: 99 Mach 1
Rocketman 10-15-2002, 01:09 PM What kind of HP is this one putting out? And....can it be jumped!?? :0: I noticed that both the MachZ and Mach1 have more front travel than the mxz I currently own......
Did it have DPM and DESS?

Formula500 10-15-2002, 01:31 PM Hi!
"I noticed that both the MachZ and Mach1 have more front travel than the mxz I currently own......" MXZ 670 -97.
Can this be right?
I dont know about the Mach 1, but my Mach Z 99, has DESS, (and RER), but no DPM.
;)
folgers 10-15-2002, 01:33 PM I
i have a 98 that i got going real good last year! as for jumping no clue what i do know is the ck3 will knik between the seat and foot rests if landing on the A$$ end hard! seen it twice .
other than that its a nice sled when you go past those twins at around 80 90 mph.
Rocketman 10-15-2002, 01:43 PM What kind of fuel mileage do you get with this bad boy :sly:
folgers 10-15-2002, 02:00 PM im really not sure i went up nothe last year and didnt have to ask for fuel others were looking! i didnt wory about it once in over 2000 miles.
i allways have a full tank b/4 i get on to any trail. if i go down below 1/2 when we stop at the bar we fill up.
id have to say 150 miles if i had to guess
Mikadoo 10-15-2002, 04:02 PM The 99 IMO was the best and the fastest of all the Mach1's built.
Reason's; Flat slide carbs, end dump pipes [like the rest except the 98 pile]
And a oil line going directly to the PTO bearing. It had d.e.s.s. only and I think only the Z had the optional rer. Your looking at about 140 H.P. damm, I miss that short stroke 700!
It had 16" shocks compared to 18" on the 98 so it would handle better on the curves. I sure would like to find a brand new one of those sitting around, I WOULD scarf it up in a heartbeat! :)
Formula500 10-15-2002, 05:04 PM Mikadoo, i have a Mach Z 99 with 2500miles on. Do u have any comments regarding modification that i "must" do to keep the sled running, or will u say its bullet proof?
:)
Mikadoo 10-15-2002, 05:12 PM Formula500, the only real problem the 700 had was the PTO bearing going out, they fixed that with a addition of a direct oil line to it [should have started that in 97]. Other than that, just good summer storage practices and it will last you a good long time. I put 7000 on my 97 and to this day it still runs strong [sold to a friend] it had 150 p.s.i. in all three cyl. at that time and beat many a 800's.
permafrost 10-15-2002, 05:24 PM I've owned a 97/98 and a 99 mach 1 . The 99 had a crisper throttle response and handled by far the best. Mine had RER , no dpm. My 97 was the fastest of the bunch but with an SC10 in a Fbody it was the inner ski lift king.
ballsout1 10-15-2002, 07:15 PM All i can say is jumping any sled is better if you land reasonably flat and any angle away from flat makes it worse, X TEN when weight is factored in,a little bit of angle and bottoming is just around the corner, also all the mid corner bumps that create bump steer your arms have to correct for are amplified, In the rough stuff on a mach your bouncin, breakin bones and well....... just another day for me! If you buy a mach doo some draggin or lake racin.
blk 800 10-15-2002, 07:23 PM mikadoo, my dealer as a brand new 99 mach 1 !!! A new 99 formula 670 and a new touring 800.I live in Tracadie New Brunswick Canada. tcsonier@nb.sympatico.ca

are you talking about rocketman's weight or the sled ? :D :0: :hallo1:
007oodiks 10-15-2002, 09:15 PM my 99 mach1 had dess and rer. my buddies 2000 mach1 also has dess and rer wit elect start but no dpm. I saw a 2002 machz at the nh grass drags for 7000$ brand new there were 2or 3 at other tents all way under 8grand but the grapx were ugly IMHO. and it rained as usual  :cussing:
007oodiks 10-15-2002, 09:20 PM as for the gas mi for the last 5 years i had a 94fz 583 and usualy took the same or more fuel ridding with mostly tripples in the group all doos :D
maluchm 10-16-2002, 07:48 AM I probably wouldn't jump it if I was you. Because you might just end up with a
tweaked bulhead and a tunnel. Mine did!. Plus it's got a little weigt to it
also. Just like Mikadoo said, it's got that short stroke which is nice. Pull the
cord about 8 to 10 inches and she fires to life not like some of the twins where
you need to pull your brains out just to get it to sputter.
idooski 10-16-2002, 12:18 PM Rocketman...If you are really concerned with jumping being a problem, stay away from the CK3 and get a ZX-X chassis (ZX minimum) MXZ 700 or 800. :)
Rocketman 10-16-2002, 02:00 PM Not REALLY concerned with jumping...I never go huge...but I have to be able to hit a bump without worrying that the chassisis going to break.
permafrost 10-16-2002, 02:35 PM that is one of the problems of the CK3 when it come to my riding syle anyways. Crazy B and others I know of have bent the front bulkhead from hard front hits on the trail.
