I just got done removing the track on my 1983 SRV540 - thanks to some of you for your help. Here's the problem:

The new track I bought is a Camoplast Challenger #679-9793 which is supposed to be a 15x121 track. I was told by two separate dealers that my sled takes a 121x15. However, when I line the two tracks up, the new one seems about 6 inches longer than my orginal. Questions are this:

Is it possible my sled has a 116x15?

Did I purchase the wrong size track, maybe that number (679-9793) corresponds to a 126?

Is it possible if I pull the back wheels out as far as possible to use the new track I purchased?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I feel like I'm in the dark with the problem. I've looked at a several sites over the internet, but haven't found any answers yet.

thanks,

Paul

If the dealer shiped the numbers you mentioned the track you recieved is a 15x121 1" lug Energy Touring.
The only Yamaha for that year, that takes a 116" track is the 440ss. I upgraded mine to the 121" track last year due to my rear suspension breaking in two. Run a tape measure around the inside of your track, that should get you close enough to tell what you have and what you were shiped.

Good Luck
