Never been down this "road" before so I am looking for some input from those that have.

What is the best type of tilt-bed trailer lift-assist (shock type or spring type) and where'd you get it from?

(I'm working with a steel Karavan double trailer w/ a galvanized salt shield on it)

Thanks for your input!

P.S. Merry Christmas to all! :christmas:

I did the gas strut on my Karavan with a 2/3 aluminum top. Works fine three years later.

I received the Raise Rite springs from JR Graham 2 days after I ordered them, thumbs up to them for the super-fast shipping!

Installation instructions were amusing to me, as it stated that it'd be easiest to install this set up with the trailer upside down. (that wasn't an option as far as I was concerned since the salt-shield is on the trailer already)
With the trailer in the garage, I lifted the front (as in tilt mode), wrapped an axle strap from the race car hauler around the center beam, hooked that to the chain-hoist, and commenced to pretty much standing the trailer on it's rear end. (allowing the tongue to remain free to dangle)
I had to drill two 3/8" holes in the tongue rail (for the spring ends to go into), and zip to the local hardware store for a 8" grade 5 bolt, which replaces the factory pivot bolt. (the kit comes with a 9" bolt, which is for a tongue that is 3" in width. (my karavan has a 2" wide X 3" high tongue)
Other than that the installation was pretty simple, and I can now tilt the trailer VERY easily, and it stays tilted nicely.
Thus far I am completely satisfied w/ this set-up....

Thanks Snow4, I hope it does too!

May have to test load a few times with the 4-wheeler since we still don't have any snow....[attachment=32017:crying_guy.gif]