Mikadoo 10-16-2002, 03:09 PM blk, Canada is a little far, but please check out the price in U.S. funds and how we could get it across the boarder to Michigan. Thanks, Mike
Mikadoo 10-16-2002, 03:13 PM Sounds like the CK-3 could benifit with some tunnel stiffners. Would a pair like the pro-x polaris fit or is that not where they bend? :withstupid:
folgers 10-16-2002, 03:24 PM you should be able to bring anything across the border its called N.A.F.T.A THE north american free trade act do some reading on it!
as to the ck s kniking its from landing hard on the tail end, a friend has a 98 ck3 who rides as hard as anyone on this page, skills include 5 years on the oval pro sponsord by skidoo ect. he kinked his doing a grass drag hill clime! last year.
so from 98 to last year banging the trails in new england it had no problem!also about 100 heel klickers of snow banks into the bars parking lot!
Bartman 10-16-2002, 03:42 PM My FIII is similar, less the triple pipes and flat slides, Over 5000 miles with no problems, about 15 miles per gallon trail riding, that's why I still ride it, I am thinking about an MBRP wide front-end kit because it does suffer from the ski lift blues but all around I have been very happy with my '99 CK3 sled.
machz69 10-16-2002, 05:41 PM i ride as hard if not harder then most. i am very aggressive and i have no prob with my ck3 i have landed pretty hard at the bottom of some hiles with no probs..... if your mxz has had no probs then the ck3 will do u just fine
Rocketman 10-16-2002, 08:11 PM That's what I figured
The front even has more travel than my mxz does.
MrZzz 10-16-2002, 11:17 PM Rocketman, I own a 99 MachZ and bent the bulkheads on both sides of the motor from a hard front end landing. :nervous: Do-The-Doo met up with me that same day to go riding up the forks last year. The clutch side is replacable but the magneto side had to straighten out and add small angle stiffener. The damn sled is just too heavy but wouldn't give up that motor for anything on the market today. Guess I'm stuck with it until they finally squeeze an 809 or bigger triple into the ZX ???
Rocketman 10-17-2002, 08:57 AM How hard a landing are we talking? Nose dive from 5 feet up or what?
This is the thing..this sled is in mint. Not a mark on it, the only thing is that the 1.25 track is worn a bit on some lugs. No big deal. He also has DNE stingers on it :inlove: Its got about 2000 miles on it and the guy wants 3500 US obo. Doing a security check today...we'll see if I join the tripple club for the 02-03 season :0: :inlove:
folgers 10-17-2002, 09:14 AM yes you will rocket if you have problems with ski lift tell me and ill get my set up for ya! i had that problem but no more!! can also get ya my clutch set up you will loose a little top end but your get a nasty hole shot of the line!
permafrost 10-17-2002, 09:47 AM The bent front bulkheads that I witnessed happened on the trail. It did happen at high speed but it was caused from going accross a dip in the trail and landing on the up slope on the other side. Maybe reinforce them from the get go to avoid this problem.
Rocketman 10-17-2002, 12:44 PM Tell me where it needs to be braced
MrZzz 10-23-2002, 11:35 PM Right where the clutch comes through, the bulkhead obviously narrows there. Mine bent exactly how permafrost described. I too was going over a woop di doo at a high about 50 -60 MPH caught a little air and also caught the rise of the next bump. Didn't notice anything until I got half way back to camp and the belt blew. Upon further investigation noticed the bulkhead had bent out and was rubbing against the belt. I would add a stiffiner angle from the tunnel to the shock tower on both sides. I think the angle I used was either a 1/2 x 1/2 or 3/4 x 3/4. you can't go too big cause it wont fit
permafrost 10-24-2002, 09:00 AM MrZzz that is identical to Crazy B's misfortune. After the hit we started riding again and 5-10 minutes down the trail, boom the belt blows. We put another belt on not thinking much of it and 10 minutes later ,blow another belt. Thats when we took a good look and saw where it was rubbing. We bent it back in as best we could and limped back.
MrZzz 10-24-2002, 06:18 PM Well to be honest it took me 2 belts before I investigated and figured it out also. Talk about a coincidence.
