Hello All, NEWBIE HERE,
I was looking for your opinion on a purchase I just made. i bought a 95 xlt 600 and a 9o indy special 500 for $600. The guy told me the fuel pump was bad on the 600 and the 500 needed a mag. So I tore into the 600 first, finding out that the glass top on fuel cap had broken allowing water to enter fuel tank. Long story short- got old fuel out, new fuel in starts 2nd pull evry time now. The 500 is still broke. I'm looking for a flywheel with the part # being fp5438 if someone has one. But anyways the reason for this post was to see if you all thought my purchase was worth the money? I don't know too much about snowmobiling, but know a lot about mechanics.
Btw the 600 doesn't have a scratch on it. the 500 has a crack in rear of hood.

6 $hundo for 2 sleds, and one of them runs good, I'd say good deal. If I remember right, and that's a big IF, the flywheel ( big $) on the 500 just has the magnets in it, so you probably don't need that, just one of the coils ( ignition, lighting) mounted to the engine, maybe.

man thats quite thedeal. 600 for two and u got one real decent runner out of them... id say u would pay over 800 for a mint 600 with a "bad" fuel pump. lol it was worth it lol. but yea as far as the indy goes look around some sled scraop yards. theres thousands of those old sleds around and you can probbaly pick up a used stator working for 100 bucks lol

Six bills for a good running sled? Sounds like you win. You could probably get more than half that back parting out the other one if you don't end up getting it running...

Sound slike you got a great deal. I just picked up a 1997 Formula 500 long track for $1000 Canadian. Only thing is the guy put the wrong size wrist pin bearings in when he put new pistons and rings in. So I put the new ones in and runs good no problem. My kids are going to be shocked when they see it sitting in the front yard at Christmas. Can't wait.
