First winter here in MN. Looking for recommendations on areas up north to go. Moved here from MI and knew all areas areas of the LP well. Now I feel lost. First trip will probally be with the family so will be looking for better accomodations with easy access to trails. When it's without the women in the house, any place will do. :) Prefer forest trail riding as opposed to long strecthes of RR grades trails. Looking for forward to some members recommendations.

here are some great trail places to go, these are not in order of best just all good places if they have snow. Park Rapids, Ely, Duluth, Silver Bay, Ludson, Thief River Falls, Hill City, Detriot Lakes, Virginia, Hibbing, Internaitonal falls. this list goes on and on, northern minnestoa has probably the best and most trail system in the world. over by park rapids there is an area with over 250 miles of trails in less then 80 square miles (8 by 10 miles) so there is more rail then you can bleieve. most ove these places you can go to and from town to town in a day or less. i have riding from park rapids to international fall and back in one day. over 400 miles, it was a blast. so many trails, find a place. buy a trail map and have a blast. the north shore (duluth, ludson, silver bay) is the best to go to this time of year.

Keep your eye on north shore snow totals... that is where the deepest snow usually is. The DNR webpage has a snow depth map updated each week.
