I decided to change the look of my REV this year along with dropping some weight. I'm still not done with it. I don't like the old shock covers with the new look. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with the windshield that's on it either. I'm more of a mid-height kind of guy. I have a different windshield coming. I'll just have to see which one looks best. If I stay with the shorty, I'll put the hand guards back on.

Here's the old look.

Here is the weight comparison.

It's really starting to grow on me. What do you think? Suggestions?

Nice job. I think it looks really good.

Just curious... where does the weight reduction come from? I assume the panels are made of something else?

 Looking good ,I like  , I see you spent some time polishing too . Did you use those pads I gave you?
I would lose the covers too, maybe orange springs or bodys?
I like the lower shields but I dont care for the hand guard look to much. I know im going to snap my mobile off and then have to make a make a choice  . Thats one thing I loved about my old ZX , it was just right and it took a beating.

Were going to have some NICE looking sleds when were all together

keep us updated ..

Looks really good. I like it. I'm only 65% done mine, painting the panels is a pain!! Those "pads" snowmutt mentioned for polishing the tunnel, what are they and where can I get some? I'm wearing my elbow out. I'm also going with a USI ski this year and hoping for a big improvement.

Sled looks great, if I ever see it, I'll know it's you for sure!!

Dave

Oh yeah, if you want some aluminum billet wheels for a good price that are factory size, let me know, I got some last week and there sweet, around $80.00 a pop.

Those pads are nothing special, their just made out of a fiber that seams to work well on the first step. I found that the rag gunks up to quick and then you use more polish then needed. Remember when polishing your taking a fine layer off each time. So if the rag is clogged up from heavy build up it's not cutting to polish. The fiber pads im using are from the pading in cars for sound deading (under the rear seats). I just happen to find some cutouts in the racks of pading at work that get mix in from the supplier. The best part is their size , just right for the hand(2x3 inches)

Do your billets have the rubber on the outer edge? any pics?

Keith any updates? :lookaround:

mutt[/b]

I have put a new windshield on it and I have painted the tach and speedo bezels yellow and red, but now I have all the panels off it working on other things.

Upon inspection of the carb boots I found that they were junk. The rubber had pulled away from the mounting bracket leaving a huge air leak next to the bolts on the sides. So I need new reed cages and I have to clean the carbs yet.

I also have the a-arms off installing bushings. I'm checking Monday to see if our local powder coater is running any yellow in the next week or so.

I've upgraded the center shock as well to a piggy back off of a 440 X snocross machine, but I'm having trouble with clearance since the shock is off an SC3 and I have an SC4.

Last, but not least, is a gearing change and a new helix from Joey at Northern Catalyst. While changing the helix out, I noticed that the secondary spring was copping a pretty serious lean. Bent so to speak. I guess I'll be needing a new spring as well.

That's all for now. More pics soon.

No, the billets are just aluminum, no rubber around the outside. I'll get some pics up in the next day or so, I've been holding off trying to get the sled together.

Well...Almost done now. Since the last update, I have replaced the a-arm bushings, painted the a-arms and gage bezels, and added a different windshield (taller and warmer...and better looking I think).

Powder coat was too long of a lead time right now. Paint will have to do for this winter.
A close look at the painted a-arms.

I like the A-arms matches up perfect  . Did you put clear on them ? , if theres a good amount of clear they will hold up real well.
I was wondering somthing... Do you still use the factory airbox on the left panel or is deleted ?. If that airbox was'nt there then you could vent the panel for the clutches. This is one thing im still trying to get more air to.
I did the swiss cheese thing on my plastic gaurd with 1/4" and 1" holes, just would like to get more flow through there from the outside.

I didn't put any clear on the paint. I wasn't really worried about it. I figured that I would get them powder coated for next year if I stay with the colors. I'm sure that I'll be touching it up from time to time.

I am still using the air box. It's mounted to the top of the clutch guard now.

I removed the plastic from the guard last year. I won't install any holes form the outside though. I need to be able to cross water w/o worrying about the clutches getting wet.

Well, I would but Mr. Keith has been working in Lawton quite a bit. I never know when he is going to be in the shed or for how long so its kinda hard to get our times of availability in sync. Hell, last year he was wrenching and I was polishing and cleaning sleds getting them ready. I also am thinking that this lack of snow has put a bit of a damper on all of our spirits and wanting to work on our sleds.....maybe I just speak for myself. I just wish it would snow. I know that would give me some incentive
