Since we can't be sledding and I'm taking a break from polishing and wrenching, I'm watching the 50 Top Canadian Inventions on CBC. This was from an online poll taken over a period of time by CBC Television.

The 17th top invention was the Skidoo Snowmobile. I guess I should have taken the time to vote.
Maybe it could have been number ONE. LOL

Poutine (French Fries covered in melted cheese and gravy.) was #10. Yuck!

#9 - Electric Wheel-chair.

#8 - The Zipper.

#7 - The Robertson Screw. (Square)

#6 - The Pacemaker.

For those reading this as they're airing and I'm typing them I apologize as I hit a wrong key and the next thing I knew it was posted. Sorry.
I will keep posting it as they air.

#5 - LMAO, the Wonderbra. It lifts and separates. When they were first introduced, they were selling 1 every 15 seconds.

#4 - 5 Pin Bowling? I think I missed something here. LOL

#3 - Was invented in 1874 and then sold to Thomas Edison in the U.S. Yes, the Lightbulb. Sorry I didn't catch their names but it was invented by a medical student and a hotel clerk in Toronto. I guess I was shocked to learn that Thomas Edison didn't actually invent it. 47 years old and still learning something new everyday.

#2 - The Telephone. Thanks Alexander Graham Bell. (From Brantford Ontario, about 10 minutes from Paul Yarek.)

And the number ONE Canadian Invention? Insulin. The diabetes wonder drug . From Banting (Born in London, Ont. 20 minutes from my house.) and Best who discovered it together in Toronto.

So with all that Canadian ingenuity, why can't we make it snow?
AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Poutine is AWESOME!!! Can't get enough of it, but it has to be real poutine, not the rip-off shredded cheddar the sell to people most places outside of Quebec.

Something I had for the first time in years this Christmas in Newfoundland was Chips, Dressing and Gravey, Newfoundland's answer to Poutine. It's tasty, but not as filling as poutine.

Really, they don't know a good screw head when they see one! I think they still like to use that super safe head with the slot, well atleast "band aid" will always be in business as long as the slot is around.
Joking aside I know the original Roberston factory is in Milton,Ontario, I used to do some landscape work there a few years back.

The only thing close to the word robertson in the U.S. is Mrs. "Robinson" from the movie the graduate. LOL.... Now that is history.

We do use robertson screws here in the US...not as widely as in Canada. I mainly seen it used on Deck screws.... and are generally referred to as square head screws. Pretty darn nice to use I might add!!!

I remember my first trip to Canada (Wawa) about 3 years ago. 1st night in the bar a buddy ordered burger and fries and said no gravy on the fries. I said why in the hell do you think anyone would put gravy on french fries. You can imagine the response I got from the locals, quite a laugh.

Robertson screws are very popular with the RV and modular home builders in the U.S.
It is hard to find a U.S. made travel trailer or motor home that does not use the Robertson screw.

FASTBLACK800CAT is also right, they make a great deck screw!

He beat me to it. People around here call them house trailer screws. I didn't even know they had a different name untill a few years ago.

Fries with Gravey in my opinion are the "BEST" I first tried them in White River at a place I think called Louie's. I have been eating them ever since. Love them!

I was just at a museum in northern Wisconsin that claimed the snowmobile was invented in Sayner Wisconsin. I'm not saying it's right, but they had a pretty big history behind it.

I love Canada ehh? Young Street in downtown Toronto probably could claim the first to invent stuff. I could walk up and down that street for hours and never see the same things/people but see plenty of different stuff. Love it there.
