out in idaho we had a polaris go over the side off a mountain, only hit one tree on the way down, we managed to ride it out after a few hours.

Yes I was thankful that I flew straight ahead over the handle bars. I missed several other stumps that were spread out.

Unfortunately it was at night, on a lake, I was following friends ahead who were leaving some snow mist, I turned a little off the path they were taking and just remember leaving my sled and rolling.

The worst part of the whole situation, is after we stared at the beast smoking a bit, we dragged it up onto shore and headed back. The next day at around 1:00pm, going to retrieve it and someone actually looted it, took the carbs ??? they even took the dang spark plugs!!

Here is a Picture of a Artic Cat that Tried to run Wide open across a unfamiliar Potato Field, not knowing the Farmer had cut a road through the field. This guy found the new road a little too late, launched Straight towards the Sky and when this sled finally fell to earth, it wasn't a pretty sight. This seld tumble numerous times end over end. Upon examination, I coundn't find a piece of the sled that wasn't bent....

New Sled, No Insurance... After a trip to the Emergency Room, the guy found he was only badly bruised and pretty banged up. But nothing broken, except his sled and pocket book.. :(

Still haven't found the pic's I wanted to but not giving up. Here's one from the following weekend. That's me on the left in red, riding the black 500.
If you look closely at the mxzx you will see some damage to the front end.
His tree was about six feet to the right of mine and smaller. Stay tuned and keep em coming. :p

An itty bitty Lumina did that to a big bad built ford tough truck, WOW quite a testiment to GM's slogan "like a rock" cause it sure looks like that Ford hit a bloody boulder.
